Base Stats: 80 HP / 70 Atk / 65 Def / 80 SpA / 120 SpD / 100 Spe
Abilities: Mycelium Might**
Notable Moves:
  • Spikes
  • Toxic Spikes
  • Spore
  • Rapid Spin
  • Leech Seed
  • Toxic
  • Taunt
  • Knock Off
  • Giga Drain
  • Energy Ball
  • Earth Power
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Dazzling Gleam
  • Hex
New Ability:

Mycelium Might:
Status moves used by this Pokemon ignore the target's Ability, but when using a status move, the Pokemon will always move last

Pros:
  • One of only two Spore users in the tier, allowing it to easily shut down offensive threats
  • A wide variety of support moves such as Spikes, Rapid Spin, Toxic, Knock Off, and Leech Seed to further help out its teammates
  • Incredible Special Defense
  • Good Speed for a support Pokemon, with the ability to boost even more thanks to Rapid Spin
  • Good dual STABs in Giga Drain/Energy Ball and Earth Power
  • Typing gives it both an Electric immunity and a Stealth Rock resistance
Cons:
  • Mycelium Might, while interesting on the surface, is actually a pretty bad Ability, nullifying Toedscruel's good Speed when using its wide status movepool. Its secondary effect won't see any real use either, since there is only one viable Magic Bounce Pokemon in the tier
  • Has a crippling 4x weakness to Ice, along with weaknesses to other common types like Flying, Fire, and Bug
  • Suffers from 4MSS - it wants to fit both STABs, Spore, Rapid Spin, Spikes, Leech Seed, and Knock Off
  • Poor physical Defense means it struggles to take powerful physical neutral hits
Terastallizing Potential:
  • Tera Ground removes most of the crippling weaknesses bestowed on Toedscruel by its Grass typing, allowing it to resist Fire and Poison type moves at the cost of gaining a weakness to Water and Grass
  • Tera Steel gives Toedscruel one of the best defensive typings in the game, removing most of its weaknesses
  • Tera Water also removes a lot of Toedscruel's weaknesses, but turns its Electric immunity into a weakness
Potential Movesets:

Defensive Support

Toedscruel @ Leftovers
Ability: Mycelium Might
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain / Energy Ball / Spikes
- Earth Power
- Rapid Spin / Knock Off / Spikes / Leech Seed
- Spore

This set allows Toedscruel to provide valuable support to its teammates through its wide status movepool. Spore is a necessity, putting powerful offensive threats to sleep and giving Toedscruel a free turn to make progress, setting up Spikes and/or Leech Seed, knocking off an opponent's item, or getting rid of hazards with Rapid Spin. Giga Drain combined with Leftovers greatly increases Toedscruel's longevity, allowing it to Spore opponents multiple times per match, though Energy Ball can be used for a little extra damage.

Other Options:
  • Toxic can be used to cripple defensive Pokemon, but Toedscruel struggles to fit it onto its moveset, and Spore is much more valuable as its status of choice.
  • Hex synergizes well with Spore and does super-effective damage to threats like Gengar and Espathra, but it takes up a valuable moveslot, and Toedscruel already has methods to hit both of the aforementioned Pokemon for SE damage.
  • Rocky Helmet can be used as the held item to punish physical attackers like Slither Wing that check Toedscruel, but the recovery from Leftovers is more appreciated.

Toedscruel has many common weaknesses that do hinder it a bit. It has many valuable traits most notably Spore which is one of the best moves in the game. The utility of that alone makes it a valuable asset and add on its great special bulk, entry hazard removal and a whole host of other moves. It does have good bulk but is prone to getting worn down though. It is still very good at what it does though.
