[SET COMMENTS]
Amoonguss stands as a strong defensive piece for Poison teams thanks to its Grass typing enabling it to check many of the dangerous Ground- and Water-types of the tier such as Excadrill, Great Tusk, and Urshifu-R. Giga Drain serves double duty keeping Amoonguss healthy along with checking threats like Sandy Shocks, Hisuian Samurrot, and Swampert. Foul Play punishes setup attempts by the likes of Swords Dance Ogerpon-W and Dragon Dance Dragonite along with pressuring Ghost- and Psychic-types like Dragapult and Iron Boulder. Spore allows Amoonguss to put opposing threats to sleep which can allow for safe entry for its teammates.
Toxapex can serve as an excellent defensive partner for Amoonguss dealing with Fire- and Ice-types that stomp Amoonguss too like Cinderace, Iron Moth, and Weavile while Amoonguss can threaten the Ground- and Electric-types that scare Toxapex such as Iron Treads, Sandy Shocks, and Regieleki. Alolan Muk can support Amoonguss by checking problematic special attackers such as Spectrier, Greninja, and Hatterene. Assault Vest Galarian Slowking is capable of checking problematic special attackers such as Iron Moth, Heatran, Latios, and Zapdos with tools such as Earthquake and Ice Beam. Galarian Weezing provides Defog support in case Amoonguss loses its Heavy-Duty Boots and checking Ground- and Dragon-types Amoonguss struggles against such as Mamoswine, Swords Dance Garchomp, and Roaring Moon. Iron Moth can check Steel- and Ice-types for Amoonguss like Gholdengo, Corviknight, and Alolan Ninetales while greatly apprecating Amoonguss catching Choice Scarf Urshifu-R and Great Tusk. Okidogi and Sneasler can break through problematic special walls that sit on Amoonguss like Hisuian Goodra and Blissey while also being able to beatdown foes such as Heatran, Bisharp and Ursaluna. Choice Scarf Sneasler can also handle targets such as Choice Scarf Hoopa-U and Choice Specs Greninja for Amoonguss and greatly appreciates Spore giving it safe entry.

Energy Ball can be used over Giga Drain giving a solid power increase enabling Amoonguss to always getting the OHKO Barraskewda and Great Tusk after a Headlong Rush while also having a favorable roll to break defensive Landorus-T Substitutes. Rocky Helmet is an option to help check foes such as Urshifu-R and Iron Hands more reliably but does give up the safety of Heavy-Duty Boots which can make Amoonguss less reliable against types such as Ground and Dark which rely on hazard stacking to wear down walls.
