I'm pretty sure it's stats are exactly the same as regular Marowak, so...yeah. At least it should still get Thick Club. Plus Rock Head Flare Blitz seems...good.
 
I wouldn't write it off so quickly. Assuming it still gets Thick Club, it can hit quite hard with Rock Head + Flare Blitz / Shadow Bone / Bonemerang / Filler. Coupled with paralysis support or Trick Room in doubles it could be quite the threat. Fire/Ghost has a very interesting set of resistances as well.

Oh wow, thick club doubles attack? Didnt know that! Than its base stat would be 160 and indeed that combo of rockhead flareblitz would be amazing. Only thing is that it cant run another move though.

It's defensive typing isn't bad. Has common weaknesses yea, but really important resists (Fairy, Fire, Ice, Steel, Ice, Poison, Grass) and two immunities.

Yes, it's slow, but it hits very, very hard and has great offensive coverage with high base power moves.

It's a wallbreaker.
 
Rock Head + Flare Blitz sounds nice, but they didn't even make it faster or give it Shadow Sneak, sigh..

It's still really slow even for a wallbreaker. Seriously this won't get out of RU, lol. Especially since we already have Chandelure.

You won't convince me that it's anything more than mediocre unless they at least give him Shadow Sneak, and even then it's a stretch.

I'm sad because this is my favorite new form, but it seems like they didn't care about their viability at all.

Can we hold off on throwing it into tiers before tiers even get finalized? The thing has potential so I wouldn't be so quick to write it off. And considering everything this gen, save for a few mons, are ridiculously slow, it can really change how the metagame will play out.

Or it means that the Pokemon this Gen are not up to par with the past ones due to their shitty Speeds. Sorry, I just don't see anything good about this Pokemon except a ridiculous high Attack, which Marowak already had anyway and he was still a bad mon stuck in PU.
 
At the very least Marowak-A has a small niche as a check to Electric types with Lightingrod, as it gets an immunity to Electric moves and naturally resists most of their typical coverage moves. If Electric spam becomes a thing, it might find some limited use.

Weaknesses to Stealth Rock and Pursuit are going to really hurt though.

Weakness to Pursuit sucks but you can hit Ttar/Bisharp with Wisp on the switch which is awesome.

OU is not the pinnacle of well designed Pokemon. If it's not OU that doesn't mean it's "unviable." It still hits hard, is immune to burn, and has better coverage than normal Marowak. Pre-bank it'll be used plenty at the very least. Very few things can hit THIS hard right off the bat.
 
Whats Stomping Tantrum?

Also on a side note, it gets Flame Charge, so in PU (where it'll like go), that fixes an issue regular Marowak possessed. No Shadow Sneak, but I guess its something?
