[SET]
Kyurem @ Loaded Dice
Name: Mixed Dragon Dance (Dragon)
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Icicle Spear
- Scale Shot
- Earth Power
[SET COMMENTS]
Kyurem is an incredible setup sweeper for Dragon teams thanks to its good Speed tier and good natural bulk. Known primarily as a special wallbreaker, a physical set is far less expected and harder to check. With Dragon Dance and Loaded Dice, Kyurem threatens special walls like Hisuian Goodra, Clodsire, and Assault Vest Hoopa-U after an attack boost, creates holes in the Flying cores by 2HKOing Corviknight and Skarmory after Stealth Rock, and can break through Ground-types after gaining Speed from Scale Shots and Fire-types once Heatran's Air Balloon is popped. Earth Power allows Kyurem to hit Steel-types that resist its STAB combination, like non-Air Balloon Heatran, and 2HKO defensive Archaludon. A Naive nature lets Kyurem outspeed until base 90 speed mons like Great Tusk and Hisuian Samurott, and with two Speed boosts, it can also outspeed Excadrill under sand, Kingdra under rain, and Choice Scarf Dragapult.
Dragon Dance Kyurem struggles to set up against physical walls such as Dondozo and Skarmory and is pressured by Fighting-type attackers like Iron Valiant, Urshifu-R, and Great Tusk. Teammates that provide speed control and defensive support are essential. Archaludon checks physical attackers such as Dragapult and Dragonite, sets Stealth Rock, and spreads Thunder Wave, slowing fast threats like Meowscarada, Iron Valiant, and Dragapult. Likewise, Latias offers valuable role compression by utilizing a Choice Scarf to eliminate Latios and non-Choice Scarf Sneasler, and Healing Wish to give Kyurem a second chance to sweep. Dragapult supports Kyurem with utility options like Will-O-Wisp, crippling physical checks such as Mamoswine and Great Tusk and creating setup opportunities. Choice Specs Dragapult can outright remove or heavily dent offensive checks like Iron Crown, Walking Wake, and Gholdengo. Latios and Raging Bolt act as strong special wallbreakers, pressuring bulky Poison- and Water-types such as Galarian Weezing, Dondozo, and Toxapex. Raging Bolt's Thunderclap also provides priority against faster threats, picking off Greninja and Sneasler. Kommo-o improves difficult Dark- and Steel-type matchups by pressuring Pokemon like Hisuian Samurott, Bisharp, and Skarmory. Choice Scarf Roaring Moon provides additional speed control and revenge kills threats like unboosted Dragapult. Hisuian Goodra handles special attackers like Flutter Mane, Hatterene, and Greninja.
