- Thousand Arrows / Scale Shot

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Zygarde-C's gargantuan bulk, effective boosting options, and great attacking moves make it a top-tier physical wall and sweeper.
  • Thousand Waves allows Zygarde to trap its foe, and given its limited list of checks and its ability to flip matchups with Terastalization, it can often use the target as setup fodder and easily get to +6 Attack and Speed and sweep through the opposing team by trapping otherwise decent checks like non-Taunt Arceus formes and Eternatus. In the event that Zygarde can't set up, it can still pivot to a teammate after trapping its foe.
  • Dragon Dance and Coil boost Zygarde's mediocre Attack into threatening levels. The former's Speed boost lets it avoid having to run Scale Shot, while the latter's Defense boost lets Zygarde have an easier time setting up on Attack-boosting foes such as Zacian-C and Arceus.
  • Thousand Arrows should be used with Dragon Dance, providing Zygarde the means to hit foes immune to Ground like Ho-Oh and Giratina-O. Scale Shot should be used with Coil, hitting the aforementioned foes while boosting Zygarde's Speed, with Coil reversing Scale Shot's Defense-lowering effect.
  • 80 HP EVs let Zygarde always survive defensive Arceus-Water's Ice Beam, letting it safely activate Power Construct against it, while 204 Attack EVs and an Adamant nature let Zygarde always OHKO defensive Ho-Oh at +6 Attack. The remaining EVs are dumped into Defense to make Zygarde as physically bulky as possible to help it take attacks from foes such as Ho-Oh and Primal Groudon. If Zygarde isn't running Thousand Arrows, a spread of 248 HP / 48 Def / 80 SpD / 132 Spe with a Careful nature let Zygarde-50% never be 2HKOed by Mega Mewtwo Y's Psystrike and OHKOed by Life Orb Deoxys-A's Psycho Boost after Stealth Rock while letting Zygarde-C always outspeed Choice Scarf Yveltal at +2.
  • Terastalization is extremely potent on Zygarde, letting it set up on foes it otherwise couldn't by replacing its exploitable weaknesses to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy. Tera Water notably gives Zygarde a resistance to Water and Ice, letting it set up on Primal Kyogre and non-Taunt Arceus-Water. Tera Poison turns Zygarde's Fairy weakness into a resistance, letting it set up on Zacian-C.
  • A large part of Zygarde's effectiveness is a result of its surprise factor, luring in checks such as non-Taunt Arceus formes and turning them into setup fodder. Zygarde is often reliant on Terastalization to accomplish this, so players should carefully consider the need to terastalize their other Pokemon if they wish to preserve Zygarde's sweeping potential.
  • Players should typically try getting Zygarde to below 50% HP to activate Power Construct. This can be achieved by letting a trapped foe weaken Zygarde, or by letting it get worn down by residual damage and stray hits. However, Zygarde's HP should be carefully managed given that Rest only has 8 PP and leaves Zygarde passive.
  • Entry hazard setters such as Primal Groudon, utility Arceus formes, and Eternatus can weaken the opposing team, letting Zygarde-C OHKO foes such as defensive Arceus formes with Thousand Waves.
  • Wallbreakers such as Primal Kyogre and Necrozma-DM can soften up foes such as opposing Zygarde and Arceus formes, letting it sweep more easily.

Add a bullet point regarding Zygarde's general positive traits and its role, you can simply go over it being a potent sweeper that can abuse passive foes.
  • Thousand Waves allows Zygarde to trap its foe, and given Zygarde's limited list of checks and its ability to flip matchups with Terastalization, it can often use the target as setup fodder and easily get to +6 Attack and Speed and sweep through the opposing team. In the event that Zygarde can't set up, it can still pivot to a teammate after trapping its foe.
  • Dragon Dance and Coil both boost Zygarde's mediocre Attack into threatening levels. The former's Speed boost lets it avoid having to run Scale Shot, while the latter's Defense boost lets Zygarde have an easier time setting up on Attack-boosting foes such as Zacian-C and Arceus.
  • Thousand Arrows should be used with Dragon Dance, providing Zygarde the means to hit foes immune to Ground like Ho-Oh and Griatina-O Giratina-O. Scale Shot should be used with Coil, hitting the aforementioned foes while boosting Zygarde's Speed, with Coil reversing Scale Shot's Defense-lowering effect.
  • The HP EVs Zygarde always survive defensive Arceus-Water's Ice Beam, letting it safely activate Power Construct. The Attack EVs let Zygarde OHKO defensive Ho-Oh at +6 Attack this pertains a specific sample spread over full investment. The remaining EVs are dumped into Defense to make Zygarde as physically bulky as possible.
  • Terastalization is extremely potent on Zygarde, letting it set up on foes it otherwise couldn't by replacing its exploitable weaknesses to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy. Tera Water notably gives Zygarde a resistance to Water and Ice, letting it set up on Primal Kyogre and Arceus-Water. Tera Poison turns Zygarde's Fairy weakness into a resistance, letting it set up on Fairy-types like Xerneas and Zacian-C.
  • A large part of Zygarde's effectiveness is a result of its surprise factor, luring in checks such as non-Taunt Arceus formes and turning them into setup fodder. Zygarde is often reliant on Terastalization to accomplish this, so players should avoid Terastalizing their other Pokemon.

  • Zygarde-C's gargantuan bulk, effective boosting options, and great attacking options make it a top-tier physical wall and sweep.
  • Thousand Waves allows Zygarde to trap its foe, and given its limited list of checks and its ability to flip matchups with Terastalization, it can often use the target as setup fodder and easily get to +6 Attack and Speed and sweep through the opposing team trap foes like what? i think in this case especially you need to be very specific with what it lures in and traps, its honestly not obvious for newer players and this can be a complicated set to use without proper acknowledgment for how it plays. In the event that Zygarde can't set up, it can still pivot to a teammate after trapping its foe. i think this last sentence is a bit fluff? like its obvious it can still switch, i dont think its really relevant here either, all trappers can do that
  • Dragon Dance and Coil both boost Zygarde's mediocre Attack into threatening levels. The former's Speed boost lets it avoid having to run Scale Shot, while the latter's Defense boost lets Zygarde have an easier time setting up on Attack-boosting foes such as Zacian-C and Arceus.

The remaining EVs are dumped into Defense to make Zygarde as physically bulky as possible can explain what this is for, any specific mons it needs to check with the def etc.
Tera Poison turns Zygarde's Fairy weakness into a resistance, letting it set up on Fairy-types like Zacian-C you only mention one mon, and realistically there are only 3 relevant fairys in the tier and you only set up on 2 of them (flutter and zac) with this, so either mention flutter or nuke that.
  • A large part of Zygarde's effectiveness is a result of its surprise factor, luring in usual checks such as non-Taunt Arceus formes and turning them into setup fodder. Zygarde is often reliant on Terastalization to accomplish this, so players should avoid Terastalizing their other Pokemon as i mentioned in the bob check, saying “you shouldnt tera this” or “you should tera that” is far too blunt and not advice you want to give to newer players, you should be saying something along the lines of “to save tera for zyg if it has the potential to sweep as its incredibly reliant on it”, or “be more mindful with your tera use if you intend to sweep with zyg effectively”.
  • can maybe mention ways to cripple or kill or weaken checks to this set, like idk goth, tspikes etern or whatnot

  • Zygarde-C's gargantuan bulk, effective boosting options, and great attacking moves make it a top-tier physical wall and sweeper.
  • Thousand Waves allows Zygarde to trap its foe, and given its limited list of checks and its ability to flip matchups with Terastalization Terastallization, it can often use the target as setup fodder and easily get to +6 Attack and Speed and (implied well enough by the term "setup fodder", removing this makes the sentence read far better) sweep through the opposing team by trapping otherwise decent checks,(AC) like non-Taunt Arceus formes and Eternatus. In the event that Zygarde can't set up, it can still pivot to a teammate after trapping its foe.
  • Dragon Dance and Coil boost Zygarde's mediocre Attack into to threatening levels. The former's Speed boost lets it avoid having to run Scale Shot, while the latter's Defense boost lets gives Zygarde have an easier time setting up on Attack-boosting foes,(AC) such as Zacian-C and Arceus.

Scale Shot should be used with Coil, hitting the aforementioned foes while boosting Zygarde's Speed, with Coil reversing Scale Shot's Defense-lowering effect.

The remaining EVs are dumped into Defense to make Zygarde as physically bulky as possible,(AC) to help helping it take attacks from foes such as Ho-Oh and Primal Groudon. If Zygarde isn't running Thousand Arrows, a spread of 248 HP / 48 Def / 80 SpD / 132 Spe with a Careful nature let lets Zygarde-50% never be 2HKOed by avoid a 2HKO from Mega Mewtwo Y's Psystrike and OHKOed by an OHKO from Life Orb Deoxys-A's Psycho Boost after Stealth Rock while letting Zygarde-C always outspeed Choice Scarf Yveltal at +2.
  • Terastalization Terastallization is extremely potent on Zygarde, letting it set up on foes it otherwise couldn't by replacing its exploitable weaknesses to Ice, Dragon, and Fairy. Tera Water notably gives Zygarde a resistance to Water and Ice, letting it set up on Primal Kyogre and non-Taunt Arceus-Water. Tera Poison turns Zygarde's Fairy weakness into a resistance, letting it set up on Zacian-C.
  • A large part of this Zygarde's effectiveness (I get the sense that not every set relies on surprise to this extent so it's good to specify) is a result of its surprise factor, luring in checks such as non-Taunt Arceus formes and turning them into setup fodder. Zygarde is often reliant on Terastalization Terastallization to accomplish this, so players should carefully consider the need to terastalize Terastallize their other Pokemon if they wish to preserve Zygarde's sweeping potential.

This can be achieved by letting a trapped foe weaken Zygarde, or by letting it get worn down by residual damage and stray hits. However, Zygarde's HP should be carefully managed,(AC) given that Rest only has 8 PP and leaves renders Zygarde passive during its sleep turns.
