These traits make it especially threatening in the metagame, as some of the best Restricted Pokemon like Terapagos and Calyrex-S struggle to break through Kyogre, while it continuously damages them with powerful rain-boosted STAB moves. Origin Pulse is a strong STAB move that Kyogre can use as it loses HP. Thunder can punish opposing Water-types like Urshifu-R and Ogerpon-W. Ice Beam threatens Grass- and Dragon-types like Amoonguss, Koraidon, and Miraidon. The EV spread allows Kyogre to survive a Choice Specs Helping Hand-boosted Draco Meteor from Miraidon and lets it take three Tera Ghost Astral Barrages from Calyrex-S. This can be solved by using Urshifu-R, which outspeeds most of the metagame with a Choice Scarf and threatens high damage with Surging Strikes, which can be boosted by Kyogre's Rain rain. Tsareena has been is a good pick on teammate for Assault Vest Kyogre Teams, providing Ice coverage in Triple Axel, which threatens threatening Dragon- and Grass-types like Miraidon and Rillaboom with Triple Axel while also providing priority blocking, which shuts shutting down common priority attacks that threaten Kyogre like Grassy Glide from Rillaboom and Thunderclap from Raging Bolt that threaten Kyogre with Queenly Majesty.
