    Unpopular opinions

Chesnaught could set Spikes and Leech Seed, which in tandem could drain weakened/Poisoned mons or force them to switch around and play into the Hazards even more. Avalugg by that token is the most generic by just being "fat thing that tries to not die while Poison chips"

Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion v4

Secret Tech is to hide the Throat Spray and run Mixed. Bait Gliscor to absorb a Knock Off, then Psychic Noise to Boost and Shut Off Poison Heal all in one turn. Also now imagining absolute stupid gimmick ideas with Throat Spray/PN + Knock Off + Trick. Just shuffle opponents items until they're...

    Pokémon GO

Generally they're good for actual PvP but they're overkill for Rocket Grunts. General approach there is to use something like Kartana or Mud Slap Excadrill/Rhyperior depending on the type match up, KO 2 mons with Fast moves, and one-shot the last with whatever Charge Move.

    Pokémon GO

Are you talking for Raids or PvP, since moves have different parameters and performance between the two modes.

(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

Or just have them available because Regionals for existing mons but don't make them encounters, like several games do with general Legendaries even after DLC is implemented (SV just did this with a lot of Legendaries and Mythicals even if we count Raids as non-Transfer-only).

(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

In "fairness" to Go, they seem to just kind of haphazardly rotate the Legendaries on Raids and the Swords are a good filler set since they're useful in PvE and PvP content without being top of their class for their main type (Fighting). Keldeo by itself wouldn't be egregious since this season is...

Little things you like about Pokémon

Similar vein, it feels odd considering Volcanion doesn't seem to have any particular mechanic beyond its basic form next to the other two. There's actually a surprising amount of Legendary representation considering Z-A's Dex size, which makes the fact it doesn't get anything special vs two...

(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

Okay this is just not getting what my point is (I don't assume strawmanning or bad faith, but this is not at all what my sentiment was). My point is NOT "this strategy is one you lose to more often therefore it is bad design" Knowing a gym's type is not the same category or level of inference...

(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

Calling Evasion strategies "standard," "Legitimate," or "difficult" even in an in-game context is asinine even facetiously. Any boss that implements these strategies, however (In)effectively is an admission by the game designers that they made this battle 10 minutes before clocking out for the...

Pokémon Presents - Pokémon Day 2025 - Pokemon ZA Info & Pokemon Champions Announced

This question to me also depends if we mean as a whole or specifically the game incarnations. In the various Manga there tends to be a sort of "top dog" among the Gym Leaders like Erika for Kanto, Winona for Hoenn, and I know in at least one DP manga that role for Sinnoh was Byron. Plus, his Dan...

Pokémon Day 7* Tera Raids (Paldea Starters and Pseudos)

Finding more and more that Dual Screen + Double Debuff Grimmsnarl is my preferred support. Dragapult does nothing besides damage and the attackers need to ramp up before they can self-sustain for "neutral stat" damage. My approach has been to throw 1 or both Screens (depending on what the other...

Pokémon Day 7* Tera Raids (Paldea Starters and Pseudos)

Not sure about Stellar honestly. The lack of same-Type Tera stack means you take forever to break the Shield, and Draining Kiss is hard pressed to do it in 16 PP since you can barely tank to fit Nasty Plot uses in. I'd stick to Fairy, since by the time you Tera you should be outdamaging Shadow...

SPOILERS! Legends ZA Data Dumps - Adding Info to OP

The info about Z Mega Evolution posted for Lucario Z sounds like the main distinction is playing with a shorter duration and shorter move cast times/cooldowns, so I don't expect they're going to be THAT distinct from the original Megas that they change typing. I'd be curious what changes if...

“That One Pokémon You Just Have Beef With”

I am of the opinion they allow all 3 evolutions to become Hydrapple as a 3rd stage, but with mild movepool variations based on the 2nd stage it evolved from (stat and abilities could be neat but that's assuming forms are on the table ala Lycanroc or OT Rockruff). Like, Hydrapple in Singles gets...

    Pokémon Movepool Oddities & Explanations

(I wrote this post Friday but it failed to post due to an internet outage. Pardon any retreaded talk like Starter distribution) Focus Blast has always felt like the most "for gameplay" move of the prominent lot to me, given how long it spent as a TM exclusive and remains a near-exclusive move...

Pokémon Day 7* Tera Raids (Paldea Starters and Pseudos)

If Skill Swap proves necessary, you could forgo Competitive for Frisk to pass it to Dragapult for Intimidate AI maybe. Another thing depending on coverage/move type is Tinkaton's Mold Breaker can allow it to debuff with Skitter Smack through Shield and Clear Body. Immunity to Dragon while...

    Pokémon Legends: Z-A General Discussion

Honestly I think the even simpler solution available was to make the debt something less liquid in-game. Like what if instead of Taunie/Urbain directly borrowing 100k (I'm not clear how that theoretically plays into them trying to improve their Phone-Reel ads), their antics interfered with Rust...

Pokémon Day 7* Tera Raids (Paldea Starters and Pseudos)

Annihilape also works well online as long as your lobby isn't quick-dying teammates. It's self-sufficient and survivable, so the main concern is they don't eat the Clock. I'm running RF/Focus Energy/Screech, not sure if there's a better 4th move option available.

    Pokémon GO

I'm on level 73, my hardest task is finding Max Moves I want to upgrade, even if willing to burn the Particles. The others happen without much hassle. I just swapped to an excited 1 KM buddy like Magikarp once the Candy Task was the only one I had left to do. Level 73 has a task to walk 200km...
