Wanting to Replace the Life Orb Set Currently On Site
[SET]
name: Choice Specs
move 1: Giga Drain
move 2: Sludge Bomb
move 3: Hidden Power Fire
move 4: Spore
item: Choice Specs
nature: Modest
evs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
ivs: 31/30/31/30/31/30
  • It doesn't mind switching out to change moves thanks to Regenerator
  • Spore cripples a Pokemon, as it switches out and recovers health.
  • Has powerful STAB moves.
  • Decent 114 / 70 / 80 Defenses.
  • A rare typing that gives it ample opportunity's to switch in and out.
  • 85 Special Attack boosted by Choice Specs, making it's Special Attack effectively 442, which for the record is higher than 252 EV's Timid Kyurem-White.
  • Has a very high surprise value.
  • Makes a nice check to Trick Room teams as it is so slow.
  • Separates itself from other Choice Specs users thanks to Regenerator
[SET COMMENTS]
  • Giga Drain helps regain health when Amoonguss doesn't want to switch.
  • Hidden Power Fire gets past Steel-types that wall it.
  • Spore is essential as it can stop any Pokemon in its tracks (unless it has Sleep Talk) and then can easily switch out and come back in later ready to hit with another move.
  • Choice Specs essentially gives it as high Special Attack as a Timid Kyurem-W.
  • Prediction is much easier as it can just regain health if it is an unfavorable mention.
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • EV's give it some decent bulk, even without investment into Defense and Special Defense and also allow it to hit hard.
  • IV's give it a 70 Base Power Hidden Power Fire
  • Stun Spore is an acceptable option over Spore, but it is generally inferior.
  • Clear Smog is an option over Sludge Bomb to stop Set-Up sweepers, but the Sludge Bomb power is more preferred.
  • Honestly, Amoonguss' movepool is as big as a speck of dust, and on this set, only really Foul Play could be used to nail Physical Attackers, but it is unfavorable as it is weak against any foe that is not a Physical Attacker.

Isn't this set too similar to the Offensive one onsite (Life Orb over Choice Spec)? I know I'm not QC or anything (or even post in RU much), but from what I know it doesn't have much difference. I might be wrong, though.

Amoonguss really needs the flexibility to switch moves, so Specs isn't a very effective choice. Life Orb is superior, especially as you don't want to be locked into Spore and the Life Orb damage is healed off by Regenerator and Giga Drain. LO > this

edit: lol energy ball

If you are using Specs Tangrowth is better... this is pretty much already on site anyway, although honestly ACing Specs wouldn't hurt. Switching moves is important though and Giga Drain and Regen are healing any LO damage, wheras Growth uses Leaf Storm to hit over 100% harder and gets Focus Blast. Switching moves is more important for Amoonguss as a result.

QC Rejected 1/3

Well, could this help get Choice Specs slashed?

I'll probably add it into AC or OO via SCMS because its not mentioned anywhere on the analysis atm. Or the person who moves it to L&O could. Either way, it's probably not getting slashed due to its drawbacks, sorry :/
