Scrafty makes the difference in the Dragon and Ghost matchups. Thanks to its Psychic-type immunity and good special bulk, it can tank special moves from Choice Specs Dragapult, Latios, and Gholdengo, while Shed Skin allows Scrafty to absorb status for the team. With Bulk Up, Scrafty enhances both its offensive and defensive utility and becomes able to win its duel against Archaludon. Drain Punch recovers part of the damage it inflicts and synergizes well with Bulk Up, while Knock Off deals with Psychic- and Ghost-type targets that Drain Punch does not cover such as Latios, Galarian Slowking, Dragapult, and Gholdengo. Combined with Shed Skin, Rest becomes a reliable recovery move and lets Scrafty withstand multiple powerful special moves from the likes of Greninja, Latios, and Dragapult; with a Careful nature, Scrafty is only 3HKOed by Latios's Draco Meteor.

Scrafty is well supported by Great Tusk, which can clear entry hazards from the field, set Stealth Rock, and use Knock Off to remove items such as Leftovers and Rocky Helmet from the likes of Corviknight and Garchomp. In return, Scrafty can take special moves from Dragapult and Latios. Assault Vest Iron Hands and Gallade are two prominent partners that can ease Scrafty's defensive burden for the team while also threatening out Fairy-type Pokemon like Iron Valiant and Primarina that it cannot hurt significantly. Iron Hands can especially make the difference in the Flying and Water matchups by removing Tornadus-T, Choice Scarf Enamorus, Choice Specs Kingdra, and Primarina. Gallade, on the other hand, improves the Fighting and Poison matchups, as it slashes through Keldeo, Iron Valiant, Toxapex, and Galarian Weezing. By virtue of its more defensive role, Scrafty needs to be surrounded by powerful wallbreakers that can make progress in the game like Sneasler, Iron Valiant, Urshifu-R, and Keldeo. Choice Scarf Sneasler provides an offensive check to Fairy-type foes such as Choice Specs Flutter Mane and Iron Valiant and can cripple Toxapex with Switcheroo, while Unburden Sneasler is a great finisher in the Fairy and Dragon matchups. Iron Valiant puts the pressure on the Steel, Flying, and Water defensive cores, easily disposing of Skarmory, Gliscor, defensive Gyarados, and Toxapex. It also synergizes well with Scrafty defensively by providing a Dragon immunity to shut down both Choice Specs Dragapult and Latios. Lastly, Urshifu-R and Keldeo are both solid options to improve specific matchups like the Ground and Dark matchups, respectively, destroying their offensive and defensive cores with their STAB combination.

Thanks to its Psychic-type immunity, good special bulk, and Shed Skin, Scrafty makes the difference in the Dragon, Ghost and Steel (questionable, always lose vs skarm. Maybe bug would be better?) matchups, tanking special moves from Choice Specs Dragapult, Latios, and Gholdengo while absorbing status for the team. With Bulk Up, Scrafty enhances both its offensive and defensive utility, making it very hard to break on both physical and special sides, being able to win its duel against Archaludon. Drain Punch lets it recover part of the damage it inflicts and synergizes well with Bulk Up. Knock Off deals with Psychic-, Ghost- targets that Drain Punch does not cover such as Latios, Galarian Slowking, Dragapult, and Gholdengo. Combined with Shed Skin, Rest becomes a reliable recovery move and lets Scrafty withstand multiple powerful special moves from the likes of Greninja, Latios, and Dragapult. (mention why spdef nature is needed. Doesnt need a new sentence since you mentioned the spattackers already)

Scrafty is well supported by Great Tusk, which can clear entry hazards from the field, set Stealth Rock, and Knock Off items such as Leftovers and Rocky Helmet. In return, Scrafty can take special moves for Great Tusk from Dragapult, Latios, and Kyurem (would rather not kyu since scraf wants to be healthy for the 2 earlier mons) . Assault Vest Iron Hands and Gallade are two prominent partners that can ease Scrafty's burden while also threatening out Fairy Pokémon like Iron Valiant and Primarina that Scrafty cannot hurt significantly. Iron Hands can especially make the difference in the Flying and Water matchups by removing Tornadus-T, Choice Scarf Enamorus, Choice Specs Kingdra, and Primarina. On the other hand, Gallade improves the Fighting and Poison matchups, as it slashes through Keldeo, Iron Valiant, Toxapex, and Galarian Weezing. *do sneasler first, dogi feels a bit niche w/ scraf since its gonna be 3 slow guys since you'd need Hands or Gallade along with scraf anyway. If you're not feeling dogi you can cut dogi too if you want Okidogi offers great synergy with Scrafty, as it comes with a much appreciated Fairy neutrality, which lets it handle better Fairy threats such as Flutter Mane while benefitting from the Psychic immunity Scrafty brings to the team. By virtue of its more defensive role, Scrafty needs to be surrounded by powerful wallbreakers that can make progress in the game like Iron Valiant, Urshifu-R, Keldeo, and Sneasler. Blessed with a wonderful movepool and solid offensive stats, Iron Valiant puts the pressure on the Steel, Flying and Water defensive cores, easily disposing of Skarmory, Gliscor, Defensive Gyarados, and Toxapex. It also combines well defensively by providing a Dragon immunity to shut down both Choice Specs Dragapult and Latios. Urshifu-R and Keldeo are both solid options to improve the Ground (keld doesnt do enough vs ground, does a bit more vs dark tho. Wouldnt lump these 2 guys together at least) and Fire matchups, destroying their offensive and defensive cores with their STAB moves combination. Lastly, Choice Scarf Sneasler provides a way to deal offensively with Fairy foes like Choice Specs Flutter Mane and Iron Valiant and can cripple a threat with Switcheroo.(mention unburden sneas since it gives you a fast guy to offset Scraf, and finishes off Fairies, deals with Dragons once Scraf wears them out. Put sneas much earlier too, to before IVal imo)

Heyyy
- Mention Knock off Targets in the Great Tusk sentence (what mons are using helm and lefties?)
- Provide a switcheroo target in the Sneasler sentence.

The rest is well written QC 2/2 after implements.

i spent a while amchecking this but unfort don't have time to finish. still, i spent a lot of time thinking about this and don't want it to go to waste, so i'm going to share some high level commentary which might help with your approach to this and future articles.

your first paragraph confuses me, and i think a lot of it is because you're trying to pack a ton of ideas in all at once. i found myself asking:
  • am i running scrafty specifically because it's good in the ghost and dragon matchups?
  • is the only reason to run bulk up to check archaludon? if not, why am i using this over some other specially defensive set?
i workshopped the first sentence for a while before i landed on something that felt like it was emphasizing the right points (any additional clarification unconsidered)
ThankScrafty brings to Fighting teams a Psychic-type immunity, good special bulk, and status absorption via Shed Skin, Scrafty makes the differencwhich allow it to shine in the Dragon and Ghost matchups, where it can tanking special move powerful attacks from Choice Specs Dragapult, Latios, and Gholdengo while absorbing status for the team, and Choice Specs Dragapult.
as the reader of this article, i want to know what this set does and why i would use it. here, we tell them up front that they're getting a psychic immunity, special bulk, and a status soaker. for some people, that's all the information they need. they can export the set, paste it in the teambuilder, and queue up a game. for those who stay, they'll see how these qualities function in practice (better ghost/dragon matchup; latios, gholdengo, dragapult check)

in general i think it would serve you well to:
  • pace the rate at which you give information; break up sentences that contain too many different ideas
  • read your writing aloud to yourself. does it sound natural? if not, play around with it until it does
  • think about what information is most important and eliminate anything that distracts from it
  • consider which gaps you can trust your reader to fill in themselves
as an example:
Knock Off deals with Psychic-, Ghost- targets that Drain Punch does not cover such as Latios, Galarian Slowking, Dragapult, and Gholdengo.
the reader doesn't need your help thinking of psychic and ghost types that take more from knock off than drain punch, and we've already called out three of these by name just a few sentences before this. just a couple sentences later, we mention latios and dragapult for a third time.

i would also recommend breaking up these paragraphs because it's a LOT to take in. compare what you have in the OP:

it's much easier to skim. you can look for keywords (corviknight, flutter mane) to find specific, relevant information. and as the reader, i don't look at it and say "I ain't reading all that. I'm happy for you though, or sorry that happened."

there's clearly good info in here and some minor tweaks could make this a serviceable analysis. that said, refining your writing style could make you a great writer.

hiya, monotype only goes by the two paragraphs format so first paragraph showcases scrafty and the second paragraph talks about the teammates, which can be lengthy since a bunch of these teammates are dope when paired with scrafty. But maybe in the future we can break it up idk haha.

  • am i running scrafty specifically because it's good in the ghost and dragon matchups?
    - yes this is honestly like the main reason scrafty is being run on fighting meta teams rn which appreciates the ghost resist while against dragon matchup provides as a psychic immunity ( which just stops the latis from spamming psychic) and a great swap in into Pult.

  • is the only reason to run bulk up to check archaludon? if not, why am i using this over some other specially defensive set?
    - if was for both for gouging fire originally but Gouging Fire got banned so i think this was more of a fill in the blank part. but like you have av gallade as well so i get your point.

As i am not the writer here, i still appreciate you giving feedback ryan!

re: paragraph structure, i would definitely say follow conventions > my advice but i would also have that feedback for those conventions as well

re: dragon/ghost matchup, totally makes sense. thanks for clarifying. in fact i overlooked that two of showl's three examples in that sentence are dragons, so i think that even with the way it's written, that would be clear to most people.

ok hello back with a full check. i tried to rework some of the heavier handed changes i suggested previously and retracted some suggested omissions.

as a general callout, i would encourage carefully considering when and how to use examples. i left some notes on a pair of them below. no changes necessary, but i wanted to give some perspective that might help you write more impactful analyses in the future. always think about your reader as you write.

overall good work!! i commented previously that some changes would make this a serviceable analysis, which reads overly harsh in retrospect. some changes would make this cleaner, but it definitely did its job as written.

*this part confused me. you're saying that Great Tusk supports a Pokemon with Knock Off by using Knock Off, and there's no clear reason why Scrafty would need help with Garchomp in particular. it might help to add clarity: how does Great Tusk knocking these guys help Scrafty who would presumably do it on a switch? how does doing anything to Garchomp help Scrafty?

**this is an instance where i find myself wondering why i care about these pokemon in particular. same applies to the iron hands examples. why does scrafty need help against water/psn matchups? why toxapex and kingdra? no changes needed here but some things to consider for the future. maybe someone more familiar with the format would know but i fear a newer player might be lost

***consider removing. it's fine as written, but i think it belabors the point

****do you mean to use respectively here? seems like both would be good in both matchups, but if you mean to say urshifu is good vs. ground and keldeo vs. dark, keep it in. for clarity, respectively would be used like: Venusaur, Meganium, and Sceptile are Grass-type starters from Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn, respectively

hi Showl! responding to your points from discord:

1st sentence changed seems to have a very different meaning, making it a bit confusing. It seems to suggest that Psychic immunity + Special bulk + Shed Skin are needed to tank special moves and to absorb status, which establishes a direct causal link between them while it is meant to rather be 3 aspects of Scrafty that notably translates into two positive outcomes/benefits for the team.
i take your meaning. i think we're just packing too much information into one sentence here. how do you feel about:
Scrafty makes the difference in the Dragon and Ghost matchups. Thanks to its Psychic-type immunity and good special bulk, it can tank special moves from Choice Specs Dragapult, Latios, and Gholdengo, while Shed Skin allows Scrafty to absorb status for the team.

nitpick for the next one, but "gains the ability" sounds weird to refer to BU.
i actually don't disagree with you here, but Bulk Up is the thing that is making Scrafty able while Scrafty is the subject of the sentence. we could go with:
Bulk Up enhances Scrafty's offensive and defensive utility and [makes it able/enables it] to win its duel against Archaludon.
or
With Bulk Up, Scrafty enhances both its offensive and defensive utility and becomes able to win its duel against Archaludon.

For the rephrasing of the last sentence of Paragraph 1, would there be possible to keep the flow intact? Like one continuous phrase instead of breaking the flow with the semi-colon.
going to say no to this one. you really can't tack on a highly specific dependent clause to such a general broader thought. i actually went with the semicolon there specifically to maintain flow and keep a visual link between the thoughts.

I also do not understand why adding "threatening" below. I do not know much about other meta's in which Tusk is, but in Monotype, Tusk is used mostly offensively, so its special bulk is almost non-existent.
this makes sense to me. let's cut it.

I do not understand the change of "while also" to "by", they have both very different meaning and actually change the meaning of the sentence. Gallade/Hands take part of the defensive burden of Scrafty while also being good into some Fairy mons. These are two distinct elements that are not meant to be combined.
this is helpful context. i read these thoughts as linked, so let's make it clearer that they're not. how do you feel about:
Assault Vest Iron Hands and Gallade are two prominent partners that can ease Scrafty's defensive burden for the team while also threatening out Fairy-type Pokemon like Iron Valiant and Primarina that it cannot hurt significantly.

In the same vein, replacing "on the other hand" by "additionally" makes that part quite confusing. As the previous sentence speaks of Hands while the next one is about Gallade, it seems not appropriate. My understanding of this change would be that Gallade does everything Hands do + some extras, which is not true. Although they both fill the same role, their application field is vastly different.
i changed this to "additionally" because both the iron hands sentence and this gallade sentence are emphasizing the one that came before, that both of them make good partners. i understand what you're saying though and think maybe just pushing it a word out would make all the difference:
Gallade, on the other hand, improves the Fighting and Poison matchups, as it slashes through Keldeo, Iron Valiant, Toxapex, and Galarian Weezing.

now this reads as "iron hands is good because of this. gallade, by contrast, is good because of this other thing." they stand separately from one another without contradicting each other.
