Alolan Ninetales is a decent lead in Ubers UU thanks to having Aurora Veil, a good Speed stat and typing, and useful utility options. Although Freeze-Dry is normally the preferred STAB move because it hits Water-types like Palafin and Walking Wake, Blizzard can be used instead for its greater power. Encore allows Alolan Ninetales to take advantage of opposing leads and setup sweepers attempting to set up entry hazards or use it as setup fodder like Nasty Plot Mewtwo and Dragon Dance Arceus formes. Hypnosis is an option instead, allowing Alolan Ninetales to decommission these foes by putting them to sleep. Although Alolan Ninetales doesn't Terastallize often, Tera Water can be used to flip the matchup against Chi-Yu, Gholdengo, and Ogerpon-H, allowing it to set up Aurora Veil in front of them. Alolan Ninetales fits best on hyper offense teams looking for a dedicated lead to set up Aurora Veil to make their attackers more potent. Setup sweepers like Kingambit, Chien-Pao, and Baxcalibur all appreciate the Aurora Veil Alolan Ninetales sets up, with latter two also benefitting from the Defense boost from snow. Pokemon like Landorus and Zamazenta-C that can deal with the Fire-, Steel-, and Poison-types Alolan Ninetales can struggle to set up Aurora Veil against are good partners.
