With the licking avatars thread having turned into a request thread, I think this 1k will be able to bring it back on topic by canvassing the opinions of users on this incredibly important new phenomenon. These are hard quantitative data points, which we can have a reasoned debate about, like the learned posters of Dragonspiral Tower. My research proves these licking icons have some attraction to almost every user, completely contradicting the previous consensus that they're completely idiotic.
This is my 1k thread and each user here (along with a few others that aren't mentioned) has influenced me in some way in my time on smogon. The mushy parts are in hide tags so no one has to read anything dumb.
