Clooooooooooooooooooooooooooyster

This is my first RMT, and as B/W OU isn't very fun for me I have decided to post up an ubers team that I have had pretty good success with, but has some flaws I am incapable of solving.

Cloyster @ Life Orb
Trait: Skill Link
EVs: 232 Atk / 32 SpA / 244 Spe
Naive Nature (+Spe / - SpDef)
- Rock Blast
- Icicle Spear
- Hydro Pump
- Shell Smash

So, obviously I don't actually intend to lead with this in pretty much any situation, it's just there to throw people off. The moveset and EVs are pretty standard, enough SpA to OHKO Steelceus after SR and a layer of Spikes with Hydro Pump in rain, enough speed to outspeed choice scarf Terrakion after shell smash and the rest put into attack for full power. Cloyster is an incredibly powerful sweeper in ubers (given the right support), and can tear through Lugia, Giratina, Ferrothorn and Chansey, all prominent uber walls, without much of a problem, courtesy of powerful Ice-type stab (Ferrothorn will require a bit of prior damage for an OHKO).

There are a few solid counters off the top of my head, physically defensive Kyogre resists Icicle spear / Hydro pump and can take a + 2 rock blast to ohko with Scald; that is the main one, as there are a few other obscure counters that do not see the light of day in ubers, such as empoleon, or unaware quagsire.

Giratina @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 248 Hp / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful (+ Spdef / - SpA)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Dragon Tail
- Will-O-Wisp

Specially defensive Giratina is the main Kyogre counter as far as things go, being able to stomach even two specs Water Spouts from a full hp Kyogre and PP stall with rest and pressure (but if I am smacked by a critical hit I will most likely lose). Giratina can also do other amazing things, like occasionally survive a LO Draco Meteor from any one of Palkia / Dialga / Rayquaza, subsequently resting, and stalling them out (it still has a chance to be ohko'd, so I wouldn't recommend it).

Any form of choice-locked special attacker into something NVE / Neutral will be outstalled, phazed, and/or burned. Lustrous orb Palkia and other non-locked special attackers with a strong fighting / fire attack to complement STABed dragon moves are an issue though, as Ferrothorn / Giratina cannot wall them efficiently; this will require some smart switching or some hot wobbs action.

Kyogre @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 60 Hp / 252 SpA / 196 Spe
Modest (+ SpA / - Atk)
- Water Spout
- Surf
- Thunder
- Ice Beam

The EVs provide enough speed to outspeed base 130s + 1 extra point for speed creep, you may use more or less at your own discretion obviously; max special attack for obvious reasons, rest in Hp for a little bit of bulk.

Catch most revenger, my only real 'check' to CM Mewtwo as Water Spout ohkos even at + 1 provided I am at full hp. If you see a gastrodon in team preview, don't be an idiot and use Water Spout, either double switch to ferro / wobbs or Ice Beam if it is sufficiently weakened. Also lead with this if you see lead darkrai, as I see less and less of them run focus sash (or scarf for that matter) and you can both ohko them and not get something slept hopefully.

Kyogre also provides invaluable drizzle support for Cloyster, bolstering the power of Hydro Pump that allows it to tear through steels that resist Icicle Spear and Rock Blast. Thunder is also a good move to spam to incur paralysis on overzealous Palkia and the like.

Wobbuffet @ Leftovers
Trait: Shadow Tag
EVs: 28 Hp / 228 Def / 252 SpDef
Calm (+ Spdef / - Atk)
- Counter
- Mirror Coat
- Encore
- Safeguard

It's a pity wobbs can't run max speed in ubers, but he really needs the defense to beat four attacks Palkia, choice-locked 'mons and the like. Everything is pretty self-explanatory, safeguard is a bit iffy to use because in theory you should use it before encoring something so it isn't locked into something for 2 turns (which is worthless), however, no one in their right mind is going to status something with safeguard activated, so what you actually have to do is get statused, encore, safeguard, and encore again.

A favourite thing of mine to do is encore protect against slower Ferrothorn, try and predict the protect and switch to wobbs, then you can encore the following turn; it is incredibly sadistic.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Hp / 64 Def / 192 SpDef
Sassy (+ Spdef / - Spe)
0 Spe IV
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Gyro Ball
- Spikes

Ferrothorn's standard set, with a bit of defense because I don't have much in the way of tanking outrage. Gyro Ball over Power Whip because I dislike the inaccuracy the latter has and I need Gyro Ball for Shaymin-S because it is a dick, especially subleech variants.

Everyone knows Ferrothorn's story, amazing typing, 10 resistances, 1 immunity, checks a lot of stuff, sets up hazards, is irritating, leech seeds stuff (BU Dialga needs to be leeched to be reliably 3hko'd by my own's Dragon Pulse iirc).

483.gif

Dialga @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 Hp / 92 SpA / 140 SpDef / 24 Spe
Modest (+ SpA / - Atk)
- Dragon Pulse
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Fire Blast

From what I can remember, the EVs are for, max Hp for max bulk, obviously, enough SpA to 2hko Groudon with FB + Dragon Pulse (or two FBs if I get an unlucky roll iirc), enough Spe to outspeed most lead Groudon and the rest in SpDef.

Dialga is one of the best 'leads' insofar as the lead metagame goes this generation, being able to set up SR against a lot of leads, whilst at the same time threatening all hazards setters (save Tentacruel) and preventing set up sweepers from going to town with roar.

Dialga also checks, as mentioned earlier, opposing BU Dialga with Dragon Pulse and Leech Seed support, Ho-Oh in the rain, and a lot of other stuff. It can also take one Specs Water Spout from Kyogre and retaliate with roar (if hazards are up) or most likely (if Kyogre is spouting) Dragon Pulse.

Threats

Okay this team has quite a few problems, which I will attempt to list here:
Well played stall, with early hazards are a real bitch, Cloyster takes 25% from SR alone and one layer of Toxic Spikes hinders his sweeping capabilities greatly, putting him into ES KO range from standard SD Normal Arceus after just 1 turn of LO damage + SR + Toxic Spikes.

Darkrai, if brought out midgame or leading with sash/scarf is a real bitch, as with the support I need to provide Cloyster no pokemon is often dispensable enough to be allowed to put to sleep. Not to mention if Kyogre is down I can't even revenge kill it, meaning I have to rely on Focus Blast missing at least once on Dialga or Ferrothorn.

Zekrom, one variant, subhone, completely walks over Ferrothorn and obviously Giratina can't take it.

Palkia, four attack variants bluffing a choice item can take me by surprise and rape Ferrothorn or Giratina up the ass, leaving my team really weak to certain threats that would otherwise be handily dealt with.

Mewtwo, the offensive CM variant can be checked by scarf Kyogre, but otherwise deals a heavy number to this team. Giratina can stomach one + 1 LO Ice Beam to phaze / burn, but otherwise I'm reduced to 'smart' switching and outpredicting.

Ironically enough, I am also weak to opposing Cloyster and straight up 6-0'd if I let it set up, thankfully it is rare.

A dual sweeper combination, e.g. SD Rayquaza + SD Arceus with the right moveset, basically, I am over reliant on Kyogre to check things, and most things I can only check once if SD Rayquaza sacs itself to mortally wound my Kyogre, which then leaves me open to a lot of other things. Not much I can do really.

Considered Changes -
Giratina / Ferrothorn have been experimented to a change to Skarmory / Gastrodon to better cover SD Arceus, however, this leaves me weak to Zekrom, among other things.

At the moment I would consider Dialga to be somewhat replaceable, if need be, however, I would be hard pressed to find something that could offer the incredibly team support that he does.

So, that's it.

rate/hate/steal

you can try Darkrai somewhere, as it has good synergy with cloyster(weakens kyogre and manaphy, lures scarf terrakion etc; because of that I would focus on power for cloyster) Also you can go hasty to help if forry uses volt change.

for darkrai, you can even try Thunder as it will damage kyogre and manaphy(the ones walling cloyster) hard.

Now you have Darkrai Wobb Kyogre and Cloyster. I'd go for Ground Arceus and Tentacruel for the last two slots because you need to absorb TS and switch into Specs Kyogre here and there. And Ground Arceus is so awesome in general.

Sorry for making a "remake a team" instead of "rate a team" but these are some things I had in mind for some time and since I deinstalled PO and dont feel like installing it again I will leave these things here.

I don't really agree with Cloyster in Ubers, since Kyogre and Palkia can both wall it to the next century, and KO it with Thunder . But if you must......switch Life Orb for Focus Sash to give it better survivability, and switch the spread to 252 Attack/252 Speed/4 Defense. Plus, switch Razor Shell for Hydro Pump, since Cloyster is more geared for physical attacking. This way, it can stand a better chance.

clearly you didn't read, king john; non physically defensive kyogre is ohko'd by rock blast, and palkia is ohko'd by icicle spear, cloyster once set up is one of the most threatening sweepers in ubers.

furthermore focus sash can't be used because life orb is needed for the power, and no i'm not switching spreads because hydro pump is needed for steelceus and packs a lot more power than razor shell even with lower investment. your justifications are seriously weak.

hey good team there i have only suggestion though, change Giratina for bulky groudon it has way more bulk and opens a slot for your Dialga to go more offensive.

Now when I think about it, you're right. Cloyster would need the extra power boost with Life Orb, plus I forgot to take into account other threats. Excuse my last post.
