Alolan Exeggutor is the only Grass / Dragon type in LGPE OU, and as such, it has some interesting attributes. For starters, Alolan Exeggutor the only Grass-type that can heavily damage Melmetal thanks to its access to Flamethrower. Its access to support options such as Teleport and Hypnosis and recovery in Mega Drain, decent defenses, and good typing also allow Alolan Exeggutor to come in against many threats such as Rhydon, Zapdos without Drill Peck, and Mega Gyarados, as well as further support its team. However, Alolan Exeggutor's low speed and poor defensive typing leave it vulnerable to many common threats such as Mega Gengar, Mega Beedrill, and Dragonite. It has issues breaking through common special walls such as Alolan Muk, Mew, and Snorlax and has some competition with Dragonite and Mega Charizard X as a Dragon-type, which have a more reliable recovery option in Roost, have an easier time breaking teams, or provide better utility by spreading burns. It also has to compete against Snorlax as a tank, which can take advantage of status conditions by using Facade.

Set Information
========
Mega Drain is Alolan Exeggutor's main way of keeping itself healthy throughout a match. Flamethrower is used to 2HKO Melmetal. Dragon Pulse rounds out Flamethrower's coverage, since together, these two moves cover almost everything in LGPE OU. Teleport can allow Alolan Exeggutor to bring in a teammate safely, while Hypnosis can be used to stop certain threats like Alolan Muk to allow another teammate to safely set up and sweep. Stun Spore could alternatively be used to paralyze Alolan Muk so that another teammate like Rhydon can outspeed it. A Modest nature allows Alolan Exeggutor to hit as hard as possible.
Usage Tips
========
Alolan Exeggutor can support its team all throughout the match thanks to its ability to keep itself healthy with Mega Drain. Alolan Exeggutor should come in battle after a teammate has fallen, with the help of another pivot, or against Pokemon it can reliably stop such as Rhydon, Poliwrath without Ice Punch, and Gyarados. From there, Alolan Exeggutor should use its high offenses and wide movepool to begin wallbreaking for its team. Alolan Exeggutor can also lure Melmetal into battle if it spams its STAB moves throughout the match and attempt to catch it off guard with Flamethrower. If a Pokemon such as Alolan Muk, Snorlax, or Dragonite should attempt to switch into Alolan Exeggutor, it can attempt to catch these switch-ins off guard by using either Teleport to escape the bad matchup or Hypnosis to put them to sleep so that another teammate can come in and threaten these Pokemon. Try to avoid Toxic if possible, as Alolan Exeggutor's time wallbreaking is cut short by Toxic poison, by bringing in a Pokemon that can deal with status such as Alolan Dugtrio, Alolan Muk, or Snorlax.
Team Options
========
Alolan Exeggutor fits on teams that need a decent pivot or a wallbreaker. Pokemon like Snorlax, Clefable, and Dragonite appreciate Alolan Exeggutor checking Melmetal so that they can spam their STAB moves much more often. Pokemon like Alolan Dugtrio, Mega Aerodactyl, and Rhydon can threaten out special walls such as Alolan Muk and Snorlax for Alolan Exeggutor. All of these Pokemon can also supply Stealth Rock so that Alolan Exeggutor has an easier time breaking walls. Alolan Dugtrio can also directly switch into Toxic from Pokemon like Zapdos and Snorlax. Offensive teammates such as Mega Gengar, Melmetal, and Mew appreciate Alolan Exeggutor safely bring them into battle with Teleport. Other pivots such as Zapdos and Mega Beedrill make good teammates, since they can form a pivoting core with Alolan Exeggutor. In return, Alolan Exeggutor can help deal with Melmetal and Rhydon, which both of these Pokemon can have issues breaking. Eevee-S can make a decent partner for Alolan Exeggutor, since it can keep it healthy by using Sparkly Swirl to eliminate status conditions that Alolan Exeggutor might have sustained such as Toxic poison. Other Pokemon that can switch into Toxic for Alolan Exeggutor such as Snorlax, Alolan Muk, and Melmetal are also recommended teammates.

Other Options
=============
Leech Seed is another support option that can supply Alolan Exeggutor with much more recovery and can chip foes down further into KO range, especially Pokemon that resist Mega Drain like Alolan Muk and Melmetal. A mixed offensive set using Earthquake can be a decent option to catch special walls like Chansey and Alolan Muk off guard, but it won't do much to Melmetal. Explosion can also be a last-ditch effort to severely dent a Pokemon that Alolan Exeggutor's team may struggle against, such as Mew and Alolan Muk.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Fast Offensive Pokemon**: Thanks to its low Speed, many Pokemon like Mega Gengar, Mega Beedrill, and Dragonite can threaten Alolan Exeggutor out of the match. However, none of these Pokemon want to directly switch into its attacks.
**Ice Coverage**: Water- and Ice-types that Alolan Exeggutor would otherwise check like Starmie and Alolan Sandslash can outspeed Alolan Exeggutor or, if predicted well, catch it on switch with Ice-type moves and OHKO it. Melmetal survives Flamethrower if healthy and threatens to OHKO Alolan Exegutor with Ice Punch.
**Special Walls**: Pokemon such as Alolan Muk, Snorlax, and Chansey can force Alolan Exeggutor out of the match, since it cannot break these Pokemon with its moves. None of these Pokemon want to risk being put to sleep by Hypnosis, however.
**Status Conditions**: Toxic is one of the best wats to shut down Alolan Exeggutor, as the residual damage over time will shorten its time wallbreaking.
