Pokémon Dreadnaw

Drednaw

Base Stats: 90/115/90/48/68/71
Abilities: Shell Armor, Strong Jaw, Swift Swim
Notable Moves:

Focus Energy: Other Move
: Swords Dance, Shell Smash
Shadow Punch: Physical Move
:
Stone edge, Liquidation, Earthquake Crunch

Pros:
-
It boost an incredible offensive typing especially with ferrothorn; the main stop to rain sweepers like Drednaw, being gone. Only Dondonzo and other really bulky physically defensive can take a hit comfortably when Drednaw is setup under rain with swords dance.
-Its good physical bulk lets it take weaker priority moves from pokemon trying to revenge kill it.
-With the addition of Terastal and new access to shell smash this gen it can also be a great sweeper on screens hyper offense.
Cons:
-
While its typing is great offensively, It leaves it weak to common types such as electric, fighting, ground, grass, which makes setting up swords dance or shell smash easier said than done.
-On shell smash sets in particular after the defense drop from the move, it leaves drednaw prone to being revenge killed by strong priority attackers such as Chien-Pao and Kingambit. Although, this problem can be mitigated with white herb somewhat.
-It is also prone to being worn down by entry hazards and life orb recoil.
-Finally, while Drednaw is a very capable sweeper it has trouble breaking past bulkier teams carrying pokemon like Unaware Dondonzo or Physical walls that can terastal to resist one or more of its stabs and KO it back.

Terastral Potential: Drednaw can now terastral dark to boost crunch even further on strong jaw sets with shell smash; making it a very powerful sweeper when it gets the opportunity to setup. In Rain, Drednaw can choose to terastral rock or water to give either one of its STABs an even bigger power boost or boost one of its coverage options by terastaling to their respective type. For example it could terastal ground to break past toxapex.

Description: Some good partners for the swift swim set is Pelipper to set the rain and a special wallbreaker like Magnezone that can also take advantage of the rain and also has the added benefit of trapping Corviknight and other Bulky Steel types. Shell Smash Drednaw appreciates screens from Grimmsnarl and hazards from pokemon such as Garchomp and Ting Lu. Drednaw also likes special wallbreakers like ghouldengo that can take advantage of passive physical walls like dondonzo that can prevent Drednaw from sweeping.

Drednaw absolutely needs a lot of team support to be effective. It should be paired up with Cyclizar or screens/Memento since due to all of its weaknesses, it can be challenging to find a opportunity to set up. Also with base 74 speed, it's better to run a Jolly Nature to outspeed threats such Scarf Chomp/Iron Vaillant at +2.
