[SET]
Physical Wall (Ting-Lu) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator / Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Spikes / Stealth Rock
- Ruination / Taunt
- Whirlwind / Ruination / Protect
[SET COMMENTS]
Thanks to its incredible defenses and solid utility movepool, Ting-Lu functions as an adequate physically defensive wall. Ting-Lu can use Spikes for entry hazard stack team archetypes, which benefit cleaners such as Azelf and Dragonite; alternatively, Stealth Rock allows Ting-Lu to provide general support for its team and deal chip damage to Corviknight, Chien-Pao, and Ceruledge. Ruination lets Ting-Lu chip would-be switch-ins like Zamazenta, Great Tusk, and Galarian Zapdos, while Taunt blocks recovery and hazard removal attempts from the likes of Corviknight. Whirlwind works well with Spikes and prevents setup attempts from Pokemon such as Dragonite and Earth Eater Gholdengo, while Protect allows Ting-Lu to gain additional Leftovers recovery and figure out what move opposing Choice item Pokemon like Chien-Pao, Walking Wake, Terrakion, and Zamazenta are going to use. Regenerator is the preferred ability on Ting-Lu, as it lacks reliable recovery, while Magic Guard is a secondary option that lets it switch in more easily because it won't take hazard damage or poison damage from Toxic and Toxic Spikes, but Magic Guard should only be used if there is another Regenerator Pokemon on its team. Pecharunt greatly appreciates Ting-Lu's presence, thanks to Ting-Lu's ability to switch in on Pokemon such as Gholdengo and Iron Boulder; Ting-Lu also appreciates Pecharunt, since Pecharunt can check Pokemon that Ting-Lu tends to struggle against like Iron Hands and Zamazenta. Ting-Lu also has trouble with Spikes, so hazard removers such as Corviknight and Great Tusk are greatly appreciated. Special attackers like Primordial Sea Walking Wake and Primarina can easily switch in on Ting-Lu and greatly threaten it, so Pokemon such as Empoleon and Manaphy are appreciated to counter them.
