At a Glance:

I adapted this team from a sample sun team with a combo of Charizard/Aerodactyl from the teambuilding frameworks page for doubles OU, which followed the framework of:

1 Charizard
2 Rock-type killers
1 Fire-type killer
2 Water-type killers
1 Dragon killer
2 Trick Room killers
1 Intimidate

I had originally been using kingofmars' team of charizard/aerodactyl/mamoswine/scrafty/rotom-w/venusaur, in which the tailwind/sky drop/wide guard support from aerodactyl was extremely useful, however it was short-lived because of its low defense, so i decided to try out rocky helmet cresselia which supplied speed control and boosted charizard's consistency by a mile, so it stuck.

After completing the original team following the framework (Charizard/Cresselia/Landorus-t/Rotom-wash/Sylveon/Aegislash), i found that the latter half of the team would work really well as a standard kangaskhan offense team, so i swapped out aegislash to kangaskhan to give me the option of kang offense, and i haven't looked back since.

In depth analysis:

charizard-mega-y.png

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 44 SpA / 20 SpD / 188 Spe
Modest Nature
- Heat Wave
- Overheat
- Solar Beam
- Protect

Standard bulky Charizard Y spread. It outspeeds all adamant Landorus-t (including scarf) after an icy wind. It also survives rock slides from garchomp/mamoswine as well as a double-edge from mega kangaskhan . It can survive a choice specs hydreigon draco meteor with the SpDef investment and the rest goes into SpA. A bulky spread gives me a longer time on the battlefield so that i can dish out a tonne of damage with heat wave and the 'KO Button' in overheat.

cresselia.png

Cresselia @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 220 HP / 172 Def / 4 SpA / 92 SpD / 20 Spe
Calm Nature
- Psyshock
- Icy Wind
- Helping Hand
- Moonlight

To be honest i shamelessly stole Level51's Cress EV spread, as it could do everything i wanted it to do, like surviving 3 LO talonflame brave birds, outspeeding rotom-w by one point and surviving stuff like knock off from bisharp etc. Icy wind+Helping Hand is an incredible consistency booster for charizard and rocky helmet+moonlight is a nice way of keeping the momentum in my favour. what i would love to do next with the team is change this spread to a trick room variant of cresselia so that i have the option of semi trick room with the kang offense half of the team and even with charizard. any suggestions for this are very welcome :)

landorus-therian.png

Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Superpower
- U-turn

Standard scarf landorus-t spread, does everything i need it to do. It's the rock/fire killer for charizard and fits nicely into the kangaskhan offense half of the team with fast offensive support with intimidate and rock slide. i know it's a pokemon that appears on every single team, but it is the best pokemon to fit in this slot imo. the spread is pretty simple, so if anyone has alternative spreads for landorus they would be appreciated :)

rotom-wash.png

Rotom-Wash @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 28 Def / 76 SpA / 148 SpD / 4 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect

Rotom-wash fits well into both sun and kang offense modes, and it acts as the secondary rock/fire killer for sun as well as an amazing water type counter in sun. The EV spread is pretty standard, it survives a modest charizard y solarbeam and OHKO's standard talonflame with thunderbolt. rotom-wash is imo one of the most crucial members of any sun team, as it improves the match up versus heatran, terrakion, landorus-t, talonflame, and many more of the biggest threats to charizard.

sylveon.png

Sylveon @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 236 HP / 172 Def / 80 SpA / 8 SpD / 12 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Helping Hand
- Protect

This spread is another 'borrowed' spread from Sweeper just because it's so good, and it does a LOT of work versus dragon types in (and out of) sun as well as terrakion etc, and improves the heatran matchup with HP ground so that it is a better partner for charizard.

Some damage calcs:
  • 252 Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 236 HP / 172 Def Sylveon: 169-200 (84.5 – 100%) — 0.4% chance to OHKO
  • 252+ Atk Bisharp Iron Head vs. 236 HP / 172 Def Sylveon: 164-194 (82 – 97%) — guaranteed 2HKO
  • 252+ Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 236 HP / 172 Def Sylveon: 84-100 (42 – 50%) — 0.4% chance to 2HKO
  • 252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Overheat vs. 236 HP / 8 SpD Sylveon in Sun: 169-199 (84.5 – 99.5%) — guaranteed 2HKO
  • 44+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Heat Wave vs. 236 HP / 8 SpD Sylveon in Sun: 81-96 (40.5 – 48%) — guaranteed 3HKO
  • 252+ SpA Life Orb Aegislash-Blade Flash Cannon vs. 236 HP / 8 SpD Sylveon: 174-205 (87 – 102.5%) — 12.5% chance to OHKO
Helping hand is a nice move with all that spread damage being done from charizard/landorus-t, and is usually a last resort move before it dies so that charizard/landorus/kangaskhan can get off a HH boosted heat wave/rock slide/return in the same turn.

kangaskhan-mega.png

Kangaskhan @ Kangaskhanite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Return
- Sucker Punch
- Power-Up Punch

The set is really standard but it does its job well. Imo return is preferable over double-edge because of the lack of recoil damage, and power-up punch is there over low kick because the team already has a lot of ways of handling heatran already. if the team does go Semi-TR, i would love a suggestion for a kangaskhan spread, especially bulky inner focus kang :)

Lead Options:

charizard-mega-y.png
cresselia.png

Charizard+Cresselia is one of my favourite lead combos of all time, as it offers so much, and can function with the rest of the team (bar kangaskhan) very well. this combo usually leads well versus rain teams and most opposing standard kangaskhan offense. turn one is usually protect + icy wind, usually followed up by a HH boosted heat wave or whatever is the safest play to do on the following turn.

charizard-mega-y.png
landorus-therian.png

Ahhh... My bread 'n' butter combo. The epitome of spread attack offense. A fast rock slide/earthquake plus a sun boosted heat wave usually secures a fast 4-2. this is probably my most common lead in the team, and for good reason.

kangaskhan-mega.png
sylveon.png

Kangaskhan+Sylveon cheese. this is my go to option if i see that sun doesn't have a good matchup vs the opposing team. my back two are usually Landorus-t/Rotom-w, who can support this lead very well, with Intimidate, Will-o-wisps and fast Rock Slides flying about the battlefield. Turn one is usually Fake out + Hyper Voice, followed by hyper voice + return/sucker punch spam. This lead is probably my best lead against trick room, as both attackers do quite well under the conditions.

landorus-therian.png
rotom-wash.png

This combo i like to use especially against physically orientated teams without bisharp, as Intimidate+Rock slide/Will-O-Wisp gives the opponent a hard time. Landorus-t plus Rotom-wash is one of my favourite cores to use besides hydreigon/aegislash because of its excellent synergy with offensive teams.

kangaskhan-mega.png
rotom-wash.png

This is my lead against bisharp-centric teams, as both kang and rotom-wash can hit/hinder bisharp, and without these mons, bisharp has a very nice time versus the rest of my team (bar charizard).

Threats:

metagross-mega.png
hydreigon.png
landorus-therian.png

Mega-Metagross & friends destroy this team...
I can only hope that my opponent will make a bad play and that i bring the right mons to the field. this is also one of the reasons why i would LOVE a semi-trick room option.

This team has been created on Pokemon Y, and atm i dont have an inner focus kangaskhan or HP ground sylveon, so if anybody has one (it doesnt matter if it has rubbish IVs) it would be greatly appreciated, and on offer, i have a Timid 6IV Lv 100 fully EV trained shiny hydreigon holding an ability capsule :)

Also if anyone has a modest xerneas with decent IVs, i would love to have one, i have been searching for one this past year with no luck, as i haven't got pokemon x :(
