Introduction
The Happy Place is a room on Pokémon Showdown that aims to provide a friendly environment for users to interact with one another. Our goal as a room is to promote positivity and empathy while also connecting you with users that are going through all walks of life. We find that interacting with users that have gone through similar experiences is a great way to unwind and make new friends!
History
The history of The Happy Place started around the prime Skype days with a few ambitious users coming together to create a room that could provide an open environment for people who just wanted to talk to someone. In the beginning, the community was small and still growing. It was a challenge for the Room Owners to develop an identity for THP that was different from other rooms. However, with time, they were able to succeed, and the room has grown exponentially since then. Currently, The Happy Place helps hundreds of users daily, whether it's to offer advice or to listen attentively.
Room Highlights and Philosophy!
The room's focus is to help users and to well… make people happy! A lot of our events do just that. We host frequent movie simulcasts where we watch a ton of movies like Coco and Zootopia! The Happy Place also hosts art and poetry contests as a way to challenge our users and to give back with various prizes available (like a nice shiny Ampharos!). We're always striving to innovate and create more events to engage with our community; For example, we're in the finishing stages of a podcast, and we're preparing lectures to help our users in discovering ways to cope with common problems they might deal with while promoting the importance of seeking professional help if needed.
One of our goals that we take pride in is ensuring that users can bring some of their problems here, knowing that there is someone that can relate or listen to what they're going through. Sharing experiences with one another is a very important aspect of our room and helps you connect with people that can give a perspective to a problem that you might not have been aware of. Our philosophy has always been that of a chill and open environment. To clear up some misconceptions, The Happy Place is not only about people venting! It's also a room where you can talk about anything on your mind. Casual conversation and debate are allowed here if we keep discussion mature, but we always encourage users to help as well if someone is feeling low. It's important to keep in mind the obvious that, at the end of the day, we are a room where a lot of people come to vent frustrations about loved ones or real-life situations. Please do not share sensitive information that you wouldn't otherwise share with anyone else, and only share what you're comfortable with sharing. This is a public room, and anyone can read what you've posted. That being said, once you spend enough time in The Happy Place, you'll grow to realize that it isn't always so tense and a lot of times you'll see people just messing around and enjoying themselves, chatting about anything that's going on in the day. The community are the biggest helpers and we wouldn't have such a peaceful and friendly environment without them. Meet the Room Owners!

I initially joined THP due to needing to sit in it at night when it wasn't staffed. After that, I became a regular due to wanting to talk to the other peeps in the room who frequented it. What I want out of THP is a place anyone would be comfortable talking in; I want THP to be a place of acceptance so that anyone and everyone can just chill in it. I expect THP in the future to host more events and be a room active with regs and staff who try to promote the room, so more people can be welcomed in.

THP was a community I was drawn into over the years through its friendly and encouraging environment. To me, the room is all about being a comfortable place for users to hang out and meet people. Users get to share their unique experiences in life, and an important part of our room is being supportive of each other. THP has taught me a lot through the years. I find it exciting to spend time in the room and let out what is on my mind. It always gives me the opportunity to engage in conversations that I find interesting as well. Heading into the future, I genuinely believe that THP will be an attractive room that many users will come to enjoy and be a part of. We are a room that continues to grow every year, and we are always on the lookout for ways we can improve and renew ourselves. As a community we will be moving forward towards inspiring events and a strong unity.

I joined THP because I fell in love with the community; everyone was so supportive and welcoming that it was easy to transition myself to the room. Becoming staff felt like second nature, and I quickly did my best to keep the room together and interact with the regs. My expectation for the room is just to continue to have THP be a place where anyone can join without feeling worried about what people will think. We're hosting so many future events that include regulars and I'm hoping to get to know many people during my time here. My goal is to make THP more organized and get more people involved with our current structure in the room.
