A breloom without Toxic Orb?

You guys heard me. A breloom without toxic orb. How stupid does that sound?

Here's the breloom i'm running on my team

Breloom @ Leftovers
44 HP / 252 Atk / 212 Spd
Adamant Nature
Ability: Poison Heal
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Spore
- Seed Bomb

This breloom is meant as a punisher to the people who run toxic/toxic spikes. My team is ridiculously weak towards toxic ( 4/6 would die to Tspikes, and 5/6 to Toxic), and i used this as a counter. Predict correctly and switch this onto a toxic, or switch this upon Tspikes, and you have an amazing 18% heal per turn.

It is a bit gimmicky, but when you look at the teams on the RMT forums and realize most of them has toxic spikes, then you realize this breloom is going to make them suffer.

It really depends on the team, I'm looking for ways to improve my OU SS TR team and I might actually use this, since a certain someone gave me some helpful advice to include some offense to clean up. I got destroyed by a Toxistalling Vaporeon my first match. x_x Yay too specific counters.

Seems like a sound enough plan. I'd say go for it. I personally would still prefer Toxic Orb, that way you don't have to worry about depending on your oponent for toxic spikes.

Maybe leech seed over seed bomb. This will make the set a little easier to use if your oppontent doesn't run Tspikes, and allow you to sub-seed. (EDIT: Beaten!)
However, without toxic orb you run the risk of being burnt/paralysed, neither of which are good for breloom :(
...Ben

Sounds good except for the fact that most people poison Breloom with the Orb so it can heal and become a general status absorber. And a paralyzed or burned Breloom is a bad Breloom... That's how I use it anyways. But I'm not a risktaker so...

Also, note that Stone Edge kills all of it's overspecialized counters(Ariados,Noctowl...not that someone uses them, but Honchrow is used, and it gets killed by Stone Edge too),so Breloom is a SURPRISE Scarfer if you want(130 base attack, remember?),plus being able to fast sleep and with 100%accuracy.

Stone Edge
Sky Uppercut
Seed Bomb
Spore/Thunderpunch

you would have to go effect spore with thunderpunch as thunderpunch and poison heal are an illegal combo

Breloom @ Focus Sash
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
Ability: Effect Spore
- ThunderPunch
- Focus Punch
- Spore
- Counter

This is the breloom lead I've been running on Shoddy. Complete with Legit moveset.
This thing works wonders.

That looks good.

Ok, i just had an irony of a lifetime on shoddy. After placing my breloom on, there were no more toxic users until i removed it..
O yeah, subseeding looks good. The only worry i have for it is ghosts... but i think that life drained per team can keep it up. Thanks.

wow, that actually sounds interesting! Maybe even deserving of its own topic...

Really? Haha, I think we'll just keep it in this one.
I had a great moment on Shoddy today with Breloom though.

Thunderpunch crits and OHKO his Gyarados first turn.
Counter OHKO's Infernape after a Flare Blitz.
Spore + Focus Punch cripples Umbreon.

Fin.

I was thinking of tis yesterday on my super offensive team, but I choose not to since you can't block will-o-wisp or thunder wave. :(

how about using leftovers/poison heal breloom in a double battle and purposely poisoning your breloom (i'm pretty sure you can poison an ally)? weird idea but it seems cool enough.

max hp breloom heals about 58 hp per turn. not bad if you ask me.

although breloom isn't super sturdy so it may not make a huge difference.

NO. A new topic for every set would get annoying.

It might work if Toxic Spikes get more popular, but I'd rather stick with the reliable Toxic Orb. Not to mention that you can be Burned now.

It's a bit like running CB Swellow instead of Toxic Orb Swellow. It'll pay off in the occassional battle and when it does, the opponent is in trouble. But in the other 4/5 battles, you're stuck with a Pokemon that isnt achieving it's full potential.

Not to mention that you can be Burned now.

I totally agree with this. Not only would a toxic orb be guaranteed Poison, but also block all other stats burn/sleep/paralysis. Also Blissey could be running toxic or thunder wave, so in order to find out you would have to use another pokemon.

Ehh, the 18% recovery is impressive.. but not on something like breloom since its so frail and will easily die to even neutral hits. Its also pretty slow so it can't really substitute that well either. The idea is good and can be really annoying but I'd rather just take the 12% heal and a status absorber right after the first turn and not depend on the other person to use toxic spikes.

Well, the 18% works for substituting, but i see your point, he's too frail. I'll still try him for a few more battles first though.

The 18% recovery instead of 12% (Poison Heal) or 6% (Leftovers) is indeed a nice bonus. However, with more Pokemon running Thunder Wave, and Hypnosis, as well as some running Double Powder and Will-o-Wisp, wrong prediction can make you get screwed over. :/

Effect Spore over Poison heal for this since you're not using Poison Heal anyway. And give it Thunderpunch for coverage.

Did you read the paragraph? He intends to switch this into Toxic or Toxic Spikes.

Plus, Effect Spore is terrible on Breloom. What if something hits you, is Paralyzed, then can't be Spored?
