[OVERVIEW]
Alolan Dugtrio is by far one of the most potent and fastest Pokemon in the metagame. Boasting a base Speed stat of 110, it outspeeds the majority of the metagame and can easily deal with Pokemon that it doesn't outspeed, with few exceptions such as Mega Aerodactyl. Being able to wall Electric-types like Zapdos is also helpful, preventing them from pivoting around or, in the case of a Pokemon like Electrode, setting up dual screens. However, while Alolan Dugtrio has a decent defensive typing in Ground / Steel, it lacks the bulk for that to be relevant. It is OHKOed by quite a few Pokemon in the metagame and fails to OHKO much at all before being OHKOed itself. This usually means one would need to chip down the opposing team before Alolan Dugtrio can safely attack. However, this is not always a difficult task, as the lack of entry hazard removal means that Stealth Rock will almost definitely remain up during the game.

[SET COMMENTS]
Set Information
========
Earthquake is Alolan Dugtrio's primary attack and is mostly used to cover Melmetal, Nidoking, and Nidoqueen. Stealth Rock is generally used, as Alolan Dugtrio is a fast Pokemon, a quality that not many Stealth Rock users have. Toxic is run to not be completely walled by Flying-types like Zapdos and other common Pokemon like Mew. Sucker Punch is used to check Pokemon like Mega Gengar and Mega Alakazam, which are much faster than Alolan Dugtrio. Rock Slide is an option over Stealth Rock to do more damage to Flying-types like Zapdos. If you choose to run Rock Slide, it may be wise to keep Stealth Rock in favor of Toxic, although one may prefer to keep the latter. A Jolly nature is run to maximize Alolan Dugtrio's Speed, allowing you to outspeed Mew and Zapdos.
Usage Tips
========
It's usually best to not send in Alolan Dugtrio on raw attacks, outside of Electric-type attacks. It would therefore be wiser to send it in as a revenge killer, as a lead, or through pivoting moves from Pokemon like Mega Beedrill and Zapdos. Alolan Dugtrio's Speed will mostly be used to get chip damage off on opposing Pokemon through means of Stealth Rock, Toxic, and Earthquake. Alolan Dugtrio is frail, so be prepared to be potentially OHKOed when using Stealth Rock. However, some Pokemon like Zapdos allow Alolan Dugtrio to get up Stealth Rock for free, assuming it is at full health. Make sure Pokemon are at a low enough amount of health before trying to revenge kill them with Sucker Punch. While the move is used to revenge kill Pokemon like Mega Gengar and Mega Alakazam, they aren't KOed from full, and a lot of chip damage is required to beat them. Unless you are running Eevee-S, keep Alolan Dugtrio away from Pokemon like Mew until they are at low enough health to be knocked out. This is because if you let Alolan Dugtrio get burned, its offenses are negligible, making it merely a utility Pokemon. Use Toxic on Pokemon like Zapdos that Alolan Dugtrio can't hit hard or perhaps hit at all so they are worn down every time they switch into it, on top of the Stealth Rock damage.
Team Options
========
Pair Alolan Dugtrio with pivots such as Mega Beedrill, Mew, and Zapdos to not only help it get in safely but also get chip damage off on its potential checks. This will allow it to clean late-game a lot more easily. Fighting- resistant Pokemon such as Mew are good partners for Alolan Dugtrio as well, as they can wall some of the common Fighting-types of the tier such as Poliwrath. A teammate with a Ground resistance is also necessary, which can be provided by Pokemon like Mega Aerodactyl and Gyarados. Mega Venusaur is a good partner, as it resists the Water-type attacks that threaten Alolan Dugtrio from Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados and Poliwrath. Eevee-S is a potential partner for Alolan Dugtrio, as it can remove potential burns thanks to Sparkly Swirl. This also applies in the rare event that it gets put to sleep.

Other Options
=============
Protect can be used in order to scout moves against the opposing team; however, usually it will not be necessary compared to its standard moves. However, in the event that you run Rock Slide with another Stealth Rock user, Protect can be run over Toxic.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Mega Aerodactyl**: Mega Aerodactyl gives Alolan Dugtrio a hard time if it isn't in range of Sucker Punch; it can easily revenge kill Alolan Dugtrio thanks to its high Speed as well as Earthquake.
**Mega Gengar**: Mega Gengar outspeeds Alolan Dugtrio and OHKOes it with Shadow Ball after minor chip damage. However, it fears Sucker Punch and gets OHKOed by Alolan Dugtrio's Earthquake, meaning it cannot switch in directly.
**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types like Poliwrath and Slowbro give Alolan Dugtrio a hard time, as they can eat any hit and can fire back with their super effective moves, although they fear Toxic. Poliwrath has the added bonus of being a Fighting-type, which gives it a resistance against Rock Slide and another super effective option to hit Alolan Dugtrio with. Other Pokemon like Starmie and Mega Gyarados work as well, although the former runs the risk of taking a Sucker Punch, and the latter is not as bulky as Poliwrath or Slowbro.
**Burns**: Pokemon such as Mew that can inflict burn give Alolan Dugtrio a hard time because they can nullify its Attack stat with Will-O-Wisp.
