USUM PH Giratina-Origin Hyper Offense
Hey, I'm AV Cosmoem and I'd like to showcase one of my favorite teams I made for USUM PH. This team let me reach #4 on the ladder and has proven to be really strong against anything thrown at it. The goal is to overwhelm your opponent's defensive cores with high power move while also having as many tools against opposing offense as possible. This team is very consistent at doing both of those jobs.
Teambuilding

I was talking in the PH Discord and realized that Giratina-Origin was untapped. I came up with a Harvest set that shredded a lot of teams I saw going around right now. This Pokemon had tons of potential and I was going to realize it.

I added Mega Gyarados as the improof, and then I decided I wanted an offense team, since those are really good right now. Therefore, Mega Gyarados was also an offensive set, but it used Wonder Guard instead since I had to improof the Giratina.

Mega Mewtwo X was the best wallbreaker in the game, so I figured it would be great on this team. It also helped to serve as an anti-offense Pokemon, which I needed since those teams were getting really common. I already had a Harvest sweeper that balance absolutely could not deal with in any way as well as a bulky Wonder Guard sweeper, so I felt comfortable shifting the focus onto anti-offense by adding some Focus Sash breakers.

I added a Mega Mewtwo Y so I could have something to outspeed the Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Gengar, Mega Lopunny, and Ash Greninja for another anti-offense Pokemon. I made it my only Spore user because a lot of teams don't prep for special Photon properly, so they fold to Spore Mega Mewtwo Y. This was also another Pokemon I could improof with Mega Gyarados.

I was — and still am — a staunch believer that Kartana is a required Pokemon for a good offense team. It has many incredible qualities that offensive teams want, mainly found in its typing. Grass/Steel is amazing because it is immune to Spore and it has STAB on Sunsteel Strike. It has a massive Attack stat and outspeeds most walls in the game. It can use so many abilities well that I feel it's needed for an offense team. For what I wanted, Kartana fit in perfectly.

Finally I ended the team with Innards Out Chansey for another anti-sweeper tool and to help improof my own team.
Team Members

Giratina-Origin @ Leppa Berry
Ability: Harvest
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Rash Nature
- Extreme Evoboost
- Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom
- Clangorous Soulblaze
- Searing Sunraze Smash
This Giratina set destroys a lot of the meta, including basically every balance team, but it can also pose a threat to offense as well. It's super bulky, so it has no problem setting up Extreme Evoboost to boost all stats by 2 stages. Once it does that, there's nothing that can wall it. Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom, even unboosted, is incredibly threatening to any non-resist. Usually, this is where the threat ends for Harvest users of this nature, as they get easily answered when their STAB is walled, either by Prankster or by a Wonder Guard that resists their STAB. Giratina instead flips the matchup on Prankster with its STAB Clangorous Soulblaze, which boosts all of its stats by 1 stage every time it's used. It also hits the most popular Prankster, Zygarde-Complete, for super effective damage. This means that Prankter users can't just haze Giratina's boosts away, as Clangorous Soulblaze lets it boost back up while pressuring the opponent to heal at the same time. Since Giratina has 120/120 mixed offenses, it can also use Searing Sunraze Smash to defeat Normal and Dark Wonder Guards, particularly Mega Audino, that would survive both of its STABs. Revenge killing Giratina is very difficult because alongside its massive bulk, it is immune to Extreme Speed and resists First Impression.

Gyarados-Mega @ Fairy Memory
Ability: Wonder Guard
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Spectral Thief
- Sunsteel Strike
- Multi-Attack
This Mega Gyarados is a self-improof Wonder Guard sweeper whose job is to improof a lot of team members and ensure Impostor cannot win without having to sacrifice our Innards Out Chansey. Spectral Thief is a great anti-setup tool and ensures that Impostors copying Giratina can't boost right in our face. It also improofs Mega Mewtwo Y and Kartana, and Steel + Fairy coverage will beat just about any Dark-type that might stand in the way of our Psychic- and Ghost-type attackers. Ash Greninja was considered because it can run Pixie Plate Judgment, hitting Zygarde-Complete for enough damage to win the 1v1. However, I decided against it since Ash Greninja was way too frail for a Pokemon expected to take hits from Impostor. Also, Giratina had a very strong matchup against Zygarde as well as the cores it usually found itself on, so Zygarde wasn;t a huge concern.

Mewtwo-Mega-X @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pure Power
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Photon Geyser
- First Impression
- Close Combat
- Light That Burns the Sky
Mega Mewtwo X is a terrifying midgame breaker that can scare the opponent into passive pivots or using their Innards Out, allowing the team to progress. Photon Geyser is the obvious STAB of choice every Mega Mewtwo X runs. First Impression is a vital priority move that lets you revenge kill almost any sweeper. Since it has +2 priority, it can revenge kill even boosted priority sweepers like Kartana with Shell Smash and Ice Shard. It also does tons of damage to Psychic-type walls, most importantly Mega Slowbro, which forces a lot of 50/50s if they rely on a Psychic-type to beat Mega Mewtwo X. Close Combat lets it beat Steel-types without using its Z-Move, aside from Doublade. It also 2HKOs Zygarde-Complete, which puts lots of pressure on it combined with the Z-Move and will beat it 1v1 if it doesn't have Reflect or Strength Sap. Light That Burns the Sky is a one-time nuke that can destroy anything, even some resists. Since this Mega Mewtwo X has moves to hit Dark-, Steel-, and Psychic-types, none of them want to come in to absorb the hit. With Focus Sash, it also lets Mega Mewtwo X beat its Impostor. Because of this Pokemon, you're guaranteed to make progress.

Mewtwo-Mega-Y @ Focus Sash
Ability: Dazzling
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shell Smash
- Photon Geyser
- Moongeist Beam
- Spore
Mega Mewtwo Y is a key anti-offense Pokemon. Its speed tier lets it take on a lot of scary offensive Pokemon, like Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Gengar, Mega Lopunny, and Ash Greninja. I usually lead Mega Mewtwo Y because a lot of players like to lead Mega Lopunny, a Wonder Guard, or Impostor. Mega Mewtwo Y will beat the former two, and the latter is handled both by Chansey and Mega Gyarados. Spore is a risky move since sleep is RNG, you'll waste a turn if you use it on Safety Goggles or Magic Bounce (or the less common Lum Berry), and the Impostor can use it against you. However, Mega Mewtwo Y is an anti-offense Pokemon, and offensive Pokemon prefer items such as Focus Sash or Leppa Berry over Safety Goggles. This makes Spore against those Pokemon a safe choice. Mega Audino, who is 2HKOd by +2 Photon Geyser, and Alolan Muk, who never runs Safety Goggles, are very popular as Wonder Guard choices right now. This leaves a lot of room for Mega Mewtwo Y to break through balance cores in addition to beating the offensive Pokemon it's meant to take on.

Kartana @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Shell Smash
- Sunsteel Strike
- Spectral Thief
- Defog
Kartana is my failsafe. This Pokemon is designed to stop sweeps, remove hazards, revenge kill, and beat Innards Out. Instead of Spectral Thief, I ran Wood Hammer for a while to threaten Water-type Pokemon that resisted Sunsteel Strike, alongside hitting Zygarde-Complete and Mega Steelix for more damage. This is why you'll see Wood Hammer in some of the replays. However, improofing Kartana became really difficult if Mega Mewtwo X's Focus Sash was down, since it was immune to Innards Out and could hit everything on my team for big damage. Because of that, I changed it to Spectral Thief to allow Mega Gyarados to improof it, but also to help it combat Shell Smash + Spore sweepers. Spectral Thief will also let it hit Mega Slowbro, albeit for signifcantly less damage than Wood Hammer. Defog is used when Stealth Rock is set on your side, so you can preserve the Focus Sashes of the two Mega Mewtwo. Shell Smash and Sunsteel Strike help Kartana remain threatening, and Sunsteel Strike is its only move to hit Innards Out Chansey as well.

Chansey (F) @ Wiki Berry
Ability: Innards Out
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Gentle Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Final Gambit
- Whirlwind
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock
Chansey has the ability to trade almost any Pokemon 1 for 1. This means it's the best sweeper check in the game, bar none. This team uses Impostor Chansey to remove boosted sweepers from the opponent's side and to improof our own members in a pinch. Final Gambit prevents the opponent from using Taunt to neutralize you. Stealth Rock and Whirlwind allow you to put pressure on the opponent when combined, and Whirlwind lets you force the opponent out as well. Wiki Berry is a tech that prevents Chansey from losing to U-turns that deal 99% max damage, multihits,, False Swipe, or other moves of that nature. Chansey is chosen as the Innards Out user over Blissey since this team already has a lot of ways to beat Impostor and the consistent sacrifice is more ideal. If the opponent leads Impostor against Mega Mewtwo Y, you can go to Chansey since it will PP stall Impostor out of Photon Geyser and force it out. Wiki Berry will help it survive while asleep.

Replays
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7purehackmons-2272816020 - Giratina is easily able to set up twice this game due to its bulk, rampaging through the enemy's defensive core.
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7purehackmons-2274452643?p2 - Mega Mewtwo Y takes out priority users and Mega Gyarados stops Impostor. Chansey also clutches against their Mega Gyarados.
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7purehackmons-2275644079?p2 - Mega Mewtwo Y is taken out early by Prankster Destiny Bond, but Mega Gyarados and Innards Out Chansey are able to keep Mega Lopunny at bay for the whole game while Mega Mewtwo X picks off their offensive threats.
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7purehackmons-2275686818 - After Innards Out Chansey and Focus Sash Kartana are taken out, there is absolutely nothing stopping Giratina from setting up. Despite the presence of two Normal-types, the Arceus could not stop it even if it was Prankster due to Clangorous Soulblaze and the Slaking had no hope of revenge killing it.
Conclusion
This is possibly my favorite USUM PH team I've made. It's very fun to play and every detail fits together perfectly. I recommend giving it a shot on the ladder; it's very effective and you'll have a blast playing it!
