Mega Glalie as a check
glalie-mega.png

Glalie-Mega @ Glalitite
Ability: Refrigerate
EVs: 228 Atk / 28 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake
- Freeze-Dry
- Ice Shard

Slightly shaky check - especially if stealth rocks are on the field, but Glalie can take a Band Thousand Arrows from full, while proceeding to OHKO with any of its Ice moves. Once Zygarde is locked into Outrage, Glalie can come in safely and kill with Ice Shard.

252 Atk Choice Band Zygarde-10% Thousand Arrows vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Glalie-Mega: 220-261 (73 - 86.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

228 Atk Glalie-Mega Ice Shard vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Zygarde-10%: 328-388 (131.7 - 155.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Chesnaught @ Leftovers
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Wood Hammer
- Synthesis
- Drain Punch

Can enter on Zydog(zygarde 10%) and tank any hit, being at best 3HKOd by Outrage and it can recover itself with Synthesis and Drain Punch, set up Spikes or just 2HKO Zydog with Wood Hammer

252 Atk Choice Band Zygarde-10% Extreme Speed vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Chesnaught: 68-81 (17.9 - 21.3%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery

Florges @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Moonblast
- Calm Mind
- Synthesis
- Aromatherapy

Florges is able to eat any hit from Zygarde and doesn't mind Toxic because it has access to Aromatherapy.

252 Atk Choice Band Zygarde-10% Thousand Arrows vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Florges: 169-199 (46.9 - 55.2%) -- 16.4% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Abomasnow @ Abomasite
Ability: Soundproof
EVs: 208 HP / 252 Atk / 48 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Wood Hammer
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake

With this spread Mega-Abomasnow can tank an Outrage after rocks and kill it with Ice Shard. Its typing allows it to take Thousand Arrows decently well, not being 2HKO'd with rocks up.

252 Atk Choice Band Zygarde-10% Outrage vs. 208 HP / 0 Def Abomasnow-Mega: 235-277 (63 - 74.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Foul Play

With this spread P2 can enter safely on Zydog, take any hit, being 3HKOed by Outrage and kill it with Ice Beam. This spread may be worse worse than SpD but it allows P2 to check Band Bewear and to check better things like DD Flygon and Feraligatr. So it's not just for Zydog.

252 Atk Choice Band Zygarde-10% Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Porygon2: 127-150 (33.9 - 40.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Another week lets go

Checks:
chesnaught.png
Chesnaught (The Bill Cipher)
Does a great job, not a counter cuz Outrage can 2HKO after Rocks and Toxic + Wood Hammer is not a KO so Zydog can try another Outrage and get the kill.
florges.png
Florges (ThiccTornadus)
Hard to 2HKO with Thousand Arrows without Rocks, Moonblast is a KO
Mega Abomasnow (askov)
Outrage can't KO even after Rocks or 3 layers Spikes and Ice Shard is a OHKO

Counters:
Gligar (Cheryl.)
Takes no damage at all, Immunity set is immune to Toxic Earthquake will at worst 3HKO.
Cresselia (HypnoEmpire)
Will OHKO 99% of the time, can take hits even Badly poisoned and doesn't care at all
Porygon2 (JonathanXtreme)
"With this spread P2 can enter safely on Zydog, take any hit, being 3HKOed by Outrage and kill it with Ice Beam."

Next Victim of the Week is:
Swords Dance Virizion

Virizion @ Grassium Z
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
Another underrated Victim of the Week, Virizion is a threatening setup sweeper, once it get a free set up opportunity a few mons can stop it, mainly given its coverage will hit almost any Pokemon in the tier and its got some useful resists, what are the best counters/checks to this set?

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Atk / 96 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Shadow Claw
- Shadow Sneak

Standard Doublade set, easily takes anything Virizion can throw at it for days. Z-Leaf Blade does nothing, Stone Edge does nothing, Close Combat literally does nothing. Z-Leaf Blade at +2 tickles. Meanwhile, Iron Head has a very good chance to 2HKO Virizion, and even if it doesn't get the 2HKO, it gets finished off by Shadow Sneak anyway. Easiest counter to Virizion.
+2 252 Atk Virizion Bloom Doom (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Doublade: 104-123 (32.2 - 38.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Virizion Leaf Blade vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Doublade: 54-63 (16.7 - 19.5%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock

Salazzle @ Poisonium Z
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 8 HP / 248 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Wave
- Hidden Power Grass

Salazzle can threaten Virizion with super effective STAB Z-Sludge Wave and can tank Virizion's attacks other than Stone Edge, but can't enter safely on Close Combat because of its minuscule defenses, and Virizion is only OHKOed by Z-Sludge Wave if it's full health, and needs some chip damage or Close Combat's defense drop to be OHKOed by Sludge Wave/Fire Blast.
248 SpA Salazzle Acid Downpour (175 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Virizion: 408-482 (126.3 - 149.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
248 SpA Salazzle Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Virizion: 258-306 (79.8 - 94.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Dragalge @ Choice Specs
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 204 HP / 252 SpA / 52 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Sludge Wave
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Toxic Spikes

It can enter on any move (unless Virizion is on 2+, and even then,it needs to be at +5 to OHKO) and can retaliate back with Sludge Wave/Draco Meteor or set up Toxic Spikes for later in the game

252+ SpA Choice Specs Adaptability Dragalge Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Virizion: 306-360 (94.7 - 111.4%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

Cresselia (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 204 Def / 56 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Toxic
- Moonlight
- Moonblast

Cresselia can take hits from +2 Virizion decently well, even tanking a +2 Bloom Doom, but I put it as a check because it can't kill Virizion quickly, which let Virizion set up one more time and do decent damage to Cresselia. It can use Psyshock to do more damage to Virizion, but then it'll do less damage to Pokemon such as Chesnaught

+2 252 Atk Virizion Bloom Doom (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 204+ Def Cresselia: 292-345 (65.9 - 77.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Thank you all for participating! Here are the results:

Checks:

dragalge.png
Dragalge by The Bill Cipher

Takes any hit, even at +2 and after some chip damage. OHKOes Virizion with Choice Specs Sludge Wave from full health.

salazzle.png
Salazzle by JonathanXtreme

Good offensive check, can switch into any move after Rocks, except Stone Edge, and OHKOes Virizion with Acid Downpour from full health.

cresselia.png
Cresselia by askov

Physically defensive Cresselia can be overwhelmed by +2 Bloom Doom + +2 Leaf Blade. This can be played around by using Moonlight on the turn the Virizion player uses the Z-move, or by baiting the Z-move. Unfortunately, the provided set lacks Psyshock which even makes it difficult to properly check Virizion if the Z-move has already been used:

0 SpA Cresselia Psychic vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Virizion: 122-146 (37.7 - 45.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Therefore allowing for another SD:

+4 252 Atk Virizion Leaf Blade vs. 248 HP / 204+ Def Cresselia: 226-267 (51 - 60.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Anyway, I'm going to let this one slide since we are low on submissions this week but for future weeks: Don't hesitate to pick the optimal set for checking the victim of the week!

Counter:

doublade.png
Doublade by HypnoEmpire

"Standard Doublade set, easily takes anything Virizion can throw at it for days. Easiest counter to Virizion." STAY TUNED FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE NEXT VICTIM!

(which will be soon i promise :toast:)

And here it is, the 25th victim of the week...

meloetta.gif

Calm Mind Meloetta!

Meloetta @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Calm Mind

This set gives up Normal STAB for better coverage in Shadow Ball and Focus Blast, the latter of which can be converted into a Z-move by the item of choice,
Fightinium Z. This allow Meloetta to break through some Dark and Steel types that give it trouble.
How do you deal with Meloetta?

Durant as a check

durant.gif

Durant @ Choice Band
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Crunch
- Rock Slide
- Superpower

Due to its 109 Base Speed, Durant can naturally outspeed Meloetta and KO with Crunch. Durant can take Meloetta's attacks other than All-Out Pummeling, but Durant can't switch-in safely on Meloetta because of its poor defensive stats, being OHKOed by Z-Focus Blast.
252 Atk Choice Band Hustle Durant Crunch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meloetta: 430-506 (126 - 148.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Meloetta Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Durant: 232-273 (90.2 - 106.2%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Meloetta All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Durant: 366-431 (142.4 - 167.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

- Liquidation
- Aqua Jet
- Sucker Punch

Golisopod can easily revenge kill Meloetta, since it has a priority and super effective move called First Impression, that can OHKO Meloetta. However, Golisopod isn't a Switch-in. Insect Plate is used to OHKO Zydog with First Impression too.

252+ Atk Insect Plate Golisopod First Impression vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meloetta: 468-552 (137.2 - 161.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Bruxish @ Choice Band
Ability: Strong Jaw
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Psychic Fangs
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Crunch

Bruxish can enter on Meloetta(unless Meloetta is +1) and can use Crunch to kill Meloetta. Also, if you are gutsy enough, you can enter on a predicted Psychic or Z-Focus Blast. Meloetta can't enter on Bruxish, because of Crunch and Waterfall (Psychic Fangs can 2HKO also)

This thing is impossible to counter lol, Araquanid as a check.

araquanid.png

Araquanid @ Splash Plate
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 64 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 188 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Spider Web
- Toxic
- Rest

This is my favorite Araquanid set, but Choice Band and Waterium-Z check Meloetta as well and AV definitely does if that set even exists anymore. The spread outspeeds Umbreon. You avoid the 2HKO from +0 Psychic from full and you avoid the OHKO from +1 Psychic even after rocks. Meanwhile, you OHKO Meloetta with Liquidation after rocks. However, +0 Psychic 2HKOes Araquanid after rocks. It's a shaky check but not much can tank hits from Meloetta anyway.
252 SpA Meloetta Psychic vs. 64 HP / 0 SpD Araquanid: 115-136 (39.1 - 46.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Pursuit

roll in your favor to ohko without hazards but with slight chip or a spike/rocks up it's a guaranteed ohko. isn't really a ssi because of focus blast but can switch in on a predicted psychic/shadow ball or just rk with knock or pursuit if they try switching out.

Goodra @ Choice Band
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 4 SpD / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Iron Tail
- Fire Punch
- Power Whip

Goodra's good Special Defense stat allows it to tank a +1 Psychic/AoP and can always kill Meloetta with Outrage after rocks. Goodra also doesn't die to unboosted AoP + Psychic unless there is Rocks/Spikes on the field and Meloetta get near max roll with both AoP and Psychic.

+1 252 SpA Meloetta All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Goodra: 215-253 (66.9 - 78.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Ok let's go for the winners of 25th week:

Counters:
Escavalier (ThiccTornadus)
Can switch into anything decently well, protect a Z (and even if it doesn't forcing out Meloetta is enough to recover some HP back), Meloetta, in return Pursuit is a 2HKO and Megahorn is a OHKO.

Checks:
Goodra (askov)
Outrage KOes, can take a +1 Z or a +0 Z + Psychic without many hazards.
Bruxish (The Bill Cipher)
Can take anything once without Rocks, anything but Shadow Ball with them, outspeed and KO with Crunch.
Durant (JonathanXtreme)
That wasn't ane easy chioce but I chose Durant cuz it will 80% of the time always OHKO, can't switch but will always outspeed and OHKO Meloetta.

Next Week's Victim is:
Band Bruxish
bruxish.gif

Bruxish @ Choice Band
Ability: Strong Jaw
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Psychic Fangs
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Crunch
Bruxish is so strong, SD is really threatening and Choice Band is a set most teams have problem against because most teams won't look for a Bruxish check (given its not common), Band Bruxish is kind of an underrated threat but it's still very threatening, its Psychic Fangs hurts so much and the other STABs cover almost everything else. How to counter/check this fish?

umbreon.gif

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature

- Heal Bell
- Foul Play

Umbreon's good bulk allows it to easily take Bruxish's attacks, being 3HKOed by Waterfall, even with Stealth Rock damage and OHKOing back with Foul Play at 80% of the time.
252 Atk Choice Band Bruxish Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Umbreon: 156-184 (39.5 - 46.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Ferroseed @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Relaxed Nature
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Gyro Ball / Knock Off

Ferroseed is one of the only true Counters to CB Bruxish, being able to resist and shrug off Bruxish's stupidly strong Psychic Fangs and it's other STAB moves, and taking minimal damage from Crunch. Ferroseed is able to effectively wear Bruxish down with a combination of Iron Barbs activating and using Leech Seed to heal itself back up and sap away at Bruxish in the process, only further complimented by Protect for further stalling. You can even set up Spikes on Bruxish, or chip away at it with Gyro Ball, or even better, cripple it by Knocking Off it's Choice Band, making Bruxish even more useless against this monstorous little spikeball.

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 48 Def / 212 SpD
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Seismic Toss
- Protect
- Toxic

Registeel can easily tank Psychic Fangs from Bruxish and also isn't 2HKOed by Crunch/Waterfall. It can Toxic the fish and defeat it with Protect + Seismic Toss.

252 Atk Choice Band Strong Jaw Bruxish Crunch vs. 248 HP / 48 Def Registeel: 115-136 (31.6 - 37.4%) -- 0% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Registeel Seismic Toss vs. 0 HP Bruxish: 100-100 (36.1 - 36.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
