Thanks to its wonderful typing, gargantuan special bulk, and Regenerator, Assault Vest Galarian Slowking is a potent specially defensive pivot. Additionally, it has access to good offensive options and Future Sight, letting it support and enable offensive teammates. Additionally, Future Sight can help break Substitute from the likes of Baxcalibur and Iron Moth, preventing them from having opportunities to sweep. Psychic can be used over Future Sight as a more consistent alternative, providing more immediate pressure against the likes of Zamazenta, Toxapex, Amoonguss, and Iron Moth. Flamethrower hits Steel-types like Gholdengo, Kingambit, and Corviknight that can otherwise snuff out Future Sight. Surf is key for hitting Pokemon like Landorus-T and Heatran, 2HKOing the former, while also hitting Great Tusk and Iron Moth without having to rely on Future Sight. Alternatively, Ice Beam wrecks Landorus-T, Great Tusk, and Garchomp while also hitting the likes of Dragapult and Dragonite. Tera Fairy gives Galarian Slowking a generally good defensive typing, notably being immune to Dragon-type moves from the likes of Dragapult, Baxcalibur, and Walking Wake. Tera Flying turns Galarian Slowking’s weakness to Ground into an immunity while also making it resist U-turn, allowing it to switch into non-Ice Spinner Great Tusk most of the time. Tera Water lets Galarian Slowking snuff out Fire-types like Cinderace, Volcanion, and Heatran while also resisting Water-type attacks from Pokemon like Hisuian Samurott, Walking Wake, and Azumarill. Additionally, it boosts the power of Surf, letting it potentially OHKO Landorus-T and 2HKO Heatran. 120 Special Defense EVs let Galarian Slowking take two Shadow Balls from Choice Specs Dragapult at full health, while 16 Defense EVs ensure that it can survive two Psyshocks from Choice Specs Iron Valiant after Stealth Rock, which also means surviving Hisuian Samurott's Ceaseless Edge from full health. Ground-immune Pokemon such as Zapdos, Moltres, and Corviknight make for excellent teammates, as they can switch into Ground-type moves from the likes of Great Tusk and overwhelm them. Offensive Pokemon like Dragapult, Iron Valiant, Baxcalibur, and Enamorus heavily appreciate Future Sight being able to overwhelm Pokemon like Garganacl, Amoonguss, and Zamazenta. Galarian Slowking's reliance on Assault Vest to function against Pokemon like Dragapult, in addition to its weakness to Dark, leaves it heavily vulnerable to Knock Off from the likes of Iron Valiant and Meowscarada. As a result, Corviknight is a great partner, as it can take Knock Off and provide Defog support, helping maintain Galarian Slowking's longevity. The weakness to Dark leaves Galarian Slowking especially vulnerable to the likes of Kingambit, Hisuian Samurott, and Roaring Moon. As a result, checks to these Pokemon like Great Tusk and Dondozo make for great partners.

Assault Vest Galarian Slowking is a potent specially defensive pivot thanks to its access to good offensive options and Future Sight, this is very confusing, saying its a good defensive pivot because of its offensive options. Id start by listing qualities that make it a good defensive pivot (bulk, Regenerator, typing) and then add on that it has good offensive options letting it support offensive teammates. In addition to enabling offensive threats, Future Sight can help break Substitute from the likes of Baxcalibur and Enamorus Iron Moth, making them prone to being overwhelmed throughout the course of a game. preventing them from having opportunities to sweep. (these arent really Pokemon you "overwhelm", instead fs stops them from sweeping. Psychic can be used over Future Sight as a more consistent alternative, having more immediate pressure against the likes of Toxapex, Amoonguss, and Iron Valiant Moth. Sludge Bomb hits val, psychic is great into moth though, preventing it from overwhelming you or playing around fs with sub Flamethrower hits Steel-types like Gholdengo, Kingambit, and Corviknight that can otherwise snuff out Future Sight. Surf is key for hitting Pokemon like Landorus-Therian, Ting-Lu, and Heatran, 2HKOing the former. Surf does so little to ting lu you'd be better off fishing for poison or switching out in fear of eq Alternatively, Ice Beam wrecks Landorus-Therian and Garchomp while also hitting the likes of Dragapult and Dragonite. Tera Fairy gives Galarian Slowking a generally good defensive typing, notably being immune to Dragon moves from the likes of Dragapult, Baxcalibur, and Dragonite Walking Wake. Dragonite rarely if ever runs a dragon move, walking wake is much more relevant Additionally, it gives it a neutrality to Ground, making it less vulnerable to Earthquake from the latter two. Tera Flying turns Galarian Slowking’s weakness to Ground into an immunity while also making it resist U-turn, making it able to switch into Great Tusk and Landorus-T most of the time.
