Sticky X/Y Sprite Project

Does anybody mind if I call Mega Banette? I plan on working on its sprite after I do Clawitzer now that I finally have a break from schoolwork. Currently looking forward to an action-packed day of pixels. +)

Okay. I was just confused, because I saw that you liked the post of the newest one, but was that to reserve reading it for later?
sparkledaisy, a sprite can't have more than 15 (+ transparency) colors in total, and that means that even differences so tiny they cannot be seen with the naked eye are considered 2 different colors.

In your last edit, there's 15 whites. Yeah, FIFTEEN SHADES OF WHITE. If you can't or don't know how to fix it in whatever program you're using, try using MS Paint if you've got Windows.

EDIT: Here's how the colors should be. I kept the most prominent shade of each color and replaced any close neighbor with it.

Looks similar, doesn't it? But it's really different from a computer's perspective. Check this out:

Left side's my QC after replacing all 10 colors of the palette above with 0000FF blue, and on the other side i did the same with your last edit. See all those pixels left? For a sprite, their only use is making the image heavier. Also, no sprite on the ds has that many colors (it'd need to support 128 colors at once on a sprite, which is absurd)
So, if you're gonna edit its legs or anything else again, PLEASE use my QC and a program that doesn't mess with the colors, use NOTHING but those 10

See this is why we check things.

Anyways this was rushed but right now I'd like a good frontsprite for everything.

Zarel has made his aim clear to get beta XY really really soon, fronts are most important, backsprites can just be front atm. Once things settle down again we can get to backs and fixing fronts proper.

Reserving MAlakazam if it isn't already. I'm going to post any progress about it here, and then a more recent post with the final version
Edit: Here's the basic outline

Editing those freaking spoons' gonna be hell
Those 2 new colors aren't set in stone, but i figured it was a better idea to not mix up the darker colors with the lighter ones until the finishing touches

Just finished my new version of goomy with both mine and legits sprites combined. Think it turned out awesome!

Lemme know if its good enough so I could make the back animated as well k? Till then, back to tyrantrum :)
I love it, the changes to the mouth make it a lot better. Since the backsprite doesn't have a mouth, I think that the most necessary change would be updating the basic/rare sequence to match the front (I think it loops four times now before going to rare?) There may also be other necessary things that I haven't noticed.

I'm sorry. I thought that I double checked for not any other whites, but I guess I may've forgotten after editing the legs.

Just some mild simplification of a great sprite.

I think I prefer this to the draft I showed you earlier Layell, though I'm not 100% sold on the highlight near the back leg. It's an awkward mon to highlight, honestly. I also changed the purple to a less saturated blue/purple, which I think matches its in-game colouration a little more closely. Let me know if you want more done with it.

it kinda varies depending on the pokemon but it prob should be at about 0.1 seconds per frame. Thats what I used at least.
Ok I will give it a try, thanks man.
EDIT: FLash only lets me go to 0.10 so I will try it with that.

According to a pokedex entry, Bergmites tend to group together on top of it, which'd make it be more iceberg-shaped. It'd be really cool if the animation involved a bunch of lil bergmites jumping on it and then getting thrown away

That seems really complex for an sprite animation? I can't imagine that'd be easily doable at all - that's likely a lot of frames - but maybe I underestimate the abilities of the spriters here ;w;

I wish I had seen this project sooner, I'd have helped out with some of the simpler Pokemon. I can probably do small edits - shiny recolours etc, so I'll see if I can still help out ^^

What FPS should the animations be at? I might use Adobe Flash.
The best I've been able to come up with is 7.5 frames per second, which is also 133.33 milliseconds per frame. 10 FPS seems a bit too fast.

Also, some frames may be longer or shorter, like for example on Garchomp there's a frame that lasts about 5 times as long as normal. You may want to look that stuff up on GIFs from this site if you're animating Mega formes so you can find out how to best match the original.

This is half past overdue, but here's a Carbink backsprite:

Subject to change based on the actual image ingame. I plunged high and low, but for the life of me could not find an image of this Pokemon's back, so I just improvised it. Also Layell, I looked at the Sprite Directory, you put in my Chesnaught backsprite before I fixed the leg...I would go for the updated one I made afterward, but you're prolly aware of this already. >_>

EDIT: Also wanna reserve Mega Manectric

Here's my finished Mega Banette, with a normal Banette for size comparison. I reeeeeeeeally like how this came out. I love this thing's Cheshire Cat smile, its so great. Anywho, need to reserve something else while I wait for back shots to emerge so... wow, no one's called Mega Aggron yet as far as I can tell, so I'll do him next.
