Anybody want to help think of a band name?

So I'm in this band, and we've been together for several months, have a full set of original material, and almost have it tightened enough to start playing out. The only problem is we can't seem to settle on a name no matter how hard we think about it. There are five of us and we all have very diverse tastes and personalities so coming up with something everybody's happy with is very difficult.

So yes, I am resorting to asking people on the interwebs for suggestions! Normally when I ask people for band names I get a lot of things like "lol howabout the Sleeping Green Cat Men" or something so please don't bother with totally ridiculous stuff. I mean none of us want the name to be anything melodramatic or overly serious but we also don't want it to sound like someone put together the first couple words they thought of and decided it was a name, right?

Since I know people will ask: the band's genre is a little difficult to say since we've got a diverse range of influences and have tried a lot of different stuff with different songs. But in general I'd say it's hard alternative rock with influence from punk and metal. I guess.

Any ideas are much appreciated!

Hard Alternative Rock with Influence from Punk and Metal Band?

With some half-assed anagramming you could turn that into an abbreviation name if that's your thing, I don't know if you've considered that.

If you're using music to lose some aggression (works for the drummer at least) consider the Outlet as a name, because I think it sounds cool.

i second the Outlet.

or use some latin name.

trivium, for example means: the three roads/ways.
maybe you can take a phrase from latin and use that as a name

A slightly humorous one that I've always had in the back of my mind (just in case I ever ran across someone asking what my band's name would be if I were in one) is "Day-Old Sushi." Probably not as serious as you'd like, though.

Yeah, Day-Old Sushi is a little too goofy for us. I really wish that this band was different sometimes because most of the time I have no problem coming up with names.

I like Outlet and will probably raise it as a possibility tomorrow.

Right now the top contender we've thought of is "A Distant Second." Everyone seems to feel it's at least decent. Any outside opinions?

Hyrem. don't know where i got that from but i think it sounds cool and is kind of serious if you can put some meaning into it. Fatal Twist is a cool name too. personally i don't really like long band names because it doesn't stick in people's memories as well as something that is short and sweet. just my two cents though

- Earlybird
- Laryngitis
- Buster Wolf
- Corporeal Company

-Solitary Night
-Losing the Rhythm
-Controlled Skeptics
-Practical Plan
-Basic Preps
-Cold Stairs

I'm into longer names... don't know why, just do. xP

My band's name is Apple Juice and the Boyscouts of Sunshine

I like 'the' names, so smoething like The Boyscouts of Sunshine would be okay

But without Boyscouts of sunshine
