Set Description
Swords Dance Rillaboom is a vicious wallbreaker thanks to its good coverage and access to a strong priority move in Grassy Glide. Grassy Glide is capable of immediate monstrous damage with a boost from both Grassy Terrain and Life Orb, OHKOing Urshifu-R and Choice Band Tyranitar while putting immense pressure on Pokemon like Tapu Fini and Slowbro. Knock Off allows Rillaboom to punish Flying-type Pokemon like Corviknight, Zapdos, and Tornadus-T that may want to switch on it by removing their items, exposing the latter two's Stealth Rock weakness while hindering the defensive utility of the former by either harming its longevity or removing its ability to punish contact moves. Superpower nails Steel-types like Melmetal, Heatran, and Ferrothorn that may feel comfortable coming in on Grassy Glide, OHKOing them at +2, while also being an excellent form of neutral coverage to hit foes like Corviknight and Galarian Moltres. Adamant is mainly used for the general power boost; however, a Jolly nature lets Rillaboom outspeed the likes of Urshifu-R and Tapu Lele without Speed-boosting natures. Life Orb gives Rillaboom an extra boost in power, guaranteeing an OHKO on Garchomp and Landorus-T with +2 Grassy Glide and a 2HKO on Skarmory with +2 Superpower.
Team Options
Swords Dance Rillaboom fits best on offense teams to help overwhelm common defensive Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Melmetal, and Heatran. Other offensive Pokemon such as Weavile and Zeraora threaten Flying-types like Zapdos and Tornadus-T that check Rillaboom. In return, Rillaboom can assist in overwhelming common shared checks like defensive Heatran and Melmetal. Additionally, Weavile heavily appreciates Rillaboom threatening bulky Water-types like Toxapex and Tapu Fini, making its cleaning ability much stronger late-game. Heatran, Volcanion, and Urshifu-R lure in Water-types like Slowbro, Gastrodon, and Tapu Fini, giving Rillaboom the chance to switch in and force them out. In return, these Pokemon can overwhelm Steel-types like Corviknight, Melmetal, and Heatran, which would otherwise discourage using Grassy Glide. Entry hazard setters like Landorus-T, Heatran, and Garchomp can provide chip damage and wear down common checks to Rillaboom such as Zapdos, Tornadus-T, Buzzwole, and Dragonite. Additionally, these Pokemon all boast access to other useful utility moves like Toxic and Knock Off, further wearing down the aforementioned Pokemon. Heatran in particular synergizes amazingly with Rillaboom, heavily appreciating Rillaboom's Grassy Terrain reducing the power of Earthquake and providing additional longevity while being able to threaten common checks to Rillaboom like Corviknight, Skarmory, and Buzzwole. Magnezone is another solid offensive partner, removing Steel-types like Corviknight, Skarmory, and Ferrothorn that would otherwise check Rillaboom.

Set Description
When equipped with a Choice Band, Rillaboom becomes an incredibly fearsome revenge killer, making use of a boosted Grassy Glide to dispatch the likes of Weavile, Barraskewda, and Zeraora while Grassy Terrain is up, as well as having fierce wallbreaking potential and providing crucial pivoting support. Wood Hammer takes Rillaboom's wallbreaking power to unsettling highs, thrashing neutral targets like Toxapex and Clefable and even 2HKOing frailer Grass-resistant Pokemon like Galarian Slowking and opposing Rillaboom. Wood Hammer can also be substituted out for Superpower, which allows Rillaboom to whack the likes of Ferrothorn, Melmetal, and Heatran, most notably OHKOing specially defensive variants of the last. Knock Off is a strong coverage move that lets Rillaboom remove Heavy-Duty Boots from checks like Zapdos, Tornadus-T, and Buzzwole, making them vulnerable to entry hazards; remove Rocky Helmet from the likes of Corviknight and Skarmory, allowing Rillaboom to pivot on them unpunished later on; and hit Pokemon that resist both Grass and Fighting like Galarian Slowking, Dragapult, and Aegislash super effectively, often for an OHKO. U-turn allows Rillaboom to generate momentum and pivot in frailer teammates.
Team Options
This set fits the best on offense and bulky offense teams, being able to work in tandem with other wallbreakers and cleaners as well as provide revenge killing support for defensive cores. Heatran has great synergy with Rillaboom, as it is one of the best Stealth Rock setters in the metagame that can pressure Defoggers like Tornadus-T, Zapdos, and Corviknight, which are also some of the best checks to Rillaboom. This is aided by Rillaboom's ability to remove Leftovers from Corviknight and Heavy-Duty Boots from Tornadus-T and Zapdos with Knock Off so that Heatran's Stealth Rock can wear them down. Additionally, Heatran appreciates Grassy Terrain weakening opposing Earthquake and giving it additional passive recovery, especially when running Protect. Frail wallbreakers such as Swords Dance Weavile and Choice Specs Dragapult appreciate Rillaboom's ability to force switches and use U-turn to pivot them in safely; in return, Weavile can work together with Rillaboom to wear down shared checks like Buzzwole, Ferrothorn, and Skarmory, while Dragapult can threaten the aforementioned Pokemon with its powerful special attacks. Fire-types like Victini and Blaziken can threaten all of Buzzwole, Skarmory, and Corviknight for Kartana, while Tapu Lele can threaten the first and draw in and chip down the last two. Magnezone makes for a good offensive partner because it can forcefully remove the likes of Corviknight, Ferrothorn, and Skarmory. Kartana appreciates Grassy Terrain boosting its Leaf Blade and can work in tandem with Rillaboom to chip away at shared checks like Corviknight and Tornadus-T.
