VGC Garganacl

:sv/Garganacl:
[OVERVIEW]
* Garganacl is a powerful IronPress sweeper with its great bulk and Terastallization options; Iron Defense turns Body Press into a weapon and makes it incredibly difficult to take down. Salt Cure is an amazing complement to IronPress, as it can wear down Pokemon immune or resistant to Body Press like Annihilape, Ceruledge, and Pelipper.

* Garganacl dislikes Haze and Clear Smog users like Murkrow and Amoonguss, which can reset its Defense boosts. Armarouge checks Amoonguss and can set Trick Room for Garganacl. Murkrow is easily taken advantage of by Sylveon. Powerful special attackers like Armarouge, Hydreigon, and Sylveon can overpower Garganacl with some help, especially if it's the last Pokemon standing; this situation will often happen, since Garganacl is slow to set up and gives the opponent freedom in beating down teammates.

* A moveset of Body Press, Wide Guard, Salt Cure, and Recover with Rocky Helmet does very well against Lycanroc + Tyranitar teams. Wide Guard prevents Lycanroc and Tyranitar from repeatedly using Rock Slide with impunity, and Rocky Helmet can break Lycanroc's Focus Sash, leaving it likely KOed by Body Press. Wide Guard can also be helpful against Trick Room teams, as it blocks Torkoal's Eruption and Armarouge's spread Expanding Force.

[SET COMMENTS]

* Purifying Salt protects Garganacl from status moves like Amoonguss's Spore and Rotom-W's Will-O-Wisp.

* The EV spread slightly optimizes Special Defense and helps Garganacl against special attackers like Armarouge and Hydreigon. Garganacl isn't outspeeding much of anything, so it might as well aim to underspeed opposing Trick Room Pokemon; minimum Speed lets Garganacl Speed tie Mudsdale while easily underspeeding Kingambit and Hariyama.

* Tera Ghost gives Garganacl an immunity to Fighting and leaves it with effectively just one weakness, since Purifying Salt halves the power of Ghost-type attacks. Tera Grass prevents Amoonguss from redirecting Garganacl's Body Press via Rage Powder, and its Water and Electric resistances are helpful against Rotom-W. Tera Steel gives Garganacl a plethora of resistances like Dragon, Grass, Fairy, and Steel, which are helpful against Pokemon like Hydreigon, Meowscarada, Gholdengo, and Sylveon, and it makes Garganacl immune to Amoonguss's Clear Smog.

[OVERVIEW]

* Garganacl is a powerful IronPress sweeper (is it really setting up enough to sweep games? Special attackers comfortably KO it with some help and can also pick on its teammates, as you mention later. It would be better to ideally use a more subtle adjective to describe this IronPresser.) in Series One with its great bulk and access to Terastallization; Garganacl it (technically GP territory but you just mentioned Garganacl not long ago.) can quickly set up, turn Body Press into a weapon, and be incredibly difficult to take down. Salt Cure is an amazing complement to IronPress as it can wear down Pokemon immune or resistant to Body Press like Annihilape, Gholdengo, and Pelipper. (not sure Gholdengo should really be mentioned here — you need to utilize your Terastallization to be able to keep up with its damage output while spamming Recover. up to you if you want to keep this in though.) Garganacl is a good check to Dondozo as it will gets the opportunity to Terastallize and maximize its defense while Dondozo is trapped by Tatsugiri's Commander. (not sure how valid this is, Dondozo has great Defense, can stay in and chip Garganacl (forcing it to Recover) and has Unaware. Even without Unaware being a factor, Garg doesn't do great damage to +2 Dozo. You may need to rework this section.)

* Garganacl dislikes Haze and Clear Smog users like Murkrow and Amoonguss that can reset its Defense boosts. Armarouge checks Amoonguss and can set Trick Room for Garganacl. Murkrow is easily taken advantage of by Sylveon. Powerful special attackers like Armarouge, Hydreigon, and Sylveon can overpower Garganacl with some help and especially if it's the last Pokemon standing, which will often happen since Garganacl is slow to set up and gives the opponent freedom in beating down teammates.

* Purifying Salt protects Garganacl from status moves like Amoonguss's Spore or Arcanine's Will-O-Wisp. (how relevant is Arcanine? Sableye is picking up so that should be a good mention. Rotom-W also works.)

* The EV spread hits a jump point in SpD. Garganacl isn't outspeeding much of anything so it might as well aim to underspeed opposing Trick Room Pokemon; minimum Speed lets Garganacl speed tie Mudsdale while being more than slow enough for Kingambit and Hariyama. (the highlighted Pokemon aren't very relevant. This section needs to be reworded as a result.)

* Tera Ghost gives Garganacl an immunity to Fighting-type moves and leaves it with effectively just one weakness due to Purifying Salt halving the power of Ghost-type attacks. Tera Grass prevents Amoonguss from redirecting Garganacl's Body Press via Rage Powder and it gives Garganacl a Water and Electric resistance that's helpful against Rotom-W. Tera Steel gives Garganacl a plethora of resistances like Dragon, Grass, Fairy, and Psychic that're that are (let's keep it formal) helpful against Pokemon like Hydreigon, Meowscarada, Hatterene (not very relevant in the metagame and doesn't threaten Garganacl much at all since it can Salt Cure and spam Recover), and Sylveon, and grants Garganacl an immunity to Amoonguss's Clear Smog.

Good work on this overall, it's only lacking at least a mention of an alternative set with Wide Guard Body Press Salt Cure + filler, this set is very good into Trick Room and Lycanroc TTar things. Let me know when all this is implemented and I will give a look.

Mostly implemented, I kept the term sweeper because that's what it is and it can often sweep while yes it can often fail to sweep, I don't think calling it a sweeper is inaccurate. I also kept the EV area the way it's because 1: there're hardly any benefits to running a non-minimum Speed Garganacl so you might as well speed tie something that's relevant even if it isn't very (Mudsdale) and 2: Hariyama is the same speed as Kingambit anyways. If you think there's a better way of going about that area, tell me exactly how?
