DarthVader317 Vs. TheWolfe: Glacier Knight's No Man Land (Ref. Arcanite, tutor S_O_S)

Status
Not open for further replies.
Wind whistled through the trees... at least, it would if there were any trees left in this wastleland. The desolate plain was desserted, except for me, and two trainers. My trusty Arcanine, Firion, was looking grim, as was Sir Auron let lose a Dark pulse much stronger than usual, blasting a hole in a earthen trench. Sir. Auron, my Lucario. Obviously, the presence of horrible auras was making them suffer. The Air smelt fetid, as if carrion had been feasting. A Flock of Mandibuzz were flying away, obviously disturbed by the Dark Pulse, and the explosion it caused.
"Niiine...". Firion whined. It was unusual for him to be unsettled. The two trainers that had been sitting quietly on the other tranch embankment got up, and one walked oveer to the other trench.
"Hey, it looks like they're about to have a battle," I said to Firon and Sir. Auron, "Maybe we can pick up a few tricks."

Battle type:
1v1 Singles
DQ time: 3 days
Restrictions: 2 recovery moves, 5 chills, little water sources
Track: Metroid Prime 2: Agon Wastes
Arena: Glacier Knight's No Man Land

No Man’s Land: the only remnants of a war taking place on this lonely plane are craters from cannons and two hastily made trenches opposite of one another. This place is perfect for an intense brawl of epic proportions because unlike domes, gyms, or protected forests this place is dying to be torn apart again. There are no trees or grass, just mounds of dirt and dust, with some puddles here and there from past storms. The air is stale, and you can feel the tension that was strained here years ago. Yes, this already forgotten area is perfect for rough housing and playing dirty. Summary: Dig/earthquake is allowed. Weather is allowed.

~The long hike to the burnt out crater was probably no longer than 30 minutes but arduous trek made it feel like hours. Upon reaching the clearing where the battle took place, Chris could have sworn he felt a few years slip away. Perhaps he might lose more if he stayed too long. Although not sweltering by any means, the barren landscape fatigued him worse than he could imagine. His mind was figuring out what led him to this wasteland in the first place, let alone call out a challenger for a battle all the way out here. It would probably be wise to get this match over with as soon as possible, since it would not be a good idea to linger too long.

In light of all of this, Chris knew he had to give some life back into this barren land, even if only a little. He drew out a Pokeball from his belt and gave it a good kick releasing his Pokemon.~

Let's go Meliadoul the Grovyle!

253.png

Grovyle - Meliadoul (F)

Meliadoul: Grovyle!

Alright, let's go Shocker the Pikachu! Time for your first match since evolving.

Let's start things quickly Shocker, and use Fake Out. Then use Thunder Wave to get a speed advantage. End the round with a ThunderPunch. If Grovyle attempts to use Detect replace your action with Charge.

There isn't much you can do against a Fake Out, but if somehow you pull through advance with a Leaf Blade. Set up a Safeguard to block that Thunder Wave and any other nasty status coming your way and end by firing a Leech Seed.

----------------------------------------------

The Pokeballs open, and out comes a small yellow rodent with a Lightningbolt tail, called Shocker (a Pikachu) and a green lizard with a red belly, Meliadoul the Grovyle. Before you can blink, the Shocker dashes towards Meliadoul, and slaps her round the face (Fake Out). Meliadoul was obviously shocked, as she flinched! Shocker starts to charge up to release some electricity towards Meliadoul, but while Shocker is charging, Meliadoul makes a safeguarding green veil, preventing her from recieving status conditions for 5 rounds. When Shocker releases his Thunder wave, it bounces off the veil harmlessly! Meliadoul, obviously dislikes the area, so she decides to plant some Leeching seeds. Unfortunately, Shocker gets in the way, and he will now drain health for the next six actions! In retaliation, Shocker throws a ThunderPunch at Meliadoul, but it doesn't hurt much, as it is not very effective.

As the Fighting pauses, I ask My Lucario what he thinks. He replies:
"Obviously Grovyle got the best out of this turn, keeping himself protected from Paralysis for probably the whole battle. The Leech Seed may also help her a lot in the long run. However, Shocker still has it all to play for."

(Forgot to let you know, I'm a tutor ref, being tutored by Son_of_Shadoo, hopefully you didn't notice!)

EDIT: Accuracy was Wrong!

Quick question - why does Grovyle only have 12% accuracy boost instead of 18%? I did the calculations earlier when I evolved it from Treecko and it ended up being 18% rounded up.

In any case, let's keep up the performance!

Meliadoul, send a nasty barrage of Bullet Seeds at Shocker and then lunge in with your newly acquired Leaf Blade! End with another Bullet Seed barrage. The Safeguard should protect against the paralysis so there's no worry about Static taking effect.

If the foe uses Double Team, then release a Leer to destroy the fake images. The attack description says it can hit up to three targets. I don't know if it will removes those images or not but it is worth a shot!

Bullet Seed ~ Leaf Blade ~ Bullet Seed
Subs: Use Leer if the enemy uses Double Team until the real foe is hit.

Meliadoul: Grovyle!

Shocker, start by using Charge. The special defense boost should keep the second bullet seed from doing as much damage, and boost to electric attacks will help overcome Grovyle's resistance. Then use ThunderPunch, and end the round with Nasty Plot.

Round 2: "Chaaaaaarrrrge!"

As the fighting reccomences, Meliadoul fires a 5 rapid streams of Bullet Seeds at Shocker, stinging nastilly. Shocker Retaliates by Charging up for the next attacks, gaining +1 Special Defence and a +3 boost to it's attacks base power! Meliadoul then uses its leafy blades to slash at pikchu, grazing its belly. Once Meliadoul is up close, Shocer smashes it with a ThunderPunch! Meliadoul decides that Bullet seed was more effective, so tries again, but this time, only musters 2 streams of seeds. Shocker Realises that it's losing, and plots a nasy end for Meliadoul....

As the Fighting pauses, I ask My Lucario what he thinks. He replies:
"Hmph. Using Electric moves on a pure grass type? Not too good. Meliadoul certainly got lucky with its bullet seeds, and it almost looks healthier than it did at the start of this round!"

Pikachu -3x3 = -9HP

Edit: Calculations fixed!

You swapped Pikachu's attack (2) with Grovyle's defense (1) in the calcs for ThunderPunch, it should have done more damage.

Shocker, use Thunder, followed by a Thunderbolt, and then a second
Thunder. Those are your strongest attacks, even after considering the resistance grass has.

Speaking of swapped stats, my Grovyle's Defense and Special Attack are swapped. They're supposed to be 1 and 3 respectively.

Okay Meliadoul, we're looking good! You may resist Electric, but that Nasty Plot and Charge boosts are going to make those incoming blows hurt! At least we hit just as hard back!

Go in for a for another Leaf Blade and then unleash your devastating Leaf Storm! End with another Leech Seed!

The winner is TheWolfe and Meliadoul the Grovyle!

As the Fighting concludes, I ask My Lucario what he thinks. He replies:
