Overview

Silvally-Fairy is a very versatile threat in PU thanks to a myriad of factors. Solid base stats across the board and a wide movepool allow it to be easily constructed to fit a specific team's needs. With access to Defog, Parting Shot, and Thunder Wave, it can be a great support Pokemon, while access to Swords Dance and super effective coverage to hit common Fairy-type checks such as Togedemaru and Charizard let it be a great offensive Pokemon. A pure Fairy typing means it's great for checking and setting up on Dark- and Fighting-types such as Absol and Hitmonlee. Silvally-Fairy's biggest flaw is its lack of any form of recovery. It is also susceptible to all entry hazards and status afflictions, making it easy to wear down and unable to check what it needs to consistently. Finally, it cannot fit all of what it wants on one set, limiting its options.

Parting Shot allows Silvally-Fairy to pivot out on would-be threats such as Togedemaru and Aggron. If Defog is unneeded, then Silvally-Fairy can run a status move of its choice to cripple an opposing Pokemon. Despite the Jolly nature, Flamethrower is chosen to target Steel-types, hitting them harder than Fire Fang. The Speed investment allows Silvally-Fairy to outspeed Timid Magmortar in addition to slower Pokemon like Absol and Shiftry, and the rest is invested into physical bulk. Notably, it is only 3HKOed by Muscle Band Gallade's Psycho Cut. Silvally-Fairy pairs best with Steel-types, building a solid defensive core with them. Togedemaru is a great option, as it can sponge Poison- and Steel-type attacks while healing Silvally-Fairy with Wish, and in return, Silvally-Fairy can tank Fighting-type attacks for it. Psychic- and Dark-type attackers such as Mesprit and Sneasel heavily appreciate Silvally-Fairy due to the absence of Dark- and Fighting-type checks in PU as well as the Parting Shot support it provides, making it easier for them set up without fear of being punished.

A strong STAB move, great coverage, and two boosting moves let Silvally-Fairy tear through teams. Flame Charge is not only useful for hitting Steel-types, but it lets Silvally-Fairy boost its Speed, making it harder to revenge kill by Choice Scarf users such as Mesprit and Rotom. Rock Slide allows it to OHKO Charizard, while Psychic Fangs is a niche alternative that can take out a weakened Weezing. U-turn is also an option if Silvally-Fairy finds itself in a bad situation; however, this means forgoing important coverage. Swords Dance Silvally-Fairy can be used as both a sweeper and a wallbreaker, but it struggles to break past bulky physically defensive Pokemon such as Regirock and Aggron. Wallbreakers such as Shiftry and Basculin take advantage of these due to their super effective STAB moves while also weakening Fire- and Poison-types, making them solid partners for Silvally-Fairy. Cleaners such as Sneasel and Dragon Dance Charizard also appreciate walls such as Regirock and Palossand being weakened by Silvally-Fairy so they can efficiently sweep.
