Freezing Fury-Part 1 2v2v2 Melee Battle Ref: Kaxtar

Status
Not open for further replies.
2v2v2 Melee
4 Day DQ Time
Max 3 Recovery Moves & 8 Chills per Pokemon
Arena: Mini-Gym Room
Summary: A 30*50*20 room covered in mats with specially designed attack-resistant windows and lights. The relatively large height means that anything less than 6 feet high can Fly in this arena, but it can't be used for evading attacks other than melee attacks from something that can't reach that height somehow. Dig also cannot be used-but other seismic moves can be, the mini-gym is designed to handle it.
A special system allows weather to be used inside the mini-gym. Obviously, anything that cannot fit in the gym can't be used.

Switching=KO
NO Items
One Ability

Alright, the order will be Berserker, Omegaman, Tortfergatr for releasing pokemon, and then it will snake back for actions (tort can declare actions when releasing his pokemon). The next round, it will be Omegaman, Beserker, Tortferngatr for declaring actions, and then Beserker, Tortferngatr, Omegaman for declaring actions. The cycle will rinse and repeat after that. I will of course ref in between the rounds. Good Luck all, lets make this a good battle!

Standing in the front of the house, I think back at how lucky I was to be chosen to go look for Kyurem. I didn't really think that Kyurem was real, but I was low on cash, and knowing that this would be worth my time even if we only saw a huge empty hole, I jumped at the opportunity to join. Heading inside, I noticed that the door to the basement was wide open. Walking down the stairs, I was a bit surprised at what I saw.

It looked like the owner of the house had turned his basement into a gym of sorts, but not any normal gym. There seemed to be a system that allowed any kind of weather to be used in here, and it looked like it had been used recently. I suddenly heard a cough, and turning around, I spotted two people who could only be the guide and the other person coming along.

"Sorry for being late" I mumble, but neither seems to hear. Then the person who must be the guide spoke up and introduced himself as Victor "Freeze" Cumulite. He then asked us if we would like to have a little battle just before setting off. A bit annoyed at the delay, I agree to fight.

" Ok Eyes, this should be quick" I say as I release my Nohface. Eyes immeaditley notes the lack of shadow and gets annoyed, but determined to fight.

(Sorry for taking so long to post.)

It seemed I had arrived early, as the other member of our group had only just walked in. As I waited, I had been pondering exactly what led me to these circumstances. Unova was a long way away from my hometown back in Hoenn, and I wasn't particularly interested in Kyurem itself. I certainly didn't come all this way for the money. It was more of the fact that I was getting a chance to discover something new. I had always had ambitions to discover Pokemon that few have ever seen. The money was really more of a bonus. Getting paid to satisfy my curiosity? Best deal I had ever heard.

This "Freeze" who had invited us, asked for a battle before we left. Never one to turn down a friendly match, I agreed. The trainer opposite me sent out a Nohface. Neither of my Pokemon could do much against it, so I started to analyze our host.

By the arena and his nickname, I could tell that he was an Ice-type specialist. I hadn't had much experience with Ice-types back in the warm region of Hoenn, but I had a decent way to counter them.

"Alright Bastion," I said as I released the Munchlax from its Pokeball, "Nap time's over, we've got a battle to fight." I was counting on Bastion's Thick Fat to shield him from any icy onslaught. Bastion lazily readied himself for battle, and I turned to our host to see what Pokemon he would choose.

Observing the gathered trainers, Victor coolly entered.

"Alright, guys-my team is ready. I'm assuming you guys are?"

The looks of everyone else confirmed this was so. Munchlax gave a brief noise as if to say "yes."

"Alright, then-go, Flare!"

Numel came out of her Pokeball, quietly sitting, ready to hit both of the enemy attackers. An odd look appeared on Omegaman's face-something told him that he wasn't expecting the simple Numel.

"Flare's my wildcard-it's helpful against other candidates for Ice-type gym leadership. Use Heat Wave-Stockpile-then Heat Wave again."

The battle had started, and Ryuu Kageha was in the zone. Once a battle started, his analytic side took over. His habit of thinking over every possibility in a match and analyzing all of the factors had made him the strongest trainer in Petalburg besides Norman, and given him the nickname: The "Omegaman".

"Thick Fat protects Bastion from Fire-type attacks as well." I mused. "Nohface has far more to worry about than he does."

I decided to take this opportunity to set up. "Bastion," I commanded. "Set up a 20% Substitute, then use Odor Sleuth on Eyes. Finish up by using Stockpile."

Looking at the Numel, I knew that this fight wasn't going to be easy at all. Evene Eyes seemed to know this, giving me nervous glances. I quickly went through some scenarios in my head, and decided on the one with the least risk.

"Eyes, quickly Meteor Mash that Munchlax, then Yawn right at Numel, Meteor Mash Munchmax's Substitute"

Numel, the swiftest of the sluggish trio, begins this round with a universal heat wave, striking its other two competitors for decent and good damage. Munchlax doesn't care, however, and chooses to set up a Substitute, but can't get it off before Nohface uses a Meteor Mash.

Numel chooses to do something different by stockpiling energy instead of attack. Everyone else follows suit, with munchlax using a odor sleuth on nohface and nohface using a Yawn on numel.

To finish up, Numel uses another Heat Wave on its two foes, luckily scoring a critical hit on Nohface. Not disheartened, Nohface uses a Meteor mash on Munchlax's substitute, breaking it with the help of numel's attack. Not caring, Munchlax finishes up its round with a stockpile, raising its defenses for next round.

Again, sorry for the wait. Nohface is 2 feet from Munchlax, and Numel is ten feet away from Nohface and Munchlax. For the order of the next round, refer to the OP please.

(Sorry I took so long, I was gone for spring break.)

It seemed that setting up a Substitute didn't do much good, so I decided to go on the offensive.

"Bastion, use Brick Break on Eyes, then Body Slam on Flare. Then finish up with another Brick Break on Eyes to hopefully take it down."

I wasn't going to be the first to lose a Pokemon in this match, of that I was sure.

"Ugh, this match is going to shit for me" I mumble at my horrible luck. I knew it was going to be slightly better considering that Numel would fall asleep soon, but I knew Eyes would not be in good shape.

"Ok, Eyes, first, Shadow Sneak over to Numel to dodge any attack that Munchlax throws at you. next, Meteor Mash Munchlax, then Faint Attack to get away from Munchlax"

Well, this was mixed. On one hand Numel had full health, on the other hand she was feeling sleepy. Either way, he'd been training her to only sleep 1-3 turns rather than 2-6, so it wasn't that bad.

"Yawn at Munchlax-then use Earthquake to hit Munchlax again the moment you wake up! If you have time, use Flame Charge against Munchlax!"

Numel uses its last action before it falls asleep to Yawn Munchlax. However, because Numel is already so tired, its Yawn becomes even more potent, making Munchlax go to sleep in two turns instead of three. Numel then falls asleep, but only moderately so. Munchlax tries to Brick Break Eyes, but it dodges with a Shadow Sneak.

With Numel sleeping, Eyes gets to move first this action, and it meteor mashes Munchlax, knocking it back. It strikes it with the power of the cosmos, and it return, the heavens grant Eyes an attack boost! Munchlax then to gets over to Numel to body slam, dealing some pretty solid damage.

Eyes uses its final action, a faint attack, to run away from Munchlax . Munchlax tries to Brick Break, but it falls asleep (deeply) just at that time, preventing it from attack at all. Numel then wakes up, but it can only prepare for the next round; time's up for now!

Nice round guys. Please refer to the order in the OP for next round, good luck!

" Excellent, Munchlax is asleep, so he's no longer that much of a problem, but Numel is still here. I guess the only thing we can do is go down fighting Eyes. Just start hurling Meteor Mashes at Munchlax until you can't anymore."

It didn't exactly seem right to gang up on one Pokemon in a casual battle. Nohface already had Munchlax covered.

"Flare-unleash another Heat Wave, Flame Charge at Nohface, then practice your Yawn again!"

Tose Meteor Mashes were taking their toll. Bastion couldn't handle much more, and now he was asleep to boot. On the bright side, at least Numel didn't seem to see it as much of a threat anymore.

"Alright Bastion, Body Slam Flare. If you happen to wake up earlier, use Stockpile first."

Another week, another round... These trainers really need to step it up!

Our lovely fire camel begins the round with a Heat Wave, striking everyone in the arena. Unluckily for Munchlax, the searing heat manages to burn it. Even worse for Nohface, the heat wave deals critical damage; it just barely manages to hang on! In response, Nohface hits the poor burnt Munchlax with a Meteor mash, utilizing the power of the cosmos to do so. The energy sends Munchlax flying back, but it doesn't even look close to waking up.

Numel prepares to Flame charge Nohface in order to finish it off, but Nohface manages to hit Munchlax with a final Meteor mash before it succumbs to the flame charge, which also critically injured Nohface. We now have our first KO, and Munchlax doesn't look a whole lot better than the recently fainted Nohface. Munchlax does manage to wake up, however, giving it a small chance against the still-healthy Numel.

Numel dislikes his foes being awake; a fact we've learned throughout the course of this battle. Therefore, Numel attempts to put Munchlax asleep again with a yawn, but it will take a few turn for yawn to work its magic. Munchlax tries to avoid its fate of slumber by body slamming Numel. Even though it manages to deal lots of damage to numel, munchlax can't fight off the drowsiness; it's only a matter of time.

Numel got some insane hax this round, sorry guys. Munchlax and Numel are 3 feet apart. Omegaman sends out his Monohm (Zero), as this is the only other pokemon he sent to me. Tort, Omegaman, Berserker; this is the order of actions for next round. Good luck!

" This is getting rediculous" I say as I return Eyes to his Pokeball. "Thankfully, I brought along a little friend who can easily take on that stupid Numel. Come on out Zero, my Monohm!" Coming out of his ball, Zero's fur starts becoming electrically charged with Static electricity.

(I chose Static just to clearfiy)

Go Flare.

Monohm use Magnet Rise. Monohm use Magnet Rise. So let's just get this going.

"Alright-Flare, start things off with an Earthquake! Next-Flame Charge into Monohm, then unleash a Will O' Wisp at it!"

"So, this seems to be your last round Bastion. Body Slam Flare until you faint, and then you'll get a well-deserved rest."

Looking at the opponents, I see that Victor's Numel is still quite dlow despite the boost to his Numel's Speed, so I take the opportunity to get Zero into a good position.

"Zero, I need you to quickly Magnet Rise to dodge any Earthquakes coming from that Numel, then starts up a Rain Dance to further ruin it's attacking power, then fire a powerful Hydro Pump at Numel"

Monohm, our new arrival, is just itching to go out and kill (faint) some stuff. But unluckily for him, that simple Numel beat him to the punch. It wastes no time in getting the action going once more, and decides to start this new round off with an Earthquake, hurting Monohm and KOing Munchlax. It tried its best, but Munchlax just couldn't stand up to the onslaught of attacks. Not wanting to get damage by another earthquake again, Monohm uses a Magnet Rise to prevent the effects of future ground attacks.

Determined not to get beat out by Numel again, Monohm takes the initiative this round and rain dances. This natural sequence of movements triggers a downpour that doesn't look like it will stop any time soon. The rain also weakens Numel's ensuing Flame Charge, but it still connects and raises Numel's speed.

Faster once more, Numel launches a will-o-wisp at Monohm. Even with the rain and poor accuracy of will-o-wisp, monohm still gets burned, much to its dismay. It retaliation, it launches a Hydro Pump. Boosted by the power of the rain and the quad weakness of numel, this hydro pump deals massive damage. I don't think that numel can live through too many more of these!

Numel (Flare) (F)
Nature: Quiet
Type: Fire/Ground
Fire: Fire STAB; immune to burn, 50% reduction in freeze chance, emit a low glow in dark places, takes additional damage if active open flames are exposed to a water attack. Solarbeam has Energy Cost reduced by one (1).

Simple: (Innate) This Pokemon innately exaggerates the effect of stat boosts and drops to the point where they have double the effectiveness, but the same actual stage. (e.g. Swords Dance/Screech is still a 2 stage boost/drop but is calculated as 4 stages). Stat benefits/reductions still maximize at 6 effective stages.

Omegaman sends in his ralts; that's his last pokemon left. Numel is 25 feet from Monohm, it will rain for another 4 rounds, and the floor is covered with water (about half an inch). For next round, the order is Omegaman, Beserker, Tort. Good Luck everyone!

Try as he might, Bastion just couldn't take any more damage. I returned him to his pokeball to give him a nice long rest. Then I take the other pokeball from my belt, and throw it.

"Alright Shizuka, here we go! Set up a Light Screen to protect yourself, then use Calm Mind. We'll finish up by hitting Zero with Psychic!"

"Zero, we don't have many options at the moment, so just get rid of the Numel with Hydro Pump, then hurl a Thunderbolt at Ralts, then finish off with a Gale at Ralts"

Great job to trainer and Pokemon-

The Hydro Pump left little time for conscious thought-what I was thinking, however, was already thought of.

"Flame Charge out of the way- then Tackle Monohm to the ground, and channel the power of an Earthquake through it!"

Let's hope this worked...

Numel got pwned last round, and tries to avoid the same fate now by flame charging away from Monohm. However, Monohm aims true and blasts Numel out of the air with one decisive Hydro Pump. Hydro Pump, boosted by the rain, knocks numel out cold; the poor thing never stood a chance. Shizuka (which means "quiet" in Japanese) tries to avoid the same fate by setting up a wondrous wall of light to lessen the damage of any incoming special attacks.

Monohm, now less worried with numel out of the way, uses a Thunderbolt on Ralts. However, because it had to pass through the screen of light, the damage was reduced. Ralts further buffs its special defensive capabilities with a Calm mind. Feeling sufficiently defended, ralts prepares to go on the offensive.

Monohm pulls out all the stops a launches a Gale-force wind at Ralts. However, due to the light screen and Calm Mind, Gale's damage is reduced by a large margin, and there is nothing the Monohm can do about it. Luckily for Monohm, Gale severely confuses Ralts; this confusion also makes ralts hit itself instead of attacking Monohm. Hopefully Ralts can recover from this brutal onslaught next round.

Rain Dance lasts for another 3 rounds. Tort, I need you next pokemon. After that, the order for actions is Beserker, Tortferngatr, Omegaman. This has been a great battle so far guys, keep up the nice work. Finish strong everyone!

"Great job," I stated as I recalled Numel. "Go, Snover!"

At this point Snover began to wave his arms while an icy breeze coasted through the air, before a barrage of hailstones spawned from him. A box for trainer ski masks (to protect against harmful weather) opened up, but Victor didn't move towards it.

"Great job to you all-let's finish things off well. You've both shown worth so far, and so have your Pokemon."
