    Posting here ‘cuz ik u like SAO and I want someone who I can talk to abt it. Im rewatching it atm (got to the end of Phantom Bullet like 2 days ago) and tbh ppl blow how bad it is out of proportion. The writing is pretty bad/irredeemable in places, but the concepts it puts forward are interesting, it’s well directed wrt storyboards and episode construction, its OST is great, and it’s entertaining as hell.

    I don't even know why you know that I like SAO, but glad to see that someone liked it too! I personally liked it because of the OPs at first, but the unique plot of it at that time is another thing which caught my interest! Thanks a lot!

    U posted abt it in the anime thread a while back, which is why I remembered.

    Anyway, I finished SAO II like 2 days ago. The OPs aside from Mother’s Rosario r bad imo aside from the music, with the exception of a few nice shots such as the the time-lapse of the hands reaching up into the sky and then recoiling at the <DANGER> warnings filling the sky in the first OP of S1. My thoughts on each arc:

    Key: SS = side story

    Good: Mother’s Rosario (SS)
    Critically bad but still enjoyable: Aincrad, Phantom Bullet
    Critically bad+not that enjoyable: Fairy Dance
    Irredeemable: Caliber (SS)

    Anyway yea the hook of the Aincrad arc is great even if the show loses sight of it especially later on in the arc and then abandons it completely in following arcs. I also loved the whole premise of Mother’s Rosario and think that is the type of concept the show should’ve focussed on after Aincrad rather than whatever the fuck Fairy Dance was.
