Arena: The Kitchen

You know, the place where the microwave oven (Fire), fridge (Ice), and (sometimes) fan (Flying) are? Yeah that place! It's kinda squishy in terms of area, so dodging is out of the question. You can technically "Surf" here as there's a water faucet, but you might make the arena a bit messy. Parts of the roof is broken so you can use weather if you'd like to (and the window is open too). In general, there isn't really any move restrictions.

Welcome to today's battle between Flora and jas the 61292nd. Today's match started because he insulted Flora's cooking, so she turned around and ordered Laurel, her Rotom, to teach him what charbroiled REALLY is. No sooner had Rotom taken over the oven, than jas sent out Blaster, his Porygon2. The battle is about to begin, will anything be left of or in the kitchen when it is over?

Rotom (Laurel)
Nature: Modest (+SpA | -Atk)

Ghost: Ghost STAB; brief intangibility that nullifies Normal and Fighting-type attacks. Can move through walls for a brief period of time but must remain in motion. Superior senses in low light and inside dark buildings. Have no vision reduction in hazes.
Electric: Electric STAB; 50% reduction in paralysis chance from other electrical attacks, perfect accuracy and 30% chance of Protect breaking Thunder during Rain. Superior senses in power plant environments.

Ability:
Levitate: (Innate) This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading Ground moves like Bulldoze, Dig, Earthquake, and Magnitude. Other Ground moves can still hit. Levitate Pokemon will retain the Levitate trait when they use Skill Swap on an enemy, and will steal the opponent's ability (the user can specify if they want a foe or ally to gain Levitate from a Skill Swap.) If a Pokemon with Levitate uses Role Play, they will copy the opponent's abilities and retain Levitate.

Abilities:
Trace: (Can be activated) This Pokemon can copy an ability of the opponent and replace Trace for six (6) actions. Wonder Guard cannot be Traced.
Download: (Innate) At the beginning of the match, the Pokemon analyzes the opponent and downloads data that lets it deal more damage. This Pokemon receives a one (1) stage increase on the offense that strikes an opponent’s weaker defense stat. (e.g. does more damage with special attacks when facing Aggron, which has higher defense, and attack when facing Hypno, which has higher special defense. For ties, Attack is raised.) This boost is maintained at the end of each round.

Flora's orders!

My orders? Well okay.

Laurel, prep up! Let jas's insults be gone!

Light Screen - Charge - Thunderbolt
If Thunder Wave is used, use Substitute (20 HP) once and push the actions back

Umm... OK.

I was thinking of T-Waving, but that won't work I guess. So start with Shadow Ball, then Toxic it. Then Shadow Ball again.

Shadow Ball - Toxic - Shadow Ball

Also, I guess since I said 1 ability I have to choose, but both are fairly useless here. Well, lets choose Download, because it at least will do something.

And... insults... huh?

Sorry that this is so late.

Round 1:
The battle between Laurel and Blaster begins. Each trainer gives their orders. Laurel erects a Light Sreen around itself, just in the nick of time too, because a Shadow Ball smashes into it no sooner than it is up. Laughing at the small damage done, Laurel sits still and begins to Charge up energy, and also raises its Special Defence even more. Blaster resorts to residual damage and fires a giant wad of Toxic sludge that badly poisons Laurel. With an evil grim, Laurel fires a Thunderbolt which rips through the stove and sends Blaster into the cupboard smashing many glasses and plates. Out of the cupboard fly a couple more plates and glass shards, enveloped in a Shadow Ball, and they score a critical hit on Laurel! The pokemon now await a new set of orders from their trainers.

jas's actions!

Well, with those SpD buffs it will be hard to win with brute force. Luckily we already got Toxic in, so we can lay off the statuses for a while. Start by speeding up with Agility, then nail it with a Shadow Ball and a Ice Beam. Though if it gets into an appliance before you fire the beam, make it Hyper rather than Ice.

Agility - Shadow Ball - Ice Beam
If Rotom is in an appliance before Blaster's third action, use Hyper Beam instead of Ice Beam.

I've VMed AlphaJolt to lower my Thunderbolt damage so don't worry about that.

Anyway, let's take that Agility time to get a nice, sturdy Substitute (20 HP). Afterward, repel back with a shocking Thunderbolt and wrap things up with a Thunder Wave because it might be useful!

Round 2: Saved by a Sub
We're back in the battle folks. Each trainer belts out a few actions to their Pokemon. Laurel creates a 20 HP Substitute while Blaster uses Agility to boost his speed. He's now faster! Using this newfound speed, he fires a Shadow Ball, which does nothing as it is absorbed by the sub which smiles back. From behind, he is hit by a Thunderbolt from the ever-evasive Laurel. Nothing can stop Blaster though, and he fires another Ice Beam at the real Laurel. However, its no use, as dodging behind the old sub isn't hard at all. Tired of the speed boost, Laurel fires a Thunder Wave to slow Blaster down.

K, Laurel, we're actually not doing so bad despite the obvious HP gap. Keep the Thunderbolts raining then I think you need a break. I just wish I bought you Toxic though...

Thunderbolt - Rest (3a) - Sleep Talk (Charge, Light Screen, Thunderbolt, Chill)

edit:

(Porygon2's Shadow Ball)
(8 - 5 + 3 + (5 - 3) x 1.5) x 1.5 - (1 x 1.5) = 12 Damage (6 Energy)

Oops, didn't see this. Where did the +3 come from? There wasn't a crit this round, right?

Hmm.... haven't had to face Rest before. Curing Toxic is annoying, buI think we can take advantage of its nap. Start out with a Shadow Ball to break what is left of its Sub. Then take match its rest with some healing of your own. Finish with one more Shadow Ball. If you fail to Recover due to paralysis, spend your last action Recovering. However only do this if the sub is already broken. If you fail to move both of your first two actions, the shadow ball take priority.

Shadow Ball - Recover - Shadow Ball
If Blaster is fully paralyzed on action 2 but not on action 1, Recover on action 3.

Round 3: Avoiding Status Hazards
After listening to its trainers orders, Laurel fires a Thunderbolt at Blaster for some nice damage. The hit is returned with Shadow Ball, finally breaking the annoying Substitute. Laurel goes to sleep to cure its Toxic problem and start regaining health. Taking advantage in the lull, Blaster also Recovers his HP. What's this? It appears Laurel is having a dream of some sort, and is now Sleep Talking in it! Whatever it is doing, it looks like its having a chill time. Blaster fires yet another Shadow Ball, this time for significant damage due to Charge not buffering the special defence anymore.

Energy is getting somewhat low. We need to fix that. Lets start off by chilling out. Then fire off a Shadow Ball and an Ice Beam. Sound good? Cool. Oh, and same thing as last Ice Beam, if it goes all appliance...y, Hyper Beam it instead.

Chill - Shadow Ball - Ice Beam
If Rotom is in appliance, Hyper Beam over Ice Beam

Heh, I don't think I can win this. 84 HP is too much. :(

Round 4:
Things are starting to look a little grim for Laurel. Flora Bites her lip in anticipation of the next stage of battle. Still asleep, and dreaming, Laurel uses Charge, boosting up more power. Feeling a bit tired out, Blaster decides to chill and get some energy back. The two Pokemon circle around each other, observing their movements. Laurel breaks the lull first and opens with a Thunderbolt, which sends so much electricity through Blaster's body that he's left helplessly paralyzed! Encouraged by this, Laurel uses Thunderbolt again. It is not as successful the second time, and Blaster fires back with an Ice Beam.

(Hmm, I should have higher HP actually. On the first action, Laurel should still be Resting, so it gains +12 HP on that action. Basically, the final result is a 52 HP Laurel. And also, Blaster should be at 10% paralysis due to the new paralysis mechanics, which lowers the % by 5 when fully paralyzed.)

Heh, you're making this closer than it's supposed to be, Laurel. With your energy like that, there's not much running for you. Still, I think... if Blaster doesn't manage to hax you to death, there's still light for us!

Chill - Thunderbolt - Volt Switch (I put Volt "Change" on my sheet on accident)

I really want to get into Rotom-H, but I need every action I can get!

(edit: also, label Charge! ^_^ edit: wait, oops, I meant to VM, not edit...)

OK, so I am a little hazy on how volt switch works, it seems from the description that the Pokemon flies away after the hit, but that does not mean it evades attacks (at least not without a specific order). So assuming that is correct, then lets just blast away some more. But if I am incorrect about how this works, then switch up your moves for optimizing power, and chill out on the third turn.

Shadow Ball - Ice Beam - Shadow Ball
If I am wrong though, and Volt Switch does have an evasive effect, then go Shadow Ball - Shadow Ball - Chill

I'm looking for a sub ref for you guys cause I'm on vacation atm and only have limited Internet. Sorry I couldn't finish it up.
