This thing can outspeed both members of the core with its STAB moves, pretty self-explanatory. Although it has to be wary of switching into Keldeo because specs secret sword does a load and it also hates being scald burnt because this is a physical set. Also, zen headbutt misses vs keldeo really suck, but that's just how the cookie crumbles when using this thing because of its subpar physical bulk.

Scarf Jirachi is an annoying, to put it most accurately, Pokemon for this core to face, thanks to its Speed and flinching abilities.

Regarding Alakazam, Jirachi is capable of OHKOing it with U-turn 68.8% of the time (assuming no prior damage); however, if it's desired for Jirachi to stay in, as is the case often, Iron Head is capable of OHKOing if Zam is at 96% or less, and will always do so if it's at 81.2% or less. And if Iron Head doesn't KO when necessary, 60% of the time it won't even matter thanks to its flinch rate, which is what makes Rachi so evil. Defensively, Jirachi can super easily come in on a Psychic or an Encore, and can take a Focus Blast (does ≈60%) or a Shadow Ball (does ≈80%) if absolutely necessary, but the latter scenarios should be avoided so Rachi can switch into other mons like Latios.

Now for Keldeo, Jirachi's handling it is a bit more luck based, but the odds are still in Jirachi's favor. Heart Stamp 2HKOs Keldeo 100% of the time, and Jirachi is OHKOed by Keldeo 0% of the time (assuming no prior damage, which certainly isn't always possible though) meaning if Jirachi is given a free switch into Keldeo it'll always win, barring crits. Heart Stamp's flinching ability, of course, makes this easier, making it so that Keldeo can only, again if Jirachi is given a free switch, attack Jirachi after its first Heart Stamp 40% of the time. Now, if Jirachi isn't given a free switch, it is still capable of winning 1v1 by virtue of flinch hax (but it is a more shaky check). Secret Sword never does more than 71.5%, Scald never does more than 67.7%, and Hydro Pump never does more than 92.6%, so even when considering Stealth Rock Jirachi can always hypothetically switch into Keldeo, avoid a burn, flinch with Heart Stamp (only needed if Keldeo hasn't switched into anything; if it's already been used as a check to Bisharp, Tyranitar, or something else, then the flinch isn't necessary), and win.

Basically, when assuming previous damage on both Pokemon, which is super fair considering Keldeo is often used to check dark types, Jirachi can check both Pokemon in the core without relying on hax. But, when the situation is more dire, Jirachi can and often will pull through thanks to its flinching moves. And if it doesn't the first time, it still has the bulk to take a Hydro Pump from Keldeo or a Shadow Ball from Alakazam and try again.

Mega Zam can CM on both Keld and LO Zam pretty freely, avoiding the KO from Hydro Pump and Shadow Ball respectively and proceed to OHKO both of them.

I want to underline that Shedinja has a good match up towards these monsters with no hazards on the field.

If Alakazam is running Psyshock over Psychic, you have a slightly under 50% chance to be 2HKO'd without Rocks on the field. But, the given set doesn't use Psyshock (why not, out of curiosity?), so that's not really an issue in this case, but something to keep in mind.

You freely switch in on Hydro Pump and Scald, but good Keldeo players will exploit this and nail you with the Secret Sword on the switch.

You win the 1v1. You can even continue to Curse up and Recover to keep setting up, but that's somewhat dependent on rolls. Still, being able to switch into Scald/Hydro Pump from Specs Keldeo, which is often the safest play since both of those moves are very spammable, means that if you predict well, you can lose no momentum and start to set up.

Given that you can't win the 1v1 versus Specs Keldeo locked into Secret Sword, Curse Gastro unboosted is a check at best, so this set only counters Alakazam. However, being immune or taking almost no damage from 3/4 of Specs Keldeo's options is very helpful.
 
But, the given set doesn't use Psyshock (why not, out of curiosity?)

Zam should be able to break some common walls like hippowdon/Garchomp and it wont be able to if it runs psyshock.

e/: but feel free to use psyshock on ur own team, its not a big difference. Psyshock hits Tornadus harder instead.
 
Awesome activity, everyone! The period to submit threats is now over, and discussion on partners may now begin. 4 days for this as usual.
 
Threats list:
Aerodactyl: if Stone Edge hits, we'll lose. Otherwise, WoW makes us the winners and this means it can't switch into Rotom-H.
Volcarona: at +6 Fire Blast OHKOes Rotom and a +6 Bug Buzz has a chance to OHKO and Rotom-H can't do almost nothing. If you predict the Volcarona switch-in, just Volt Switch in that Bug leaving 1/5 of its health. It is a counter for Rotom.
Mega Alakazam: it is impossible to win even with SR because outspeeds Rotom, but takes a good chunk from Overheat and MegaZam is so frail that a priority is enough to complete this work. This Mega can't switch freely into the microwave oven.

AV Azumarill: although this pixie has a type advantage towards us, WoW cripples it for the rest of the match and, then, we can use Pain Split and/or Volt-Switching into something which can complete the job.
AV Tornadus-T: can't do nothing to us while we can burn it in order to stack residual damage, thus lowering the recovery provided by Regenerator (33% - 12% = 21 %). If coupled with SR, Regenerator isn't enough to keep Tornadus-T alive.
Excadrill: WoW makes Rock Slide a 3HKO instead of a 2HKO, while Pain Split heals off the damage.
Shedinja: WoW bypasses Focus Sash.
Mega Metagross: WoW affects this monster with Clear Body.
Noivern: tank a Draco Meteor (while clicking Pain Split) is the key to win. Focus Blast 3HKOes if hits. Just keep Rotom-H at high health (=have the HP to stomach a Draco Meteor and still be alive).
Gastrodon: I don't think Gastrodon is really a counter to both Keldeo and Alakazam 1 vs 1 with no prior boosts, but Rotom-H simply burns it ruining Earthquake and tanking with Pain Split is a possibility.
Talonflame: Volt Switch does a lot, but it doesn't OHKO the Smogon Bird. In return Rotom-H is not OHKOed by +6 Sharp Beak Brave Bird which has a recoil + Volt Switch = almost guaranteed OHKO. It's tricky and Rotom has to be at high health (at 90,8% HP to be sure to tank a +6 hit).
Jirachi: WoW as fast as possible, then win between Pain Split and stalling.
AV Tangrowth: Rotom outspeeds and WoW the Grass type in order to win.
Scarf physical Hoopa: it can only 3HKO Rotom-H and, if you burn it, you'll win. P.S. Removing Psychic for Zen Headbutt makes no sense with all this status spam.

Here we have the microwave oven, which is criminally underrated in OU being overshadowed by it Electric / Water form. Despite it isn't the cleaner you'd expect, it provides good defensive synergy with Keldeo (resisting Grass, Electric and Fairy, for example) and slow U-turns in order to put your frail attackers into play without taking damage. All this happens after having ruined many physical attacker with WoW.

Rotom-H requires hazards control on our side and SR up on the opponen't field because it wears down many of its checks (i.e. Talonflame with SD).

One important thing about Rotom-H is that, despite being weak to SR, it can't be burned, thus having good switch-ins towards many staus spammers.

===> The washing machine can be generally better not being weak to Water+Rock, but the microwave oven has much more defensive synergy with Keldeo:
Rotom-H: resists Grass, Electric (and Bug: it tanks VoltTurn strategies better) and Fairy
Keldeo: resists Rock and Water

Team's weak to Jirachi, Metagross, Azumarill, and Tornadus. While Mega Scizor isn't a perfect answer to Tornadus, it can wall the others and KO them. It can also revenge kill other threats after a Swords Dance, such as other Alakazam and Noivern. I picked Knock Off so it could beat Shedinja as well as being able to hit Jirachi harder and remove items off of things like Heatran on the switch, but U-Turn is an option to gain momentum.

Doesn't help you with bulky waters, but still makes for a decent partner.

Anyway, Volcarona can easily defeat foes like Tangrowth, Amoonguss, Gastrodon and Jirachi with its STABs or coverage move. After a Quiver Dance, Volcarona can outpace Mega Alakazam and Scarf users to OHKO them. If using Volcarona, a way to handle Flying-types such as Talonflame, Torn-T and Mega Pinsir is mandatory.
 
Slightly over 24 hours until the submission period ends. A few more partners would be appreciated before then.
 
The top partners for this week are Rotom-W and Mega Scizor by Mentalist Swag and Viridi, respectively. The former was chosen for its ability to handle the likes of Talon and Torn, who are arguably the two major threats to the core. In addition to handling them, Rotom-W helps the core with other threats like Azu, Jira, Exca, and Aero. Mega Sciz also handles a good deal of the threats mentioned, such as Azu, Mega Aero, Hoopa-U, Mega Altaria, and so on. Both of these partners are also able to provide free switch in opportunities to Alakazam and Keld, which is always appreciated by offensive Pokemon like them.

Other potential partners for this core include Mega Manectric, Tyranitar, Gliiscor, Thundurus-I, and Heatran. These Pokemon are all able to cover a number of troubling threats while providing other benefits to the core (i.e. Tar traps Pokemon like Latios for Keldeo). One major thing these partners all do is check Talonflame, who is essential to cover when using Alakazam + Keld.

This week we are doing a core with 3 Pokemon, as we haven't done one yet! This means we will only be discussing threats for four days.

NOTE: Feel free to mention threats that give this core a hard time when Suicune isn't running one of Roar or Sleep Talk. This is because depending on whether Suicune is using Roar or Sleep Talk, several threats can becoming much more threatening.

The cores we've had so far have all been relatively offensive, so here is a more defensively inclined one around Suicune, who has yet to make an appearance in either Core Analysis thread. Suicune is an often overlooked threat, and is definietly a Pokemon that can be hard to stop once it gets going. Like every Pokemon though, there are still a number of Pokemon capable of giving Suicune a hard time. This is where the other core members come in to help patch up its primary issues with grass and electric types. Mega Latias, who has been a popular Pokemon lately, is a good check to several troublesome Pokemon for Suicune, like Breloom, Thundurus-I, and Mega Manectric. The speed control Mega Latias provides to an otherwise slow core is also helpful to keep a few powerful offensive threats from running wild. Heatran rounds the core off by providing a solid answer to Serperior, Ferrothorn, and dragons like Latios, who would otherwise be problematic. Together, these three cover a good range of threats between their resistances and bulk, all without being too passive.

To reiterate: because this is a core with 3 Pokemon, we will only be discussing threats. This period will run for 4 days. Go nuts!

Unless Suicune has already boosted up, CM Raikou can beat it, as the best thing Cune can do is Roar or try to CM up. As for Mega Lati, Raikou cannot be paralyzed and Ice beam cannot break a sub at +1. Sub is also slashed with Shadow Ball to deal with MLati easier. And since Heatran is running minimal SpD, +1 TBolt has a decent chance to 2HKO, while at +2 Tran's Lava Plume will never break the sub.

Four attacks Latios is a very threatening Pokemon and one people don't expect. This core falls on its knees in front of it. Due to Mega Latias's lack of max Speed investment, Latios outspeeds and easily OHKOs with Draco Meteor. Heatran really can't do much to Latios in the first place, making it a shaky check, even if it has the capability to live a single Earthquake from full health. Suicune is probably the biggest issue to Latios if it manages to boost up; however, the combination of Thunderbolt and Draco Meteor can OHKO it, even if it gets to +1 in between.

While Kyurem doesn't like to be paralyzed by Mega Latias or burned by Scald, it can still take on this core relatively effectively.
