✰ Lickilicky Bros ✰
✰
✰
Hey guys, Sobi here with another PU team, built around Lickilicky. The reason as to why I'm using it is because I'm doing an analysis for it, and I wanted to see what kind of team I could make using it. I gotta say, the team ended up quite well, getting me 12 wins and only 4 losses. The team is far from perfect though, and I'd love some advice. Before I go onto the team itself though, let me run down the teambuilding process.
✰ Teambuilding Process ✰
: Lickilicky is a great bulky mon in general, and it can set up quite easily thanks to this bulk. It's also got a range of coverage options and this makes it a good wallbreaker.
: Ninjask struggles with leaving huge dents in teams, but it performs well as a late-game cleaner, so it works well with Lickilicky; Lickilicky can wallbreak, and Ninjask can just sweep through in the late-game.
: With Ninjask weak to Stealth Rock, hazard removal was crucial. There was a handful of Pokemon to choose from but Swanna fit the bill because it could take care of Fighting-types that Lickilicky had trouble with.
: Grumpig also takes care of Fighting-types and is my main attacker that can deal quite a bit of damage.
: Like Ninjask, Pawniard is also my late-game cleaner.
: The team was weak to Earthquake and Stone Edge spam, so Solrock was there as a Rock resist. It also gave me a Stealth Rock setter, which is very useful.

Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance

- Return

- Knock Off

- Power Whip

Lickilicky is the Pokemon this team is built around, and I have to say, it's been a really great mon. It can tank most hits quite well, and once you set up, it's a monster to get rid of. All you need to do with Lickilicky is spam Return and Knock Off until you win the game. Lum Berry is there so that Lickilicky gets a free set up chance; Gourgeist-XL, Misdreavus and Dusknoir are most likely going to be burning it, so once you predict this, set up, and let Lum Berry activate. Return has great neutral coverage and is a spammable move that can literally be used to work your way through teams. Knock Off hits what Return cannot; Ghost-types. They may think that they can simply wall Lickilicky, but once they get hit by Knock Off, especially after a Swords Dance, it's pretty much game over. It also helps against Misdreavus and other Eviolite users because without a boost, it's difficult to damage them, so removing it makes it much easier to OHKO them. Power Whip hits Golem because it doesn't take much from Return and Knock Off; Earthquake used to be in this last slot, and it hit Monferno, Pawniard and Probopass so it's pretty much up to you what you want to use. The EV spread makes Lickilicky very bulky, and Adamant nature gives it as much firepower as possible.

Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-turn

- Aerial Ace

- X-Scissor

- Swords Dance

Ninjask is one of the most versatile Pokemon I have ever used. There are so many sets you can use, and you can either take advantage of Speed Boost or Infiltrator and run different items, different moves, different spreads, different natures; there's no limit to what you can use, and this is why I chose it. Insect Plate is chosen over Choice Band because while the extra damage is definitely appreciated, I don't like getting locked into one move, and switching moves is generally better because Ninjask's matchup can instantly change; one minute it could be against Grumpig, then it's against Machoke, so having that freedom to choose different moves is much better. U-turn and X-Scissor are both STAB moves, the former allowing Ninjask to pivot out of unpleasant situations, and the latter being the primary STAB move and doing a lot of damage, especially when equipped with Insect Plate. Aerial Ace is another STAB move and does reasonable damage and Swords Dance turns Ninjask into an effective wincon for my team.

Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 29 HP / 0 Atk
- Hurricane

- Scald

- Defog

- Roost

I needed a Pokemon that not only removed entry hazards, but also had some sort of offensive presence and could support the first two members of the team. Swanna had Defog, Scald & Hurricane which, when being used alongside a Life Orb, did a great deal of damage, and could take care of Fire-types and Fighting-types that Ninjask and Lickilicky had trouble facing. Hurricane, whilst unreliable at the worst times possible, is Swanna's main STAB move, doing ~50% to anything that doesn't resist it, and taking out Pokemon that are damaged super-effectively by it. Scald is another STAB move which does a reasonable amount of damage; the chance to burn is extremely helpful, especially if against a physical attacker like Stoutland since Lickilicky doesn't like battling them. Defog removes entry hazards and Roost is there for recovery and gives Swanna another chance to do some damage in its time on the field.

Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 82 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic

- Focus Blast

- Taunt

- Shadow Ball

Grumpig is a nice Pokemon in general; bulky, fast and powerful. It's a Pokemon I use in most of my teams, and there's no surprise as to why I do. Its ability allows it to switch into Fire- and Ice-type attacks aimed at Ninjask, and tank them quite well. Colbur Berry is used to prevent Knock Off spam from Dark-types, and to also allow Grumpig to get a Focus Blast at them, most likely taking 'em out. Psychic is Grumpig's main STAB move, and does a great deal of damage. Focus Blast hits Dark-types such as Pawniard and the not so common Mightyena. Taunt breaks down stall, and prevents the foe from setting up or inflicting any type of status on Grumpig. Finally, Shadow Ball hits other Psychic-types, you can also use Signal Beam which does the same job but is sightly weaker.

Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off

- Sucker Punch

- Iron Head

- Swords Dance

Pawniard is my secondary late-game sweeper and wincon. It takes care of the Ghost-types that trouble Grumpig and offers Steel-type coverage in the form of Iron Head which deals a good amount of damage and has the hax-y chance to flinch as well. Knock Off removes opposing Eviolite's / Choice items / Berries / other items which is very useful in the long run, and Sucker Punch is used to pick off at weakened foes. Iron Head is secondary STAB and Swords Dance is used to turn Pawniard into a wincon so that it can sweep late-game. The best way to use Pawniard is to spam Knock Off because there aren't that many Pokemon that resist it so it can just keep using it until it rips through the team. It's best to use Swords Dance if you predict a switch or if you think the attack the foe will use isn't going to do much!

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock

- Morning Sun

- Will-O-Wisp

- Rock Slide

Solrock is my wall, lead, and Stealth Rock setter. This spot was originally occupied by other Pokemon that I forgot, but my team was kinda weak to Ground and Rock spam archetypes, so I decided to go for Solrock because it gave me an immunity and resist to them respectively, but also gave me a Stealth Rock setter which was really useful for my Pokemon to get the OHKO on Pokemon they couldn't get it on beforehand. Stealth Rock is self-explanatory, Morning Sun is for recovery, Will-O-Wisp to cripple physical attackers, and Rock Slide for coverage against Fire- and Flying-types, but also against other Pokemon that don't resist it. Thanks to its bulk, Solrock can take hits really well and then use WoW to really annoy the opponent and also recover to stall it out, infuriating them even more. The only problem I've really faced is lack of another coverage move if the opponent resists Rock Slide, but I can work around that.
✰ Threats ✰
: Lapras's RestTalk set is really annoying to face, especially if my Pokemon are burnt.
: Pawniard and Ninjask hate getting paralysed because that reduces their effectiveness in the late-game.
: Really bulky mon, hard to break through. My attackers don't like getting burnt.
✰ Conclusion ✰
I just wanna say thank you very much for reading my RMT, I hope you enjoyed it and I also hope that you have some suggestions and ways to improve the team. I've just got one request: please don't remove Lickilicky! I built the team around it so removing it will greatly affect the team's synergy. Oh and here is a replay of the team andhere is the import here is the new import with Dundies's changes, here is the import with Anty's changes. Thanks for reading and bye!
