Amoonguss is a strong physically defensive pivot thanks to a solid defensive typing with many relevant resistances to Pokemon like Florges, Milotic, and Pawmot while also functioning as a solid check to Rhydon and Mudsdale, two great status moves in Toxic and Stun Spore to punish switch-ins and defensive Pokemon like the aforementioned, and Regenerator. Toxic and Stun Spore are dependent on what team Amoonguss is on and what it wants to punish. Toxic is useful all-around for punishing common switch-ins like Bombirdier and Rotom-H, while Stun Spore is nicher but useful for punishing Pokemon immune to Toxic like Salazzle and Toxicroak. Foul Play hits Psychic-types like Hoopa and Delphox as well as some physical attackers like Ambipom harder than Giga Drain does. Hex also hits Hoopa, but has a more limited pool of targets in exchange for synergizing well with Toxic or Stun Spore. Synthesis is the most common option in the last moveslot since it gives Amoonguss access to reliable recovery, letting it stay in longer, but is not always needed thanks to Regenerator's recovery; however, Sludge Bomb threatens a Poison chance on switch-ins like Rotom-H, who would otherwise be unafraid of switching into Stun Spore variants of Amoonguss. Stomping Tantrum is also an option to specifically OHKO Salazzle, a Pokemon that Amoonguss is otherwise unable to do much against, and a better option in the Amoonguss mirror than Giga Drain, Foul Play, or Hex. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Amoonguss to avoid entry hazards damage, which can rack up quickly and impact its Regenerator recovery. Rocky Helmet lets Amoonguss be less passive and rack up chip damage on physical attackers like Grimmsnarl and Triple Axel Alolan Sandslash, while annoying U-turn users like Zoroark and Hisuian Decidueye. Eject Button synergizes well with Regenerator, giving Amoonguss' team a one-time pivot. Tera Water flips its matchups on threatening Fire-types like Arcanine and Paldean Tauros-F on its head, while Tera Steel is more useful to patch up its Psychic-type weakness versus Pokemon such as Espeon and Bruxish while still keeping its stellar Florges matchup.

Amoonguss' weaknesses to strong Fire-type Pokemon such as Salazzle, Arcanine, and Delphox will need to be managed by a partner. As such, it is recommended to run a Water-type like Milotic or Cramorant to cover these. Milotic can bring Amoonguss in on its own checks like Shaymin with a Flip Turn, while Cramorant can remove entry hazards and allow more flexibility in Amoonguss' item. In return, Amoonguss can switch into Grass- and Electric-types such as Hisuian Decidueye and Pawmot for them. Amoonguss' Psychic-type weakness is also prevalent, leaving it weak to Pokemon such as Bruxish and Espeon, so it is advised to use a Dark-type like Grimmsnarl or Bombirdier, which can switch into these threatening Dark-types. These Dark-types appreciate Amoonguss covering Florges for them. Amoonguss ends up fitting best on bulky offense teams that appreciate a more reliable defensive option than offensive pivot, so bulky offense staples like Hisuian Avalugg and Lanturn are recommended as partners. Other status from potential partners with Scald or Will-O-Wisp like Milotic and Rotom-H can boost Hex damage and prevent Amoonguss from taking as much damage from physical attackers.

ready for qc. of note, i removed clear smog as a slash because i could not justify an explanation for it. it seems its only real niche is properly beating cm flors that aren't tera steel, although i didn't really consider that relevant.

Amoonguss is a strong physically defensive pivot thanks to a solid defensive typing with many relevant resistances to Pokemon like Florges and Pawmot, two great status moves in Toxic and Stun Spore to punish switch-ins, and Regenerator. (I think a huge part of Amoongs game is that you are reliable as a pivot to other defensive threats too, since stuff like Milotic / Don / Duduns / Muds / etc really can't deal with it on their own and amoong just fucks them with status in turn.) Toxic and Stun Spore are dependent on what team Amoonguss is on and what it wants to punish. Toxic is more useful for punishing defensive Pokemon like Bombirdier and Rotom-H, while Stun Spore is more useful for punishing offensive Pokemon like Salazzle and Toxicroak, who can all find openings on Amoonguss. Foul Play hits Hoopa (could mention just psychic-types in general fwiw, its a nice hit on Espeon and the like too) and some physical attackers like Ambipom harder than Giga Drain does. Hex also hits Hoopa, but has a more limited pool of targets in exchange for synergizing well with Toxic and Stun Spore. (Mentioning how its useful when your on teams with stuff like Scald Milo or Will O Wisp Rotom probably could be mentioned here too since these teams make spreading around status for amoong super easy) Synthesis is the most common option in the last moveslot since it gives Amoonguss access to reliable recovery, letting it stay in longer; however, Sludge Bomb threatens a Poison chance on switch-ins like Rotom-H and Goodra, who would otherwise be unafraid of switching into Stun Spore variants of Amoonguss. (Imo you can probably mention that you could genuninely run a set of stabs + status + synth if you wanted to but its generally outclassed, but you can decide that yourself) Stomping Tantrum is also an option to specifically OHKO Salazzle, a Pokemon that Amoonguss is otherwise unable to do much again against. (mention thats its also the best option for amoong in the mirror if it really gets to it imo) Heavy-Duty Boots allows Amoonguss to avoid entry hazards damage, which can rack up quickly and impact its Regenerator recovery. Rocky Helmet lets Amoonguss be less pasive and rack up chip damage on physical attackers like Grimmsnarl and Triple Axel Alolan Sandslash. (Should be worth mentioning that a huge part of this too is freely fucking with pivot spammers like ambipom / zoro / brux too) Eject Button synergizes well with Regenerator, giving Amoonguss' team a one-time pivot while making Amoonguss a Poltergeist switch-in for Golurk after its use. (Idt this is really too too relevant anymore as Golurk in of itself isnt as common as in the past.) Tera Water flips its matchups on threatening Fire-types like Arcanine and Paldean Tauros-F on its head, while Tera Steel is more useful to patch up its Psychic-type weakness versus Pokemon such as Espeon and Bruxish while still keeping its stellar Florges matchup.

(Its worth to mention what teams amoongus fits mainly on, that being bulky offense teams needing a pivot that can be more reliable than more offensive options)

Amoonguss is a strong physically defensive pivot thanks to a its solid defensive typing, (AC) which has with many relevant resistances to Pokemon (Amoonguss's typing does not resist Pokemon, it resists moves. Did you mean "...resistances to STAB moves from Pokemon like..."?) like Florges, Milotic, and Pawmot while also functioning allowing it to function as a solid check to Rhydon and Mudsdale (RC). (AP) It also benefits from Regenerator as well as two great status moves in Toxic and Stun Spore to punish switch-ins and defensive Pokemon like the aforementioned (RC) and Regenerator. Toxic and Stun Spore are dependent on what team Amoonguss is on and what it wants to punish (the next sentence explains what specifically Toxic and Stun Spore punish, so this sentence is probably unnecessary). Toxic is useful all-around (not sure if "all-around" is adding anything to this sentence) for punishing common switch-ins like Bombirdier and Rotom-H, while Stun Spore is nicher more niche but useful for punishing Pokemon immune to Toxic like Salazzle and Toxicroak. Foul Play hits Psychic-types like Hoopa and Delphox as well as some physical attackers like Ambipom harder than Giga Drain does. Hex also hits Hoopa (RC) but has a more limited pool of targets in exchange for synergizing well with Toxic or Stun Spore. Synthesis is the most common option in the last moveslot since it gives Amoonguss access to reliable recovery, letting it stay in longer, but it is not always needed thanks to Regenerator's recovery Regenerator; however, Sludge Bomb threatens a Poison chance on Bomb's chance to poison threatens switch-ins like Rotom-H, who would otherwise be unafraid of switching into Stun Spore variants of Amoonguss. Stomping Tantrum is also an option to specifically OHKO Salazzle, a Pokemon that Amoonguss is otherwise unable to do much against, and it is a better option in the against opposing Amoonguss mirror than Giga Drain, Foul Play, or Hex. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Amoonguss to avoid entry hazards hazard damage, which can rack up quickly and impact its Regenerator recovery (I'm confused what this is supposed to mean, so maybe it should be clarified or reworded - how does entry hazard damage impact Regenerator?). Rocky Helmet lets Amoonguss be less passive and rack up chip damage on against physical attackers like Grimmsnarl and Triple Axel Alolan Sandslash (RC) while annoying U-turn users like Zoroark and Hisuian Decidueye. Eject Button synergizes well with Regenerator, giving Amoonguss' Amoonguss's team a one-time pivot. Tera Water flips its Amoonguss's matchups on against threatening Fire-types like Arcanine and Paldean Tauros-F on its their head, while Tera Steel is more useful to patch up its Psychic-type weakness versus Pokemon such as Espeon and Bruxish while still keeping its stellar (maybe choose a different word since Stellar means something specific in the Pokemon context) matchup against Florges matchup.
