XY OU Art of the Maiden (Mega Gardevoir Team, peaked 1713)

HELLO everyone, ur favorite Papa Dragon is back with his 5th RMT, with my lovely..umm...cousin Mega Gardevoir (dont even ask how I got a FAIRY as a cousin ok? Mega Altaria screwed that one up :p)!! After seeing her prowess as a attacker, I decided to build a team around her. So here it is, the Art of the Maiden, the Mega Gardevoir squad!!

Stache (Thundurus) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Psychic

As my speed demon killer, special sweeper, and Gardy's boyfriend, we have Stache the Thundurus!! As Gardevoir is kind of slow (I told her to lay off the burgers, but she wouldn't listen. Now look how slow she is now!! GUHH), I needed something to slow the faster pokemon down for a nice Gardevoir sweep. And this guy was the perfect answer. With Prankster, Stache's T-waves are the fastest moves on the block (most of the time) and with Life Orb allows it's attacks to be as powerful as possible, destroying the paralysed opponents. The EVs and nature give Stache the edge on power and speed, and his moveset compliments that. Thunderbolt is like a bomb to most pokemon that do not resist Electric, and Focus Blast is even worse, wrecking the steel and ice type pokemon stupid enough to get in the way. HP Ice is SPECIFICALLY for annoying Gliscor and lead Landorus-T (sometimes the scarfed one, if I play it right), as those two can be a problem to my team if left unchecked. As the god of PokeThunder, Stache is a nice pair to Gardevoir. Changed HP Ice to Psychic to wreck Mega Venusaur, and while it makes me weak to Landorus-T and Gliscor, Keldeo handles both fine.

Grim (Garchomp) (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake

Ah, feels good to be on the team!! As a physical sweeper, Stealth Rock setter, lead, and Thundurus bro, I can set up on my opponent...and eat them at the same time. I have a Lum Berry over a Focus Sash as Will-o-Wisp Gengars, Mews, and Zard Xs are running around the place, and those would screw up my team. Besides, I am bulky enough to tank most hits, and the only things I see killing me is Greninja and Mamoswine, both of which are countered by the other pokemon in the squad. My EVs and nature allow me to outspeed many things, while Thundurus paralyses the things that outspeed me and Gardevoir. My moveset is pretty self-explanatory. Stealth Rock for hazards, Swords Dance for wombo-combo sweeping, and Dragon Claw and Earthquake for STAB, and to clean house. Me and Stache work really well together, with the slight ice weakness being covered by my other teammates. All in all, I am the scout of this team, leading with my rock and cleaning house RIGHT from the start. Changed Swords Dance to Fire Blast to handle Ferrothorn, Scizor, and Skarmory better, and Garchomp doesnt really clean late-game anyways, due to it being frail and taken down early in the game (for cannon fodder ;-;).

Radcliffe (Keldeo-Resolute) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Scald
- Icy Wind
- Secret Sword

Do you get the name?? If you do, you get a cookie!! Anyways, as my scarfer, special sweeper, and Mamoswine and Greninja counter, it's Radcliffe the Keldeo! With a Choice Scarf, I can outspeed the remaining threats Stache failed to paralyse, after wrecking them hard. The EVs and nature allow maximum speed for Radcliffe to zip around his opponents, with power to boot. The moveset is the standard scarf set, Hydro Pump for STAB power, Scald for the burn chance to screw up physical sweepers, Icy Wind for Grass-types and dragons (also slowing down fast pokemon that were not paralysed) and Secret Sword for STAB, to wreck Ferrothorn and steel-types that can pose a problem to my team. Overall, this majestic beast is the greatest partner I can ask for to help me and Stache.

Kirby (Mew) @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 104 Def / 152 Spe
Impish Nature
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Knock Off
- Soft-Boiled

As my defogger and wall, it's Kirby the Mew! I needed a bulky defogger that wasnt weak to ice-type attacks, I chose Kirby here to be the pink ball of death that took away your hazards and burned ur win conditions, after taking away their precious items and healing while doing it. With Leftovers, Kirby gets gradual recovery, attaining extra bulk to tank hits. The EVs and nature allow me to outspeed Mega Heracross, Bisharp, and Jolly Tyranitar, allowing me to burn them, then tanking their Pursuits, Knock Offs, or Pin Missiles for my other pokemon to get a clean kill. The moveset is pretty standard, Defog for hazard clearance, Will-o-Wisp for burning physical sweepers and physical dancers like Dragonite and Pinsir, Knock Off to get rid of Choice Scarfs, Eviolites and Leftovers to cripple a pokemon, and Soft-Boiled for longevity and recovery. I chose this over Latias as with Latias I will have a big ice weakness, which is denied by our beloved pink deathball of awesome. Changed Defog to Taunt as I already have a spinner (see below) and it allows me to break setup sweepers and stall.

Pingo (Excadrill) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin

A LEGEND RETURNS.
Joining my team from my earlier RMTs was the super-penguin with balls of steel (head, and hands too, but meh), PINGO THE SUPERDRILL. With a Choice Scarf it takes lots of opponents by surprise and has them ending up with dead Greninjas, Rotom-Ws, Landorus-Is, Thundurus-Is, and many more pokemon. With Mold Breaker, it's all-powerful Earthquake hits everything that isnt a Flying-type, and even then it can bring it to ground with Rock Slide. As for fairies, BAHHH. Iron Head is a clean kill for most of the fairies. And if it isnt, the flinch usually does. For the 4th move, it was obviously Rapid Spin to clean out the hazards. The EVs and nature boost Excadrill for CRAZY wombo-combo wrecking. All in all, this guy is a total BEAST, as it's passive penguin-dance when I send it out hides a ferocious monster which can rip you apart in the blink of an eye.

Maiden (Gardevoir) (F) @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 24 Def / 232 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Taunt

Here we have the star of the show, my mega, my special sweeper, my wallbreaker, and Clefable counter, my cousin, Maiden the Mega Gardevoir!! While Maiden may be a bit frail, it's power is no pushover. Hyper Voice can 2HKO Clefable, even with a Calm Mind boost up, and pretty much 2HKOs anything not named special wall, steel type, or poison type. The EVs and nature are for maximum speed to hit the opponent and destroy it before it could even move, and 24 defense EVs allow Maiden to tank a Psyshock from Life Orb Latios TWICE, allowing Maiden to be the Latios counter I needed. The moveset is pretty self-explanatory. Hyper Voice for Super STAB sweeping, Psyshock to deal with the poison pokemon and is also a nice STAB attack, Focus Blast for steel-types and to be a nuke (assuming it doesnt miss ;-;) and Taunt to screw over special walls and setup sweepers like Chansey and Clefable. Maiden is also helped by Stache (see above) with it's Thunder Wave paralysing the pokemon faster than our Wonder Woman. Maiden also synergizes with me, with her tanking the dragon and fairy attacks against me, while I wreck the steel and poison pokemon troubling. With a Thundechomp (THUNdurus, GarDEvoir, GarCHOMP) core in my team, there are few pokemon that can stop us.

And that's the team!! Time to cover my threats so you guys can own me when you find me <3

  1. Chestnaught (Without Gardevoir, I am done. None of my other pokemon can hit it hard (not even me ;-;) so I am only lucky this thing is VERY uncommon.)

Right now, this was the only threat I have seen destroying my team (when I was still climbing the 1400s :P) so until next RMT, this is The Grim Garchomp, signing off.

Importable:

Maiden (Gardevoir) (F) @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace

- Thunder Wave

Grim (Garchomp) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Rough Skin
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Swords Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake

Focus Sash is more useful in combination with Stealth Rock. You lose out of getting past something that burns you, but it also near guarantees you a layer of Stealth Rock when lead with it. It can especially help you against Lead Mamoswine, who otherwise could OHKO you before you get any hazards up.

Radcliffe (Keldeo-Resolute) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Scald / Hidden Power [Flying]
- Icy Wind
- Secret Sword

I would recommend using Choice Specs over Choice Scarf on Keldeo. The Scarf set is OK in the XY meta, but the power of the Specs set is too much to pass up. Specs Keldeo breaks down all the walls that give your other team members trouble, and it does a wonderful job softening Chansey for a Gardevoir sweep against Stall teams.

I would outright replace Banded Scizor with Scarf Landorus-T. It functions as a better cleaner, revenge killer, and U-Turner, with the added bonus of giving you an opportunity for Intimidate abuse.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Superpower / Knock Off
- U-Turn

The difference between Scarf Earthquake and Banded Bullet Punch isn't huge, and Ground is a better attacking type than Steel. You can run both Knock Off and Superpower, or run one of the two with Stone Edge for strong coverage. While it's not as strong as Scizor's U-Turn, Landorus-T's U-Turn still packs a strong punch. This is an imoortant addition to your team because as it currently looks, you have no real way of revenge killing Greninja, Char-X, DD Mega Tyranitar, or DD Mega Gyarados. All of those are huge threats, and Landorus checks/revenges all of them.

That's all I've got, good luck battling!

Thank you Celticpride, the Choice Specs works better on Keldeo, but the Focus Sash, I will have to pass, as I actually do not lead with Garchomp but Scizor, as with Banded Bullet Punch, it wrecks the fairies/ice types that try to predict Garchomp. If it were possible, I would put Fire Fang over Stealth Rocks but I needed a hazard user, so I put the rocks. I will consider the ScarfLando, but it gives me an ice weakness, so I am doubtful. Any ideas on that??

Edit: Greninja, Char-X, DD Mega Tyranitar and DD Mega Gyarados do not trouble me that much, as with Thundurus paralysing them all they cannot do much, allowing me to proceed to revengekill with Gardevoir/Scizor/Keldeo.

Hey there!
Solid team here, I just have some minor nitpicks:
First off, I'd suggest you to change Scizor's current ev spread to 248 hp, 252 atk 8 speed/Special Defense max hp Scizor leaves you more open against residual damage like Stealth Rocks.
I would also try Fire Blast and Naive Nature over Swords Dance on Garchomp, this way you can weaken more easily stuff like Ferrothorn, Scizor, Skarmory etc in order to help Gardevoir, it also helps deal good damage against Chesnaught.

This team actually looks pretty good. A few things to say however :

- You are weak to Mega-Venusaur. It can easily come in against Keldeo or Thundurus and put you in big trouble, since your best check to it, Mega Gardevoir, really hates Sludge Bomb. One thing you can do is give Thundurus Hidden Power Flying. This gives you a very good Mega-Venusaur lure which can eliminate it before you have to deal with it does leave you weaker to Landorus-T, Garchomp and Gliscor, but you have a solid check to both of these in Keldeo. Alternatively, you can run Psychic+Hidden Power Ice Psychic achieves the exact same goal as HP Flying), this however leaves you weaker to Ferrothron, who can be a problem for your team if you decide to not run Fire Blast on Garchomp.
- IMO Choice Scarf is fine on Keldeo. You already have a dedicated wallbreaker in MGardevoir, and Scarf Keldeo lets you check Scarf Landorus-T and Scarf Garchomp better, two threats to your team, much better.
- Charizard-X and Jolly SD Talonflame can easily come in against either Mew and use it as setup fodder. Mew is a good defogger but it's maybe a bit too passive for your team, which leaves stuff such as Swords Dance Talonflame and both Zards to switch in on it for free. This is accentuated by the fact that Scizor is hopeless against these 3 Pokemon too. For YZard this isn't too big a deal since you have a good check in Garchomp, but you have no real switch-in to Charizard-X or Jolly Talonflame (who outspeeds Thundurus). In XZard's case you can Prankster TWave but you do lose 2 Pokemon in the process of checking it which is a problem, so you'll lose 2 Pokemon in the process which isn't ideal. Talonflame is even more of a problem since Prior TWave doesn't stop it due to Galde Wings, and your only priority that can outspeed it once it's paralyzed is resisted by Talonfalme. There are a few things you could do to fix this : You could run Scarf Landorus-T over Banded Scizor like Celticpride suggested (gives you a good check to both of these). However, I'm not a fan of this option it makes you even weaker to Clefable, who already walls most of your team. Running Scarf Excadrill over Scizor instead could be a possibility : while Excadrill is generally a worse scarfer than Landorus-T, here it may well benefit your team because it can actually check Clefable. Choice Scarf Heatran or Air Baloon Heatran can also deal with all these Pokemon quite well (the latter of these with the added bonus of being able to set up Rocks in case you want to free up a moveslot on Garchomp). Finally, you can run Rocky Helmet over Lum Berry on Garchomp. This basically ensures that, if they do set up, Talonflame and Charizard-X will die from Recoil. It's not a great answer, but at least you won't get completely swept by these two. Of all these I would recommend Heatran the most, since it also counters Jirachi and Scizor, two of the best counters to Mega-Gardevoir there is, and therefore has very good synergy with it.

Hope this helps!

Thank you Albacore and Enki, I have taken your suggestions into consideration, and have made a decision: I will run Scarfdrill over Scizor as it has a better ground STAB like Landorus, but eliminates the big ice weakness I'll get. I will also run Psychic on Thundurus and Fire Blast on Garchomp to wreck Mega Venusaur (that thing didnt really give me a hard time as Gardevoir revengekills or I predict, but other than that it was a solid threat) and Ferrothorn better. I am also putting back the Choice Scarf on Keldeo to counter Scarfchomp and Scarfdorus-T, which do massive damage to Gardevoir/Thundurus if I am not careful. I will also put a Rocky Helmet over Lum Berry over Garchomp as I dont actually lead with it, but with Thundy to paralyse the scarfer/setup sweeper ready to take advantage on "LeadChomp". Once again, thanks to you both, expecially Enki as he has been very useful in helping my team and improving it for most of my RMTs.
