evs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
tera type: Dark / Flying

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Dark Pulse is Yveltal's main attacking option. With Dark Aura and a Life Orb, it allows Yveltal to 2HKO many of the tier's defensive options, such as Necrozma-DM, Primal Groudon, and Zygarde.
  • Oblivion Wing has solid neutral coverage with Dark Pulse, being able to hit the Fairy-, Fighting-, and Dark-types that would switch into Dark Pulse, such as Xerneas, Arceus-Dark, and opposing Yveltal.
  • Taunt shuts down opposing setup, such as Xerneas's Geomancy and Arceus's Swords Dance, entry hazards, such as Primal Groudon's Stealth Rock, and status moves, such as Ho-Oh's Toxic; when combined with Oblivion Wing, it allows Yveltal to win duels against many Pokemon that would otherwise be able to take on Yveltal's attacks, such as support Arceus formes and defensive Eternatus.
  • Knock Off cripples Pokemon, such as Ho-Oh, Chansey and Xerneas, by removing their item, while Sucker Punch allows Yveltal to punish faster Pokemon such as Deoxys-A, Ultra Necrozma, and Mega Mewtwo Y, making it a solid revenge killer.
  • Tera Dark boosts Dark Pulse's power to ridiculous feats, such as being able to 2HKO specially defensive Eternatus, defensive Primal Kyogre, and Ho-Oh, as well as boosting Sucker Punch and Knock Off's damage. Tera Flying can also be used to increase Oblivion Wing's power, letting it hit Arceus-Dark, opposing Yveltal, and Xerneas harder, which in return gives Yveltal more longevity.
  • Yveltal should be used as an offensive check to Pokemon like Primal Groudon, Marshadow, and Necrozma-DM. Switching into resisted moves such as Marshadow's Spectral Thief and Lunala's Moongeist Beam or attacks Yveltal is immune to such as Primal Groudon's Precipice Blades and Ultra Necrozma's Photon Geyser allows Yveltal to stay healthy throughout a game, which is important, as Yveltal can get worn down from Stealth Rock and Life Orb recoil. Oblivion Wing is best suited for use when Yveltal is at low HP, as it would mostly be using Dark Pulse for damage otherwise.
  • Although much of the tier is 2HKOed by Yveltal, most of the metagame is able to 2HKO Yveltal as well, even with neutral moves, such as Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike and Eternatus's Dynamax Cannon.
  • Yveltal should avoid status as much as possible; Toxic from Ho-Oh and Giratina-O ruins its longevity in longer games, paralysis from Zygarde's Glare and Necrozma-DM's Thunder Wave limits its Speed so it's more likely to be KOed by faster threats, and burns from Ho-Oh and Arceus-Dark weaken the strength of Knock Off and Sucker Punch, the latter being problematic against more offensive teams where priority may be necessary for revenge killing.
  • Due to Xerneas not running maximum Speed on its Geomancy sets, it could be worth it for Yveltal to use Taunt to prevent it from setting up, but this is risky and should be only used as a last resort to avoid Yveltal being KOed by Moonblast.
  • Yveltal's immediate power allows it to be an early-game wallbreaker for the team, which is good for offensive structures.
  • Specially offensive Yveltal fits best on offensive teams. Primal Groudon is a good partner, as it is able to beat Pokemon like Zacian-C and Arceus-Fairy that would be hard for Yveltal to break, while Yveltal can break through Giratina-O and Zygarde for Primal Groudon in return; Yveltal is also able to come in on the Ground-type moves that would threaten Primal Groudon, barring Thousand Arrows from Zygarde, while Primal Groudon comes in on the Fairy- and Electric-type moves that threaten Yveltal, such as Xerneas's Moonblast or Primal Kyogre's Thunder. Ho-Oh can remove Stealth Rock for Yveltal, which improves its longevity, and it can also prevent Xerneas from setting up as easily. Necrozma-DM is able to handle Fairy- and Ice-types such as Arceus-Fairy and Calyrex-I, and Yveltal can come into the Ghost-, Dark-, and Ground-type moves that Necrozma-DM struggles with, such as Marshadow's Spectral Thief, opposing Yveltal's Dark Pulse, and Primal Groudon's Precipice Blades.
  • Powerful physical sweepers such as Zacian-C, Mega Salamence, Arceus-Ground, and Ultra Necrozma appreciate Yveltal removing common physical walls such as Zygarde, Giratina, Primal Groudon, and Dondozo, while they handle the special walls such as Ho-Oh and Chansey in return; Zacian-C in particular can break through opposing Yveltal and Arceus-Dark with Play Rough, letting Yveltal spam Dark Pulse more easily.
  • Hazard hyper offense teams using suicide leads such as Deoxys-S, Smeargle, Shuckle, and Glimmora appreciate Yveltal stopping Defog attempts from Ho-Oh, Giratina, and support Arceus formes with Taunt, as well as removing Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon like Ho-Oh, defensive Eternatus, and Giratina with Knock Off.

  • Dark Pulse is Yveltal's main attacking option. With Dark Aura, it's damage is boosted even further, and when equipped with a Life Orb, it allows Yveltal to 2HKO many of the tier's defensive options, such as Necrozma-DM, Primal Groudon and Zygarde. Oblivion Wing has solid neutral coverage with Dark Pulse, being able to hit the Fairy, Fighting and Dark type pokemon Pokemon that would switch into Dark Pulse, such as Xerneas, Mega Lucario Mega Lucario is a very rare Pokemon, I would mention something like Arceus-Dark and opposing Yveltal. Taunt is able to shut down status moves, whether it be opposing setup (Geomancy from Xerneas, Swords Dance from Arceus) I would remove this from the parentheses and incorporate it into the sentence, hazards or status conditions; when combined with Oblivion Wing, it allows Yveltal to win duels against many pokemon Pokemon who would otherwise be able to take on Yveltal's attacks, such many as support Arceus formes. Knock Off is able to cripple pokemon Pokemon by removing their item, such as Ho-Oh, Chansey and Xerneas, while Sucker Punch allows Yveltal to punish faster pokemon Pokemon such as Deoxys-A, Ultra Necrozma and Mega Mewtwo Y, making it a solid revenge killer.

  • Tera Dark is the standard for Yveltal, as it boosts Dark Pulse's power to ridiculous feats, such as being able to 2HKO specially defensive Eternatus, defensive Primal Kyogre and Ho-Oh, as well as boosting Sucker Punch and Knock Off's damage as well. Tera Flying can also be used to increase Oblivion Wing's power, letting it hit Arceus-Dark, opposing Yveltal and Xerneas harder, which in return gives Yveltal more longevity.

  • Maximum special attack lets Yveltal hit as hard as possible, and with maximum speed investment and a Naive nature, it allows Yveltal to outspeed pokemon such as Rayquaza, Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre and non-choiced Xerneas. I don’t think there’s no real need to keep this considering it’s a 252/252 ev spread.

  • Yveltal should be used as an offensive check to pokemon Pokemon like Primal Groudon, Marshadow and Necrozma-DM. Switching into resisted moves such as Marshadow's Spectral Thief, Lunala's Moongeist Beam, or attacks Yveltal is immune to, such as Primal Groudon's Precipice Blades or Ultra Necrozma's Photon Geyser allow Yveltal to stay healthy throughout a game, which is important as Yveltal can get worn down from Stealth Rocks and Life Orb recoil. Oblivion Wing is best suited for when Yveltal is at low HP, as you would mostly be using Dark Pulse for damage. Although much of the tier is 2HKO'd by Yveltal, it's important to be careful, as most of the metagame is able to 2HKO Yveltal as well, even with neutral moves, such as Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike. Yveltal should avoid status as much as possible, Toxic ruins its longevity in longer games, paralysis (such as Glare)I would also remove this from the parentheses and add it to the main sentence here limits its speed so it's more likely to faint from moving last, and burns can weaken the strength of Knock Off and Sucker Punch, the latter being problematic against more offensive teams, where priority may be necessary for revenge killing. Due to Xerneas not running max speed on its Geomancy sets, it could be worth it to use Taunt to prevent it from using Geomancy, although this comes at the risk of fainting from Moonblast, so it should be used as a last resort. Yveltal's immediate power allows it to be an early wallbreaker for the team, which is good for offensive structures.

  • Specially offensive Yveltal fits best on offensive teams. Primal Groudon is a good partner as it is able to beat pokemon Pokemon like Zacian-C and Magearna who would be hard for Yveltal to break, while Yveltal can break through Giratina-O and Zygarde for Primal Groudon; Yveltal is also able to come in on the ground type moves that would threaten Primal Groudon, barring Thousand Arrows from Zygarde, as Primal Groudon comes in on the Fairy and Electric type moves that threaten Yveltal, such as Zekrom's Bolt Strike. I would use a more relevant example such as Xerneas moonblast here. Ho-Oh can remove stealth rocks for Yveltal, which improves in longevity, whilst preventing Xerneas from setting up as easily. Necrozma-DM is able to handle fairy types as well as rock and ice types, such as Mega Diancie and Kyurem-Black, so Yveltal can come in on the ghost, dark and ground moves that Necrozma-DM struggles with. Powerful physical sweepers such as Zacian-C, Mega Salamence, Arceus-Ground and Ultra Necrozma appreciate Yveltal from removing common physical walls such as Zygarde, Giratina, Primal Groudon and Dondozo on stall teams, as they handle the special walls such as Magearna, Ho-Oh and Chansey; Zacian-Crowned in particular is good as it is able to break through opposing Yveltal and Arceus-Dark with Play Rough, letting Yveltal spam Dark Pulse easier. Hazard HO teams using leads such as Deoxys-S, Smeargle, Shuckle or Glimmora appreciate Yveltal stopping Defog attempts with Taunt, as well as knocking off boots from pokemon Pokemon like Ho-Oh, defensive Eternatus and Giratina.

Taunt should also be a separate bullet point Taunt is able to shut down status moves, whether it be opposing setup, such as Xerneas's Geomancy or Arceus's Swords Dance, hazards or status conditions Such as? Mention some foes Yveltal can block from setting hazards or status; when combined with Oblivion Wing, it allows Yveltal to win duels against many Pokemon who would otherwise be able to take on Yveltal's attacks, such as support Arceus formes Could use an example or two more here. The following should also be a separate bullet point Knock Off is able to cripple Pokemon by removing their item, such as Ho-Oh, Chansey and Xerneas, while Sucker Punch allows Yveltal to punish faster Pokemon such as Deoxys-A, Ultra Necrozma and Mega Mewtwo Y, making it a solid revenge killer.

The following should be a separate bullet point Yveltal should avoid status as much as possible, Toxic from who? ruins its longevity in longer games, paralysis, like Zygarde's Glare and Thunder Wave from who? If it was only Zygarde's Glare (it's not) it'd deserve just a separate mention, limits its speed Speed so it's more likely to faint from moving last, and burns from who? can weaken the strength of Knock Off and Sucker Punch, the latter being problematic against more offensive teams, where priority may be necessary for revenge killing. The following should be a separate bullet point Due to Xerneas not running max speed Speed on its Geomancy sets, it could be worth it to use Taunt to prevent it from using Geomancy, although this comes at the risk of fainting from Moonblast, so it should be used as a last resort. • Specially offensive Yveltal fits best on offensive teams. Primal Groudon is a good partner as it is able to beat Pokemon like Zacian-C and Magearna Magearna is rather niche, use more meta-relevant examples who would be hard for Yveltal to break, while Yveltal can break through Giratina-O and Zygarde for Primal Groudon; Yveltal is also able to come in on the ground type Ground-type moves that would threaten Primal Groudon, barring Thousand Arrows from Zygarde, as Primal Groudon comes in on the Fairy- and Electric-type hyphens added moves that threaten Yveltal, such as Xerneas's Moonblast. Necrozma-DM is able to handle fairy types Fairy-types as well as rock Rock- and ice Ice-types, such as Mega Diancie and Kyurem-Black very niche examples, mention more relevant threats, would also require removing the Ice-type and Rock-type parts BTW, so Yveltal can come in on into the ghost Ghost-, dark Dark- and ground Ground-type moves that Necrozma-DM struggles with Such as? Mention some moves and foes with them. The following should be a separate bullet point Powerful physical sweepers such as Zacian-C, Mega Salamence, Arceus-Ground and Ultra Necrozma appreciate Yveltal from removing common physical walls such as Zygarde, Giratina, Primal Groudon and Dondozo on stall teams, as they handle the special walls such as Magearna, Too niche, especially for stall Ho-Oh and Chansey; Zacian-Crowned Zacian-C in particular is good as it is able to can break through opposing Yveltal and Arceus-Dark with Play Rough, letting Yveltal spam Dark Pulse easier. The following should be a separate bullet point Hazard HO hyper offense teams using suicide leads such as Deoxys-S, Smeargle, Shuckle or Glimmora appreciate Yveltal stopping Defog attempts with Taunt from who?, as well as knocking off removing boots Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon like Ho-Oh, defensive Eternatus and Giratina, by using Knock Off.

Okay, as I'm now a proper QC member, I can self-stamp the previous QC check, but after thinking about it, I'd rather see the above getting applied before granting a QC 2/2 and letting this move to GP phase as there's a lot to revise.

Please remember to take a look at the spelling and grammar standards, in particular when it comes to Pokemon-specific terminology.

  • Taunt can shut down status moves, whether it be opposing setup, remove comma such as Xerneas's Geomancy, add comma or Arceus's Swords Dance, hazards, such as Primal Groudon's Stealth Rock, or status conditions, remove comma such as Ho-Oh's Toxic; w. When combined with Oblivion Wing, it allows Yveltal to win duels against many Pokemon whothat would otherwise be able to take on Yveltal's attacks, remove comma such as support Arceus formes and defensive Eternatus.
  • Knock Off cripples Pokemon by removing their item, such as Ho-Oh, Chansey, add comma and Xerneas by removing their item, while Sucker Punch allows Yveltal to punish faster Pokemon such as Deoxys-A, Ultra Necrozma, add comma and Mega Mewtwo Y, making it a solid revenge killer.
  • Tera Dark is the standard for Yveltal, as it boosts Dark Pulse's power to ridiculous feats, remove comma such as being able to 2HKO specially defensive Eternatus, defensive Primal Kyogre, add comma and Ho-Oh, as well as boosting Sucker Punch and Knock Off's damage as well. Tera Flying can also be used to increase Oblivion Wing's power, letting it hit Arceus-Dark, opposing Yveltal and Xerneas harder, which in return gives Yveltal more longevity.
  • Yveltal should be used as an offensive check to Pokemon like Primal Groudon, Marshadow, add comma and Necrozma-DM. Switching into resisted moves such as Marshadow's Spectral Thief, Lunala's Moongeist Beam, or attacks Yveltal is immune to, remove comma such as Primal Groudon's Precipice Blades or Ultra Necrozma's Photon Geyser allow Yveltal to stay healthy throughout a game, which is important, add comma as Yveltal can get worn down from Stealth Rock and Life Orb recoil. Oblivion Wing is best suited for when Yveltal is at low HP, as it would mostly be using Dark Pulse for damage.
  • Although much of the tier is 2HKOed by Yveltal, it's important to be careful, as most of the metagame is able to 2HKO Yveltal as well, even with neutral moves, such as Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike and Eternatus's Dynamax Cannon.
  • Yveltal should avoid status as much as possible,; replace comma with semicolon (or period) Toxic from Ho-Oh and Giratina-O ruins its longevity in longer games, paralysis, like Zygarde's Glare or Necrozma-DM's Thunder Wave, limits its Speed so it's more likely to faint from moving last, and burns from Ho-Oh or Arceus-Dark weaken the strength of Knock Off and Sucker Punch, the latter being problematic against more offensive teams, where priority may be necessary for revenge killing.
  • Due to Xerneas not running max Speed on its Geomancy sets, it could be worth it to use Taunt to prevent it from using Geomancy, although this comes at the risk of fainting from Moonblast, so it should be used as a last resort. Yveltal's immediate power allows it to be an early wallbreaker for the team, which is good for offensive structures.
  • Specially offensive Yveltal fits best on offensive teams. Primal Groudon is a good partner as it is able to beat Pokemon like Zacian-C and Arceus-Fairy whothat would be hard for Yveltal to break, while Yveltal can break through Giratina-O and Zygarde for Primal Groudon; Yveltal is also able to come in on the Ground-type moves that would threaten Primal Groudon, barring Thousand Arrows from Zygarde, aswhile different transition word is needed Primal Groudon comes in on the Fairy- and Electric-type moves that threaten Yveltal, remove comma such as Xerneas's Moonblast. Ho-Oh can remove Stealth Rock for Yveltal, which improves its longevity, whilst preventing Xerneas from setting up as easily. Necrozma-DM is able to handle Fairy- remove hyphen types as well as Ice- remove hyphen types Don't hyphenate if you aren't using type as an adjective, remove comma such as Calyrex-Ice, sowhile Yveltal can come into the Ghost-, Dark-, add comma and Ground-type moves that Necrozma-DM struggles with, remove comma such as Marshadow's Spectral Thief, opposing Yveltal's Dark Pulse, add comma and Primal Groudon's Precipice Blades.
  • Powerful physical sweepers such as Zacian-C, Mega Salamence, Arceus-Ground, add comma and Ultra Necrozma appreciate Yveltal removing common physical walls such as Zygarde, Giratina, Primal Groudon, add comma and Dondozo on stall teams, as and 'as' doesn't make sense here, replace with 'and' or 'while' they handle the special walls such as Ho-Oh and Chansey; Zacian-C in particular is good as fluff can break through opposing Yveltal and Arceus-Dark with Play Rough, letting Yveltal spam Dark Pulse easiermore easily. adverbs should be used to modify verbs
  • Hazard hyper offense teams using suicide leads such as Deoxys-S, Smeargle, Shuckle, add comma or Glimmora appreciate Yveltal stopping Defog attempts from Ho-Oh, Giratina, add comma and support Arceus formes with Taunt, remove comma as well as removing Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon like Ho-Oh, defensive Eternatus, add comma and Giratina via Knock Off.

  • Dark Pulse is Yveltal's main attacking option. With Dark Aura, its damage is boosted even further, and with and a Life Orb, it allows Yveltal to 2HKO many of the tier's defensive options, such as Necrozma-DM, Primal Groudon, (AC) and Zygarde.
  • Oblivion Wing has solid neutral coverage with Dark Pulse, being able to hit the Fairy-, Fighting- and Dark- type Pokemon Fighting-, and Dark-types that would switch into Dark Pulse, such as Xerneas, Arceus-Dark, (AC) and opposing Yveltal.
  • Taunt can shut down status moves, whether it be shuts down opposing setup, such as Xerneas's Geomancy or and Arceus's Swords Dance, entry hazards, such as Primal Groudon's Stealth Rock, or and status conditions moves, such as Ho-Oh's Toxic; when combined with Oblivion Wing, it allows Yveltal to win duels against many Pokemon who that would otherwise be able to take on Yveltal's attacks, such as support Arceus formes and defensive Eternatus.
  • Knock Off cripples Pokemon by removing their item, such as Ho-Oh, Chansey and Xerneas, by removing their item, while Sucker Punch allows Yveltal to punish faster Pokemon such as Deoxys-A, Ultra Necrozma, (AC) and Mega Mewtwo Y, making it a solid revenge killer.
  • Tera Dark is the standard for Yveltal, as it (not really the standard when slashed with something else) boosts Dark Pulse's power to ridiculous feats, such as being able to 2HKO specially defensive Eternatus, defensive Primal Kyogre, (AC) and Ho-Oh, as well as boosting Sucker Punch and Knock Off's damage as well. Tera Flying can also be used to increase Oblivion Wing's power, letting it hit Arceus-Dark, opposing Yveltal, (AC) and Xerneas harder, which in return gives Yveltal more longevity.
  • Yveltal should be used as an offensive check to Pokemon like Primal Groudon, Marshadow, (AC) and Necrozma-DM. Switching into resisted moves such as Marshadow's Spectral Thief (RC) and Lunala's Moongeist Beam (RC) or attacks Yveltal is immune to (RC) such as Primal Groudon's Precipice Blades or and Ultra Necrozma's Photon Geyser allow allows Yveltal to stay healthy throughout a game, which is important, (AC) as Yveltal can get worn down from Stealth Rock and Life Orb recoil. Oblivion Wing is best suited for use when Yveltal is at low HP, as it would mostly be using Dark Pulse for damage otherwise.
  • Although much of the tier is 2HKOed by Yveltal, it's important to be careful, as most of the metagame is able to 2HKO Yveltal as well, even with neutral moves, such as Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike and Eternatus's Dynamax Cannon.
  • Yveltal should avoid status as much as possible; (semicolon) Toxic from Ho-Oh and Giratina-O ruins its longevity in longer games, paralysis, like paralysis from Zygarde's Glare or and Necrozma-DM's Thunder Wave (RC) limits its Speed so it's more likely to faint from moving last be KOed by faster threats, and burns from Ho-Oh or and Arceus-Dark weaken the strength of Knock Off and Sucker Punch, the latter being problematic against more offensive teams (RC) where priority may be necessary for revenge killing.
  • Due to Xerneas not running max maximum Speed on its Geomancy sets, it could be worth it to use Taunt to prevent it from using Geomancy, although this comes at the risk of fainting from Moonblast, so it should be used as a last resort for Yveltal to use Taunt to prevent it from setting up, but this is risky and should be only used as a last resort to avoid Yveltal being KOed by Moonblast. Yveltal's immediate power allows it to be an early-game wallbreaker for the team, which is good for offensive structures. (should this last sentence not be its own bullet? these are 2 completely unconnected ideas in 1 point)
  • Specially offensive Yveltal fits best on offensive teams. Primal Groudon is a good partner, (AC) as it is able to beat Pokemon like Zacian-C and Arceus-Fairy who that would be hard for Yveltal to break, while Yveltal can break through Giratina-O and Zygarde for Primal Groudon in return; Yveltal is also able to come in on the Ground-type moves that would threaten Primal Groudon, barring Thousand Arrows from Zygarde, as while Primal Groudon comes in on the Fairy- and Electric-type moves that threaten Yveltal, such as Xerneas's Moonblast (needs an electric type move example or to delete that reference). Ho-Oh can remove Stealth Rock for Yveltal, which improves its longevity, whilst preventing and it can also prevent (to make it clearer ho-oh is preventing, not yvel) Xerneas from setting up as easily. Necrozma-DM is able to handle Fairy- types as well as Ice- types, such as Calyrex-Ice, so Fairy- and Ice-types such as (insert fairy example) and Calyrex-I, and Yveltal can come into the Ghost-, Dark-, (AC) and Ground-type moves that Necrozma-DM struggles with, such as Marshadow's Spectral Thief, opposing Yveltal's Dark Pulse, (AC) and Primal Groudon's Precipice Blades.
  • Powerful physical sweepers such as Zacian-C, Mega Salamence, Arceus-Ground, (AC) and Ultra Necrozma appreciate Yveltal removing common physical walls on stall teams such as Zygarde, Giratina, Primal Groudon, (AC) and Dondozo, whileon stall teams, as they handle the special walls such as Ho-Oh and Chansey in return; Zacian-C in particular is good as can break through opposing Yveltal and Arceus-Dark with Play Rough, letting Yveltal spam Dark Pulse easier more easily.
  • Hazard hyper offense teams using suicide leads such as Deoxys-S, Smeargle, Shuckle or Shuckle, and Glimmora appreciate Yveltal stopping Defog attempts from Ho-Oh, Giratina, (AC) and support Arceus formes with Taunt, as well as removing Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon like Ho-Oh, defensive Eternatus, (AC) and Giratina via with Knock Off.
