Back in the old days of 2009, the titular question was quite commonplace, as the now-standard Team Preview did not yet exist. This project aims to bring back some of those deductive teambuilding exercises updated to the modern generation. Hopefully, the process of trying to figure out the right way to finish a team will aid the community in general building and playing skills, and teach you to use team preview effectively.
Each week, I will post a team that is entirely completed; moves, EVs, items, and all; except for one Pokemon which will be left out. Using your knowledge of the metagame, posters may then suggest full sets that they think would best complete the team. It's essential that you suggest an entire set, as it can be fairly clear that the last Pokemon may beLandorus-T any given popular threat, but as that final Pokemon needs to patch up any remaining holes, the devil is in the details to find the best way to round out the team. In that submission, the poster should explain their thought process to convince people to give them their vote. This phase of the week will also serve as the discussion phase, allowing anyone who feels something may have been left out of a nomination to add their input, and also for people to state some pros and cons they have seen in nominations preceding their post. This should hopefully allow for a more informed next step:
After a few days have passed to allow full discussion of the submissions, the voting round will begin and anyone may vote for whichever person they believe best completed the posted team. The person whose submission wins the popular vote will be the winner of the week, and be added to the Hall of Fame. Once the decision has been made, the builder of the original team will be given a chance to reveal the true final Pokemon and their reasoning behind that decision.
RULES:
1. Standard forum rules apply, so no flaming, antagonizing, or judging other people's submissions outside of constructive criticisms.
2. No move or item slashes in your set submissions - you can't have more than one item or more than 4 moves in battle, so you can't have them here either.
3. Only one nomination per person, per round. If you believe there are multiple good "lasts", then just pick whichever you think is best.
4. No changing the other members of the team, including sets. The last will have been picked based on the given sets, so your suggestion should do the same. If you have a couple small things that you think could help, you may mention them, just don't tear apart the provided team.
5. Voting for your own nomination is NOT allowed.
6. Please PM me if you have a team that you would like to be featured in this project! The winner of the week before will always have precedence in providing the next team, but they may elect to not do so.
7. No stealing of ideas. For example, if someone else has already posted a bulky Thundurus set and you think that a different spread on that same Thundurus would fit better, tough. However, if the sets are different enough that they clearly serve different roles, multiple nominations may be made for the same Pokemon. Use your judgment on this one, I will not hesitate to make you change your nom if it is too similar to a preceding one.
8. Reservation posts are allowed, but after 1 hour they will expire.
9. Failure to abide by any of the above rules may get you barred from future contributions
