Gracias a su excelente Speed, alto Special Attack y habilidad Solar Power con apoyo de sun, Charizard es un excelente wallbreaker y usuario de Choice Scarf. Es capaz de superar amenazas grandes como Choice Scarf Excadrill, Choice Scarf Indeedee y Dragapult, e incluso amenazarlos con sus poderosos ataques. Solar Power le brinda un aumento de 1.5x en Special Attack bajo los efectos de sun que lo convierte en un wallbreaker muy fuerte capaz de hacer sweep a equipos enteros como Psychic y Fairy, y le permite hacer OHKO a amenazas como Dragapult y Dracovish con Dragon Pulse tras Stealth Rock. Flamethrower se emplea en situaciones donde no es deseable fallar un movimiento contra Choice Scarf Excadrill, el cual puede hacer sweep al equipo Fire fácilmente sin Charizard que le haga revenge kill. Fire Blast es la opción más poderosa, adecuada para cuando necesita ocasionar el mayor daño posible contra el enemigo. Dragon Pulse golpea a los tipo Dragon enemigos como los antes mencionados Dracovish y Dragapult, y es excelente en el matchup tipo Dragon, ya que puede hacer clean en late-game. Focus Blast golpea a los Pokémon bulky que resisten el STAB tipo Fire como Tyranitar, Rhyperior y Thick Fat Snorlax. Charizard debe evitar entrar cuando hay Stealth Rock en el campo debido a su debilidad x4 y el daño por Solar Power se acumula muy rápido, por lo que sus compañeros deben encontrar oportunidades para eliminarlas de forma que tenga más libertad. Debido a lo fuertes que son sus ataques tipo Fire bajo sun, debe debilitar enormemente al equipo contrario pronto, de modo que sus compañeros puedan hacer clean up o ser guardados para un sweep en late-game. Este Pokémon es también un revenge killer fenomenal que puede lidiar con oponentes como Dracozolt y Hydreigon.

Torkoal es un compañero de equipo excelente porque pone el sun para Charizard con Drought, puede eliminar Stealth Rock con Rapid Spin y asimismo puede poner sus propias Stealth Rock para ir debilitando a Pokémon como Dragapult para mejorar el wallbreaking de Charizard. Cinderace también se deshace de las hazards si no están en ambos lados con Court Change y puede hacer pivot con U-turn para darle entrada segura a Charizard. Cinderace también tiene High Jump Kick para golpear a amenazas como Tyranitar y Snorlax. Ninetales es otro setter de sun que brinda apoyo a Charizard y que también puede ocasionar gran daño al equipo contrario con sus propios ataques tipo Fire potenciados. Rotom-H es otro buen compañero ya que amenaza a los tipo Water con sus ataques tipo Electric y brinda una segunda opción de inmunidad al tipo Ground para el equipo, excepto cuando usuarios con Mold Breaker como Excadrill están presentes. Arcanine es un wallbreaker físico fuerte con buena cobertura gracias a Wild Charge y Close Combat, así como Extreme Speed para eliminar a oponentes débiles o ponerlos al alcance de ser revenge killed por Charizard. Chandelure puede ser otro usuario de Choice Scarf para amenazar a Dragapult e inutilizar a Pokémon molestos como Toxapex y Appletun usando Trick. Salazzle puede usar su Toxic con Corrosion para esparcir veneno y debilitar a Pokémon como Toxapex contra los que Charizard no puede enfrentar.

Este Pokémon es un excelente revenge killer y late-game sweeper para los equipos Flying gracias a sus estadísticas ofensivas sólidas y movepool diverso. Tiene cobertura excelente con movimientos como Dragon Pulse y Focus Blast. El primero le permite golpear a los tipo Dragon, mientras que el segundo le permite enfrentar a los tipo Rock como Tyranitar. Choice Scarf sirve para superar a otros usuarios comunes como Galarian Darmanitan, Excadrill y Dracovish. Su parte tipo Fire le permite vencer a los equipos Steel y Ice, siendo una de las mejores opciones para enfrentar a oponentes como Corviknight y Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan.

Xatu es muy buen compañero ya que puede rebotar las Stealth Rock, lo que impide que Charizard sufra por daño residual mientras que también va debilitando al equipo contrario. Asimismo, hace que esos matchups sean extremadamente favorables cuando se juntan con Pokémon como Hawlucha. Además, puede hacer sweep a un equipo Dragon debilitado. Noivern puede brindar aún más apoyo en este matchup, siendo capaz de eliminar Stealth Rock con Defog. Charizard es complementado por Gyarados, el cual puede vencer a los tipos Water para este. Corviknight es un compañero excelente porque puede recibir ataques de tipo Rock mientras debilita a los Pokémon contrarios.
