Backed by Pure Power, Meditite is a powerful Choice Band wallbreaker in ADV ZU. Meditite capably destroys defensive Pokemon like Corsola, Mightyena, and Porygon with its rare STAB Brick Break. Return deals significant damage to the most common physically defensive Pokemon that resists Fighting, Koffing, as well as Tentacool, and it has nearly perfect coverage with Brick Break, given that Shuppet is the only Ghost-type in the tier and is very uncommon. Shadow Ball destroys Substitute + Calm Mind Drowzee, has perfect neutral coverage with STAB Brick Break, and dents most Pokemon that resist Fighting. Hidden Power Flying 2HKOes bulky Grass-types like Gloom and Tropius and OHKOes Ariados as well as other Pokemon that resist Fighting, but its lower power makes it a less-than-optimal move for Meditite to lock into. A Jolly nature lets Meditite outspeed neutral nature Seaking as well as Speed tie opposing Meditite.
Fast offensive teammates like Ponyta, Doduo, and Abra can more easily clean up teams once Meditite has worn down their defensive cores. Meditite's Speed leaves it vulnerable to faster Pokemon such as Aipom and Ponyta, so defensive teammates that can handle them such as Mightyena, Wartortle, and Corsola are appreciated. Physical walls like Gloom and Tropius are a pain for Meditite to beat on its own without good prediction, so Pokemon like Beedrill, Ponyta, and Quilava make excellent partners by beating them. Baton Pass support from users like Delcatty and Volbeat is appreciated to help Meditite get in more safely. Paralysis support from Castform, Flaaffy, and Porygon can slow down faster offensive Pokemon for Meditite to beat, and Meditite's power compensates for its more utility-oriented teammates. Koffing can switch into Meditite's STAB move, so partners like Corsola, Drowzee, and Ponyta are appreciated as switch-ins to Koffing.

Other Options
=============
High Jump Kick is stronger than Brick Break and can secure some additional KOs against Pokemon like Mightyena, but crash damage from misses and Protect is hugely detrimental to Meditite. Double-Edge is stronger than Return and 2HKOes Koffing, but the recoil damage is not preferred on a Pokemon as frail as Meditite when Return is strong enough for it to break other Pokemon that resist Fighting. A set with Substitute, Leftovers, and Focus Punch can take advantage of the switches Meditite forces, but the surprise factor goes away once the set is revealed, and Meditite is better at dealing immediate damage. A Salac Berry set with Substitute or Endure and Reversal can turn Meditite into a sweeper, but it struggles to set up safely and is vulnerable to being picked off by Quick Attack from offensive Pokemon like Doduo, Ponyta, and Quilava. Fake Out is tempting to compensate for Meditite's middling Speed, but it is very exploitable once it's locked into Fake Out. Baton Pass might seem interesting to help Meditite pivot out of bad matchups, but its role is to deal as much damage as possible instead of trying to position its partners.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Pokemon That Resist Fighting**: Meditite cannot 2HKO Koffing with any of its coverage moves and risks burns from Will-O-Wisp, and Koffing can use Pain Split to keep itself healthy enough to check Meditite. Gloom and Tropius are difficult for Meditite to break through without proper prediction or chip damage, though they are 2HKOed by Hidden Power Flying. Volbeat and Beedrill have to be wary of Meditite's coverage but can take a Choice Band-boosted Brick Break. Drowzee fears Shadow Ball and Return, but physically defensive sets can beat Meditite one-on-one if it's locked into Brick Break or Hidden Power Flying.
**Faster Offensive Pokemon**: Quilava, Abra, and Ponyta all outspeed and OHKO Meditite. Aipom and Doduo can even take advantage of Meditite locked into Shadow Ball. However, almost no faster Pokemon can safely switch into Choice Band Meditite's Brick Break or even Return, so they must be careful.
**Paralysis**: Porygon and Castform's Thunder Wave debilitates Meditite due to its frailty and role as a mid-Speed wallbreaker, making them unsafe to switch into. Body Slam from Delcatty deals significant damage and can punish Meditite with paralysis for trying to switch in to take advantage of it using a non-attacking move.
**Protect**: Protect users like Mightyena, Seaking, and Castform can scout Meditite's move and switch to an appropriate teammate, which is very frustrating from otherwise easy targets for Meditite.
