CB Weavile as a Check

weavile.gif

Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Pursuit

Weavile's frailty restrains it from switching too many times into... well, pretty much everything. But, it IS immune to M-Latias' Stored Power/Psyshock, which comes in very handy when checking it. Furthermore, M-Latias's coverage moves doesn't OHKO from full at +2 and doesn't OHKO after SR at +1! Offensively speaking, depending on the situation, Weavile has the choice to either Pursuit-trap M-Latias, resulting in a swift OHKO if it switches out (or a 2HKO if it stays), or to simply OHKO it with Icicle Crash (however, since M-Latias is max HP, you'll need a bit of prior damage (SR would be enough) to (almost) guarantee those KOs).
+1 0 SpA Latias-Mega Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Weavile: 148-175 (52.6 - 62.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 0 SpA Latias-Mega Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Weavile: 197-232 (70.1 - 82.5%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+3 0 SpA Latias-Mega Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Weavile: 246-290 (87.5 - 103.2%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Pursuit (40 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega: 158-188 (43.4 - 51.6%) -- 9.4% chance to 2HKO (99.6% chance to 2HKO after SR)
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Pursuit (80 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega: 318-374 (87.3 - 102.7%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO (93.8% chance to OHKO after SR)
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Icicle Crash vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega: 336-396 (92.3 - 108.7%) -- 50% chance to OHKO (guaranteed OHKO after SR)
Edit: With M-Latias's correct now being displayed, I changed the explanation and the calcs accordingly.

Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock/Heal Bell
- Soft-Boiled

Everyone knows what chansey does at this point. With its immense special bulk it can simply come in 1v1 it with the combination of seismic toss, toxic, and soft boil, and doesn't have to be to weary with psyshock.

0 SpA Latias-Mega Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 153-181 (21.7 - 25.7%) -- 1.7% chance to 4HKO

+1 0 SpA Latias-Mega Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 229-270 (32.5 - 38.4%) -- 98.3% chance to 3HKO

Sableye-Mega (F) @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 116 Def / 144 SpD
Careful Nature
- Protect
- Toxic
- Recover
- Knock Off

+1 252 SpA Latias-Mega Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 100+ SpD Sableye-Mega: 115-136 (37.9 - 44.8%) -- 5.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

+3 252 SpA Latias-Mega Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 100+ SpD Sableye-Mega: 191-225 (63 - 74.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Toxic it and stall it out with Protect and Recover. Knock Off for chip if you want/predict a switch.

Toxic is pretty decent over Wisp because of all the Fire types running around (plus, it cripples stuff like VinCune and Tangrowth while putting a timer on stuff like Mega Latias and Mega Charizard Y who otherwise switch in for free.

altaria-mega.gif

Altaria-Mega @ Altarianite
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Return
- Earthquake
- Roost

Mega Altaria is a Check to CM Mega Latias, being able to take any one hit from it, even at +1 and OHKO with Return. It can set up on unboosted Stored Power variants and attempt to sweep after KOing Mega Latias as well. However, Psyshock does quite a bit to Mega Altaria even unboosted, and both Stored Power and Psyshock 2HKO M-Alt at +1.

Against the 252 HP variant: Return doesn't kill Mega Latias but still does a ton to it (98% at most), and kills at +1, and Mega Altaria finds it much easier to set up now on unboosted Psyshocks, although as said before +1 Shocks and Stored Powers will do a lot.

+1 252 SpA Latias-Mega Stored Power (60 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Altaria-Mega: 150-177 (51.5 - 60.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 SpA Latias-Mega Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Altaria-Mega: 190-225 (65.2 - 77.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Latias-Mega Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Altaria-Mega: 127-151 (43.6 - 51.8%) -- 9.8% chance to 2HKO

4 SpA Latias-Mega Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Altaria-Mega: 106-126 (36.4 - 43.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
+1 4 SpA Latias-Mega Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Altaria-Mega: 160-189 (54.9 - 64.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 4 SpA Latias-Mega Stored Power (60 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Altaria-Mega: 126-148 (43.2 - 50.8%) -- 4.7% chance to 2HKO

252 Atk Pixilate Altaria-Mega Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega: 306-360 (101.6 - 119.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Hard Check: Pursuit Trapper Muk-Alola

Muk-Alola @ Assault Vest
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 248 HP / 136 Atk / 120 SpD / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Poison Jab
- Rock Slide

+6 0 SpA Latias-Mega Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 120 SpD Assault Vest Muk-Alola: 204-241 (49.3 - 58.3%) -- 98.8% chance to 2HKO
0 SpA Latias-Mega Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 120 SpD Assault Vest Muk-Alola: 51-61 (12.3 - 14.7%) -- possible 7HKO

136+ Atk Muk-Alola Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega: 156-186 (42.8 - 51%) -- 3.1% chance to 2HKO
136+ Atk Muk-Alola Pursuit vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega: 98-116 (26.9 - 31.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
136+ Atk Muk-Alola Poison Jab vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega: 96-114 (26.3 - 31.3%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Poison Jab has a nice 51% poison chance, so it is your best option to pressure Mega Latias with a 12% damage per turn.
It is worth noting that Poison Jab has almost the same damage output of Pursuit (if the opponent doesn't switch) and is far stronger if poison connects.
Then, you have to spam Knock Off because it neuters Recover with the aid of regular poison really in order to gain the upper hand in this match-up.

A-Muk is only a check because it has no way to recover HP and because this match is very prediction reliant on both sides.
Otherwise, in a 1 vs 1 situation A-Muk is a counter.

Scarf Garchomp as a check
garchomp.gif

Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Dragon Claw
Scarf Garchomp is a set that's been around since DPPt, and while recent meta trends have made it lose a lot of its luster, it's still a strong revenge killer that hits many threats with its dual STABs. Latias-Mega is easily revenged by Outrage:
252 Atk Garchomp Outrage vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latias-Mega: 338-398 (112.2 - 132.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
In addition, it has the bulk to switch in on a +1 Stored Power:
+1 252 SpA Latias-Mega Stored Power (60 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 178-210 (49.7 - 58.6%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO
In addition, it can switch in on Surf and Thunderbolt with relative ease.
However, past that +1 boost, it can no longer switch in:
+2 252 SpA Latias-Mega Stored Power (100 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 396-466 (110.6 - 130.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
That being said, Garchomp is still a strong check to Latias-Mega that can easily KO it.

Check: Specs Tapu Lele
Tapu Lele @ Choice Specs
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast
- Thunder

Lele takes little from any of Latias's hits, is not 2HKO'd even at +1, and will destroy it with Moonblast. Not a counter because it can't switch directly into a Calm Mind, but even in that scenario Lele still has a chance to win.

Calcs:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 360-426 (98.9 - 117%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. +2 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 182-216 (50 - 59.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. +3 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 146-174 (40.1 - 47.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Latias-Mega Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tapu Lele: 77-91 (27.4 - 32.3%) -- guaranteed 4HKO (Surf does the same damage)
+1 0 SpA Latias-Mega Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tapu Lele: 115-136 (40.9 - 48.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Latias-Mega Stored Power (20 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tapu Lele: 12-15 (4.2 - 5.3%) -- possibly the worst move ever
+1 0 SpA Latias-Mega Stored Power (60 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tapu Lele: 57-68 (20.2 - 24.1%) -- guaranteed 5HKO

I just wish there were more strong physical Dragons in this meta lol. They put this fucker under heaps of pressure due to the lack of Ice Beam.

zygarde.gif

Zygarde @ Leftovers
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 192 HP / 136 Atk / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Thousand Arrows
- Extreme Speed
- Toxic
- Outrage

SubDD is a little better in this meta and also sufficiently pressures Mega Latias, but this matches up with my point above better. CB Zygarde puts the listed Mega Latias variant in a bind because it can't safely boost as long as it is alive and because it is able to pressure before an Outrage lock is practical with Toxic; if it really wants to it can leave Latias in a deadlock of Recovers without the capacity to boost by just clicking Thousand Arrows, which is especially useful if you have already managed to get a Toxic off versus it, and when Outrage is no longer impractical to click Zygarde one-shots Mega Latias with it.

M-Gardevoir as a check
gardevoir-mega.png

Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest/Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Will-O-Wisp/Taunt

M-Gardevoir is a check to M-Latias, due virtue of its typing and great SpDef, It can beat M-Latias with Pixilate Hyper Voice. However, it can't switch into Psyshock at +1 because it gets 2HKOed after rocks. Otherwise, Modest Hyper Voice is a OHKO after rocks and Timid gets the KO half of the time after rocks. If M-Latias runs Stored Power, M-Gardevoir beats it 100% of the time.

252+ SpA Pixilate Gardevoir-Mega Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 326-386 (89.5 - 106%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Pixilate Gardevoir-Mega Hyper Voice vs. +1 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 218-258 (59.8 - 70.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 SpA Pixilate Gardevoir-Mega Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 296-350 (81.3 - 96.1%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

+1 0 SpA Latias-Mega Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gardevoir-Mega: 123-144 (44.4 - 51.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+1 0 SpA Latias-Mega Surf vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gardevoir-Mega: 100-118 (36.1 - 42.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
+1 0 SpA Latias-Mega Stored Power (40 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gardevoir-Mega: 33-39 (11.9 - 14%) -- possible 7HKO after Stealth Rock

Kyurem-B as a hard check

Kyurem-Black @ Icium Z
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Freeze Shock
- Fusion Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power

Kyurem-B can easily kill M-Latias with Subzero Slammer or even with Freeze Shock if needed, while M-Latias can't do much back in return (at least the set posted here) because unboosted attacks will fail to 2HKO Kyurem-B even after rocks, while +1 attacks are unable to 1HKO.

+1 0 SpA Latias Stored Power (40 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Kyurem-Black: 106-126 (27.1 - 32.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
+1 0 SpA Latias Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-Black: 172-204 (43.9 - 52.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Freeze Shock vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias: 524-620 (174 - 205.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Just a note:
1) AV Magearna doesn't work here because at +1, Mega Latias can heal off Fleur Cannon damage with Recover. Because FC lowers Magearna's stats, Mega Latias can then use Magearna as set-up bait.
2) Tapu Lele sounds nice and all but if hazards aren't up, Mega Latias can survive a Moonblast at +2 followed by another Moonblast at +3. Sure, after that you force it to click Recover but it's not the most reliable of checks.

Sorry, since there were too few votes, I decided to wait. However, since the number of votes is so low, I will choose the winners personally. Sorry if this offends anyone but with just two votes, I feel this is the better move.

So, these are the winners this week.
Checks: Zygarde (Martin ) / Kyurem-B (askov )
Counters: Choice Band Tyranitar (Jucherz) / Toxic Chansey (Aecito )

Anyway, we will have Calm Mind Suicune as our victim today.
suicune.gif

Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 24 SpD / 232 Spe OR 252 HP / 40 SpD / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Protect / Rest

Suicune's great bulk and typing allows it to sit and accumulate Calm Minds in front of fat teams that lack a way to hurt it. Substitute and Protect allows Suicune to not only dodge status moves but also aids in PP stalling Ferrothorn and Rotom-W who relies on one move to break Suicune's Substitute. Suicune absolutely hates Toxic Spikes so assume that the player brings in some form of hazard remover before using Suicune. Rest allows Suicune to cure all Status inflicted on it, bypassing Toxic and Toxic Spikes. The first EV spread allows Suicune to outspeed neutral-natured base 95s such as Tapu Lele and Zygarde while the second EV spread allows Suicune's Substitute to have a high chance to survive Rotom-W's Volt Switch at +1 as well as having enough Speed to outpace base 80s Pokemon.

Latias @ Latiasite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Stored Power
- Thunderbolt

She can enter whenever she wants ignoring Scald burns, using Suicune as a setup fodder with Calm Mind (especially if it has Rest), use Recover when she's low and then shoot Thunderbolt until she gets the KO.

0 SpA Suicune Scald vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 28-33 (7.6 - 9%) -- possibly the worst move ever

+1 0 SpA Suicune Scald vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 42-49 (11.5 - 13.4%) -- possible 8HKO

0 SpA Latias-Mega Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 40 SpD Suicune: 148-176 (36.6 - 43.5%) -- 99.1% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

About the Calm Mind war:

+4 0 SpA Suicune Scald vs. +4 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 28-33 (7.6 - 9%) -- possibly the worst move ever

+4 0 SpA Latias-Mega Thunderbolt vs. +4 252 HP / 40 SpD Suicune: 148-176 (36.6 - 43.5%) -- 99.1% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Toxapex @ Black Sludge / Shed Shell (well, not once Dug is banned)
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 196 Def / 64 SpD
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic Spikes / Toxic
- Haze
- Recover

+6 0 SpA Suicune Scald vs. 252 HP / 64 SpD Toxapex: 110-130 (36.1 - 42.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after burn damage

You sit and stall forever. Thanks to big PP counts in Haze and Toxic Spikes, you can also win the PP war (although you really don't want to get in that situation). Switch out if you want I guess because Regenerator means you take literally 0 damage (especially if you have AV Tangrowth as a partner, you can literally switch between the two forever and lose little to no HP at all as you burn Scald PP).

You also set up Toxic Spikes so that Suicune can't come back in as easily.

Specs Koko as a check

Tapu Koko @ Choice Specs
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Volt Switch / U-Turn
- Hidden Power Ice
Specs Koko is a set that's been on the rise recently for its sheer power. It's not its best set - that goes to Z-Wild - but it's still incredible at breaking down defensive cores. Before Suicune sets up, this thing cleanly OHKOes, while Suicune only 3HKOes in return. What makes it so good at checking Suicune is that it can continue to break past it even after multiple boosts:
252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. +2 252 HP / 24 SpD Suicune in Electric Terrain: 236-278 (58.4 - 68.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Suicune 2HKOes in return (showdown site crashing, bad computer sorry).
It's only around +4 that Koko loses the ability to break past it, and that Suicune can win the 1v1. But if you bring in Koko before then, Suicune shouldn't be an issue.
This set does the job better than other Koko sets because other sets are too weak to break past Suicune - the standard Magnet set only 3HKOes when Suicune is at +2. Thus, it's not as reliable at breaking through it, even if it has Taunt. Another boon is that Specs Koko has a more powerful Volt Switch, letting it switch out and having another teammate break through it if it's too chipped to continue.
The set and spread are standard. Overall, Koko is a strong check to Suicune that can continue to break past it even after several boosts.

Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Horn Leech
- Superpower
- Wood Hammer / Stone Edge

SD Tapu Bulu does a good job of keeping Cune in check; while Scald burns blow, it can boost through them as long as Cune is on the field and it is able to cover for any Scald/burn damage with Horn Leech's recovery. Especially nice if paired with smth like HWish Lati/Chansey/Rachi or even just HBell Chansey due ot its ability to shrug off burns to do more breaking later on in the match.

Toxicroak @ Leftovers
Ability: Dry Skin
Evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Gunk Shot
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch / Ice Punch

Toxicroak doesn't care about Suicune at all, absorbing it's only attacking move and setting up Swords Dances for free. Nice part is that Suicine is often seen with Toxic Spikes on, which Croak also absorbs.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Impish Nature
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock / Spikes
- Protect

Ferrothorn can tank boosted Scald with ease and break Cune's substitute with one hit even if burned and possibly stack hazards since it can always do chip damage with Seeds on, mostly appreciating the fact that Rest doesn't remove the Seeds, and even with burn it can do significant damage, forcing cune to retreat or eventually be killed by chip + Whip, therefore, I nominate Ferrothorn as a counter.

Amoonguss pretty much walls Suicune effortlessly due to it's great bulk and access to Clear Smog to nullify stat changes. It also absorbs Toxic Spikes which most Suicune's are accompanied with. However, Amoonguss only has 15 PP on Clear Smog so it could be overwhelmed.
This doesnt work since Amoonguss fails to break Suicune's Sub at +1
