Alolan Muk is the premier specially defensive wall and Psychic-immune Pokemon for Poison Monotype teams, being able to absorb hits from most special attackers such as Greninja and Alakazam. Alolan Muk also threatens most Psychic-types due to its combination of Knock Off and Pursuit, allowing it to remove opposing items and trap Pokemon that threaten Poison such as Latios. Its ability, Poison Touch, and Poison Jab boast high chances of poisoning its foes, allowing Alolan Muk to whittle down bulky Pokemon such as Staraptor and Zapdos. Shadow Sneak allows Alolan Muk to revenge kill weakened foes, and Fire Blast allows it to hit Steel-types such as Ferrothorn that are otherwise not threatened by it; this also prevents Alakazam from OHKOing Alolan Muk with Counter. Mega Venusaur and Toxapex are great partners for Alolan Muk, as the three combined form a great defensive core for the type. Powerful attackers such as Nidoking and Nihilego appreciate Alolan Muk's ability to remove items and weaken foes so that they can sweep through teams more effectively.
