G'day, unless you're an Australian, wait until the thread has finished...I'm not saying mate...Oh, wait, I just did...Also, sorry for the week delay, you should know what happened

Anyways, welcome to this 1v1 Battle between Lapras & Purugly Athenodoros & Rittercat. Here are the two posts...
Also looking for a 1v1 duel.
2 Day DQ
2 Recovers / 5 Chills
Rules, since Rittercat didn't mention it...
Switch=(Word)
Abilities=All
Items=No

Arena: Dragon's Den. A predominately water based arena with a Shrine in the centre.
My Additions, just to spice things up: Each Round, there's a 50% chance of a Dratini appearing. 85% are the common ones, & the other 15% are rare ones. If you hit one by accident they will strike back, depending on the rarity...
The common Dratini will bite back with a Dragon Rage at the Attacker.
The rare Dratini will bite back with an ExtremeSpeed at the Attacker.
That's all.

Now the order of operations:
1. Rittercat sends out a Pokemon & issues actions
2. Athenodoros issues actions
3. I do nothing until someone VM's me to update
4. Athenodoros issues actions
5. Rittercat issues actions
6. I (Words) ref
7. Repeat from Step 1 until a winner is decided.

Since Athenodoros sent me one Pokemon & Rittercat sent out more, I'll release Atheno's Pokemon for him. Go, Astreaa ((Staryu) Or however it's spelt)!

Go Rittercat.

Go Ringo the Deino!

First off, taunt Staryu to stop any nasty tricks. Then send out a pulse of darkness towards that starfish. Finally, crunch it.

Astraea, it looks like Ringo's in his element much more than we are here in Dragon's Den. However, I'm sure we can try attacking while he stops at the start. Begin by directing off all of the water around you and freeing it to pound Deino with an Ice Beam. Then, continue pounding it with another Ice Beam, to try to surround it with even more ice. Finally, use another Ice Beam to try to encase it in ice, to stop it being mobile enough to Crunch you at the end. The huge volume should at least slow him down.

Alright, welcome to Dragon's Den. I'm your host Its_A_Random, & the battlers are Australian users Athenodoros & Rittercat. Atheno is standing near the shrine as the seeker & Rittercat is on the ground over the over side of the lake. Athenodoros begins by sending out Astraea the Staryu who lands in the water, while Rittercat replies in return with a Deino, named Ringo, apparently, he's situated on planks of wood leading out onto the lake.

The round begins with...Oh no, a Wild Dratini has come, swimming long peacefully, unaware of the battle that's about to unfold. The two better pay respect to the Dratini...So Astraea becomes already sick of the water around it & decides to fire off an Ice Beam at the water, freezing the water around it before hitting Ringo with a cold energy that hits him at a temperature so cold that it turns him into an Ice Cube, not only that, but Astraea has appeared to have frozen the lake that surrounded the Den! Talk about lack of respect for the dragons...To rub salt into the injury, the Ice Beam has hit the poor Dratini, & Dratini rightfully bites back with a Dragon Rage at the disrespectful Astraea. Justice has been served. Unfortunately for Ringo, he could only stand there, frozen & no hope of carrying through the Taunt.

Astraea continues with its lack of respect, hitting the poor Deino with another Ice Beam. It seems to pierce the Deino, doing a number & makes the Ice surrounding the Deino even bigger, but the Frozen Ice seems to look rather brittle now, luckily, Dratini wasn't hit by this as the Dratini continues to slide across & even try to shatter the Ice, but to no avail. Ringo then tries to fire off a Dark Pulse in an attempt to break free of the Ice, but he's unsuccessful, but there appear to be cracks in the ice now! Keep going Ringo.

Astraea fires off yet another Ice Beam to try & further encase the Deino in Ice, instead it hits through the crack & hits Ringo, doing more damage, but this time, it creates a hole in the ice. This is not supposed to happen! The weakened Deino sees this hole, bashes it with his head, & he's free! Ringo charges across the frozen lake, slipping into Astraea, & hitting it with a Crunch! Astraea is now cursing those Ice Beams, & thinks it needs to control the power of them. If only...

The two are on the frozen lake, about 50cm apart, & near the shrine. The Frozen Lake now has a few cracks in it, after the Wild Dratini managed to bash a hole in the lake & has now disappeared. The two now await their actions.

Athenodoros, you're next. Also, RNG seems to hate both of you at the moment. Also, apologies for any errors I've made.

Well if a man whose avatar is a Gliscor thinks we need to stop throwing around Ice Beams, it must be true! [/SARCASM]

Anyway, well need to stop mindlessly blasting everything for a bit... after one more Ice Beam. It is at point blank range, and so can't possibly miss (?). It should push him back to give you a bit more time to maneouvre, and let you move up to the top of the Shrine in the centre of the den. From there, let your light really shine by activating Illuminate for a bit of show, and so you can add a bit of lighting to your next moves. Then, if you aren't taunted, take in the arena behind you and begin to develop a Camouflage so that Deino can't really see you properly. If you are, then direct the icy water towards Deino in a Hydro Pump, to try to keep pounding it with the cold that it doesn't like. Finally, use Recover on top of the Shrine if you still aren't Taunted, and if you are then just direct another Ice Beam at him. Hopefully your rage which was the result of the taunt will keep your aim true.

His avatar is a Gligar actually =P [/PEDANTIC]

So Ringo, he wants to Exploit our Ice weakness? Well we're having none of that! Protect yourself from the Ice Beam, then Taunt it. Finally, Protect against the Ice Beam again.

The battle begins at close quarters & sensing danger, Ringo decides to Protect himself. An aura surrounds Ringo a split second before Astraea strikes with Ice Beam. The beam reflects off the barrier & spreads in all directions, repairing the cracks in the Frozen Lake & hitting Astraea for a number.

Astraea is not too impressed & thinks that Ringo is too close to it, so Astraea dazzles Ringo for a few seconds with Illuminate. Astraea then jumps on top of the shrine & decides to Camouflage into the surroundings. Ringo, not happy about the dazzling, replies by yelling out some obviously racist insults in Pokemon Language, offending Astraea & enraging it into attacking. That Taunt wasn't nice...

So Astraea, still hidden from Ringo, fires off an Ice Beam, hoping Ringo wouldn't notice. Ringo has other ideas however, catching the Ice Beam in the corner of his eye & replies with Protect, reflecting the Ice Beam across the place, luckily, Astraea dodges the reflection & dances on the top of the shrine. The impact of the Ice Beam however, results in Ringo being moved across the Ice & into a rock, doing no real damage.

The two are situated 20 metres apart from each other, Deino beside a Rock on the Frozen Lake, while Astraea is apparently on the shrine, though its difficult to make out. The two now await their actions for Round 3.

Rittercat, you're next.

OK Ringo, if it tries to Ice Beam you then Protect. If you can't protect when it Ice Beams you, then take it as you Crunch. If it doesn't use Ice Beam, then Crunch it

Well Astraea, it looks like we might be in a bit of strife. If he just protects against Ice Beam and we can't really attack him in any other decent way, we'll have to just keep using it until he buckles under the pressue. So just keep using Ice Beam throughout, and try to keep up a continuous beam the whole time so it keeps digging away at one point in the wall and none can come back towards you. You should be safe from Dratini up on top of the Shrine and camouflaged at the same time, so we'll just have to hope.

The round begins with...Another Wild Dratini, who has bashed a hole in the frozen lake, created some cracks in the surface & is starting to slip along the rather brittle lake.

Nevertheless, Astraea starts by spamming Ice Beam from the top of the shrine. Ringo counters with Protect, & the Ice beam reflects off the barrier repairs the cracks in the surface, & fortunately, doesn't hit either Astraea or Dratini.

So Astraea decides to increase the pressure with another Ice Beam, Ringo's got to crack under pressure this time...Ringo decides to respond with the same old boring Protect, but he was too slow, the Ice Beam hits Ringo for a number, but he's also set slipping across the Ice, into the poor Dratini & hits another Rock 50 metres away from the rock he was initially near. The unhappy Dratini delivers a Dragon Rage at Ringo dealing predictable damage.

Now with Ringo further away, Astraea isn't really happy with the distance & fires off another Ice Beam. The distance gives Ringo ample time to Protect again, being successful & reflecting the Ice Beam around the arena. No one was hurt as the Wild Dratini bashes another hole in the frozen lake, creating more cracks in the Ice.

The two are 80 metres apart, Astraea unchanged in position & Ringo near the aforementioned Rock he hit. The two are now exhausted & look like they need to chill before long, but for Ringo, that's the least of his concerns, as it's his health that he needs to worry about. The two now await their next actions.

Athenodoros, you're next. Warnings to Rittercat & Athenodoros for low energy. Chill or lose the battle. Other than that, let's wrap up the battle. Also, a failed Protect still takes up an action btw.

Okay then Astraea, this round seem to be quite straightforward. You're looking quite tired, so Chill for a bit to start off with. Then, you can just go back to letting off two Ice Beams, to try to finish up this game. Try to go like last round, and don't let yourself be hit by keeping the pulse going. We should have this, Astraea!

Okay Ringo, I hope you can survive this round. If you can't then I'll let you know that you have done wonderfully in the course of battle. Chill while your opponent does the same. Then, Protect against the Ice Beam and try and angle the reflected ice into making a low ridge of protective ice to hide behind while you Tackle the ice beneath you and hide in the water.

If a Dratini comes and breaks a hole in the ice, then Protect while diving into the hole on the second turn. If that has been achieved then send a Dark Pulse through the water and hit Staryu through the ice.

The battle starts by both Pokemon calling a temporary ceasefire. The two decide to get some rest & have a couple of drinks for several minutes & getting some stress out of their systems. During the chill, the two get to know each other & do Pokemon things as Astraea's camouflage wears off. But then, Athenodoros & Rittercat get impatient & start yelling at the two to attack.

Ringo is terrified & slips his way into the hole in the lake, using Protect in the process, blocking Astraea's Ice Beam, & reflecting the beam all over the place. Unfortunately for Ringo, the Ice Beam repairs the cracks in the lake & the hole that Ringo went in has been sealed off, trapping him inside the water! Oh no!

Ringo, desperate to get out, fires off a Dark Pulse, creating a hole in the lake & Ringo jumps out of it, whew! As a bonus, the Dark Pulse also hit Astraea for a number. This, however, leaves him wide open to Astraea's Ice Beam, which it fires, squarely at Ringo & hitting him head on, the impact enough to KO Ringo. Astraea celebrates by dancing wildly, while Rittercat feels dejected, as he sends Ringo back into his Poke Ball. Next Time...

I noticed that Atheno tended to spam moves a lot, with 10 of his 12 Actions being Ice Beam. This is fairly costly in energy, but props for creativity, however. Rittercat on the other hand, tended to be fairly defensive in his actions, & in this ASB metagame, Offence is usually the best form of Defence, but also props to you for creativity. Well played, you two, a good match to ref & all. The battle was fairly played, each player having their fair share of bad luck, & good plays, but in the end, this was a good match imo. Here's to another rematch in the future.

That's all for this match & I do hope you enjoyed this battle. This is Its_A_Random, signing out.

Thanks guys, and gg Rittercat. And the reason I tended to spam Ice Beam was because essentially all of my other moves (barring Rapid Spin and stuff) are NVE. And thanks for reffing, Random.

Yeh I did kind of resist and have an immunity to your STABs. Anyway, gg and wp Atheno, it was an enjoyable battle. Random, loved the flavour, good reffing, quick responses, thanks.
