Dragapult is a solid utility Pokemon thanks to its blistering Speed, strong offensive and defensive typing, and excellent support movepool. Will-O-Wisp cripples physical attackers looking to switch in, like Zacian, Arceus-Poison, and Palafin. Hex capitalizes on Dragapult's status spreading, as well as doing huge damage to sleeping Giratina. Thunder Wave can cripple common switch-ins and setup sweepers, like Dragon Dance Arceus formes and Baxcalibur, as well as the aforementioned Zacian. Substitute allows Dragapult to block Thunder Wave and Will-O-Wisp from Arceus formes and Giratina, and it also capitalizes on its resistances to U-turn and Volt Switch. U-turn allows Dragapult to pivot out on Pokemon like Zacian and Arceus-Dark and bring a threatening teammate in, like Zamazenta-C or Zacian. Tera Fairy flips Dragapult's Dragon-type weakness on its head, making it immune to Dragon-type moves from Palkia-O, Arceus-Dragon, and Dialga; Tera Fairy also lets it resist Dark-type moves from Urshifu-S and Kingambit. Dragapult enables Pokemon like Zacian and Dragon Dance Arceus formes through its endless status spreading, so they partner fantastically with it. Dragapult struggles to break through walls and is particularly annoyed by Garganacl and Gholdengo, as both are immune to its status moves, meaning it appreciates Ground-type partners like Landorus, Chi-Yu, Kyurem-W, and Bulk Up Great Tusk, which can wallbreak for Dragapult and capitalize on the weakened opposing team.
