Alomomola

[Overview]

Alomomola, when first revealed, was thought to be Luvdisc's evolution. Thankfully, however, it turned out not to be. Alomomola is a brand new defensive threat packing an amazingly high HP stat and decent Defense, which makes it one of the best physical walls in the RU metagame, and also an excellent support Pokemon with Wish. Alomomola also has access to a wide movepool filled with support moves such as Wish, Light Screen and Rain Dance. Alomomola with Hydration and Rest can work very well on a rain team because it will get recovered completely with Rest and can wake up on the same turn thanks to Hydration. Unfortunately, Alomomola has pitiful offensive stats, not to mention its horrible Special Defense. However, if you are looking for a bulky Water-type to use on an RU team, you might want to consider using Alomomola.

[SET]
name: Support
move 1: Wish
move 2: Protect
move 3: Waterfall
move 4: Toxic
item: Leftovers
ability: Hydration
nature: Impish
evs: 36 HP / 252 Def / 220 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

With high HP, decent Defense, and access to a wide number of support moves, Alomomola becomes an excellent support Pokemon to use on any RU team. Wish is an excellent support move to use, and is also Alomomola's only reliable recovery move. Wish can both heal Alomomola and its teammates; this is especially beneficial since most teammate will easily recover over half of its HP thanks to Alomomola's high HP stat. Protect is used for two things: racking up more damage with Toxic, and allowing Alomomola to safely heal itself with Wish. Waterfall is a STAB move that can be used to hit Pokemon that are weak to it, and to rack up more damage against the opposition. Toxic is helpful for bringing down walls, and works well with Protect.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The EV spread maximizes Alomomola's Defense stat, allowing it to survive two Brave Birds from Life Orb Honchkrow with the help of Protect and Leftovers. This allows Alomomola to stall out Honchrow with Brave Bird recoil. The 220 EVs in Special Defense allow Alomomola to take special hits better. Leftovers is the preferred choice of item for Alomomola due to the recovery it provides. An Impish nature is used to increase Alomomola's overall physical walling capabilities, making it a very good counter to many physical threats.

As for teammates, Ferroseed is the best Pokemon for this role. Alomomola and Ferroseed work very well together; Alomomola can pass huge Wishes to Ferroseed while Ferroseed can take almost all super effective hits directed at Alomomola. Clerics such as Audino are also good teammates as they can heal any status condition that Alomomola might have. Toxic Spikes support, which can be provided by Pokemon such as Drapion, is very helpful for Alomomola. It makes toxic stalling opponents much easier for Alomomola and allows Alomomola to forego Toxic for another support move. Also, since Alomomola often attracts Grass-type attacks, Pokemon with Sap Sipper such as Bouffalant are good teammates, as they can get a free Attack boost. Lastly, Lanturn and Electivire are good teammates, as they can freely switch into any Electric-type attack aimed at Alomomola and get a free boost or regain health thanks to their abilities.

[Other Options]

Alomomola is certainly not restricted by lack of options . Pain Split is one of them, and can be used to recover health as well as inflict
damage. This is rather gimmicky and not a very effective option, however, because of Alomomola's high base HP. Healing Wish can be used to heal a teammate, but Wish is generally the better option as it does not faint Alomomola. Calm Mind is a viable option that can be used to increase Alomomola's Special Attack and Special Defense stats. Light Screen can be used to decrease the damage inflicted by special attacks, and can also be used to support one's team. Soak is another option, which can be used alongside Toxic, as it allows all Pokemon, including Poison- and Steel-types, to be poisoned by Toxic. A set consisting of Rain Dance, Hydration, and Rest can be used. Rest can recover Alomomola completely, and the combination of Rain Dance and Hydration will awaken Alomomola.

[Checks and Counters]

Alomomola is swiftly countered by strong special attackers, such as Sceptile and Rotom; they can easily OHKO Alomomola with a powerful STAB move Status is also problematic for Alomomola if it doesn't have cleric or Rain Dance support. Since most of Alomomola's moves are non-attacking, Taunt users can stop Alomomola from doing anything. Ferroseed is a notable counter that can take everything Alomomola has to offer and can retaliate with Toxic or Leech Seed. Water Absorb Poliwrath can also take anything Alomomola has in its arsenal, if it's behind a Substitute. It can also use Alomomola as set up fodder. Lastly, bulky Steel- and Poison-types can easily wall Alomomola.

[Dream World]

Through Dream World, Alomomola receives the ability Regenerator. It is an amazing ability that recovers 33% of its health upon every switch in. It is far superior to Alomomola's other abilities, and should be used once
released.

I think scald should get a slash over aqua jet (or maybe over waterfall) because the burn helps not just alomomola but it supports your team better by letting the wish recifer take the physical hit better (or give them a chance to take it). So I think you should consider it.

Even though 252 HP EVs isn't most efficient, I think it should be that to pass the largest wishes possible. After all, that is Luvdisc2's(to hell with spelling this) big selling point: massive wishes. You could just go 252 HP 252 Def in that case and not worry about its special defense, which is quite poor even with investment. Also, Light Screen can be mentioned somewhere to somewhat patch up this SDef.
@pie cream
The main issue is Scald could get in the way of a Toxic. Toxic is a better status to have on the opponent since Wish+protect stalls a Toxic'd foe pretty fast. Scald in OO with this catch would be best IMO

Eta: you have Galvantula in the soak set. Do you mean this 'mon?

[SET]
name: Hydration + Rest
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Rest
move 3: Rain Dance
move 4: Scald / Hydro Pump
item: Leftovers
ability: Hydration
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

A la Manaphy. Its special stats are heinously low, but it might be able to set up regardless.

Wish support should be the only set, and it needs some changes. Aqua Jet off uninvested base 75 Attack is nearly worthless. Those EVs also need work, Alomo wants some SpD investment. Sure its Wishes become a little smaller, but it's worth it to be able to take on things like Moltres fairly well.

[SET]
name: Support
move 1: Wish
move 2: Protect
move 3: Waterfall
move 4: Toxic
item: Leftovers
ability: Hydration
nature: Impish
evs: 16 HP / 252 Def / 240 SpD

Max defense and enough HP that LO Honchkrow's Brave Bird never 2HKOes when factoring in Leftovers + Protect. Everything else in SpD. Someone else might have a better spread, but this is a good starting point.

Soak and any other sets are strictly OO material.

i think rain dance deserves a mention in oo as it can set up for rain sweepers and heal them with healing wish or wish
also pain split is terrible for something with so much hp

Change the EVs to 36 HP / 252 Def / 220 SpD, which hits a lefties number and doesn't really damage your special bulk too much.

I'm sorry but I can't let this analysis go on site like this, it's not very detailed at all. Why don't you mention Toxic Spikes support from Scolipede, this set is designed to stall, and Toxic Spikes wear down the opponent. You should probably mention Electivire and Lanturn as partners who can switch into Electric-type moves, Sap Sipper Pokemon (Bouffalant + Sawsbuck) who can switch into Grass-type moves, and Flying-types too. You should probably mention Rest and Rain Dance in additional comments, as Hydration will wake it up and it has 100% recovery. It also prevents status crippling it. Also, Hydration should be mentioned in the Overview, why isn't it?

Your counters section is pretty poor, there are a lot more Pokemon who wall it. For example, Grass/Poison-types are immune to Toxic and they resist Waterfall, Ferroseed will wall anything it can do. Water Absorb Poliwrath can set up a Substitute before Alomomola can use Toxic on it. You should mention how Taunt will shut it down completely. Can you give some example Pokemon as well, just saying [x] is good doesn't cut it. Give examples of Pokemon who do it well, and why. For example 'Porygon-Z' will completely destroy Alomomola with its powerful special attacks'. Don't just copy and paste that, please think of some examples of your own, and add them throughout the analysis.

After implementing these changes, I'll have another look and see if it's ready to be checked and uploaded.

Thank you :)

Damn it...

I can't apologize enough for failing to complete my check. I fell asleep halfway through. Thanks for filling in ShakeItUp!
