No Guard (Zapdos) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 SpA/ 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Zap Cannon
- Hurricane
- U-turn
- Roost / Heat Wave

Zapdos is able to take advantage of No Guard to spam it’s normally inaccurate but powerful STAB moves, and reliably spread paralysis with Zap Cannon. U-turn does solid damage to Roaring Moon, and lets Zapdos pivot out of special walls like Swampert and Iron Treads, generating momentum for its team. Roost gives Zapdos longevity, letting it check Great Tusk, while Heat Wave hits Volt Absorb Corvinight and Bulletproof Iron Treads, which normally shuts down Zapdos.

Zapdos fits on balance and bulky offensive teams, where it enables other offensive wallbreakers with paralysis and U-turn support. Zapdos naturally matches up well against physically defensive Corviknight and Manaphy, so it's a great partner to help physical attackers like Kingambit and Chien Pao break. The Ogerpon formes are especially good teammates, since they outspeed and threaten Roaring Moon after a paralysis, even with Choice Scarf, while also handling Swampert and Iron Treads. Zapdos is weak to physical threats like Chien Pao and Zamazenta, so it needs backup from physically defensive walls like Corviknight and Pecharunt. Zapdos is also threatened by faster special attackers such as Latios and Deoxys-S, so RegenVest users like Swampert and Manaphy are appreciated.

Heavy-Duty Boots is necessary to circumvent Zapdos’ Stealth Rock weakness.

Zapdos is able to take advantage of No Guard to spam it’s normally inaccurate but powerful STAB moves, and reliably spread paralysis with Zap Cannon. U-turn does solid damage to Roaring Moon, and lets Zapdos pivot out of special walls like Swampert and Iron Treads nitpick but you can add rmoon here too probs, generating momentum for its team. Roost gives Zapdos longevity, letting it check Great Tusk, while Heat Wave hits Volt Absorb Corvinight and Bulletproof Iron Treads specifying bproof bc vest doesnt like wball a lot, which normally shuts down Zapdos. Heavy-Duty Boots is necessary to circumvent Zapdos’ Stealth Rock weakness. for the most part boots on rocks weak mons tend to be quite self explanatory so you dont need to include it as a note for the future

The Ogerpon formes are especially good teammates, since they outspeed and threaten Roaring Moon after a paralysis might be worth mentioning that it outspeeds even scarf moon instead to emphasize how slow moon is after para, while also handling Swampert and Iron Treads. Zapdos is weak to physical threats like Chien Pao and Zamazenta, so it needs backup from physically defensive walls like Corviknight and Pecharunt.
