[Gen 5] Little Abuse (Rain RMT)

Hai Smogon! You may know me for my former Gen 4 teams that have Metagross fetishes and may have some gimmick thrown in. Well, now I've a new fetish - rain. I've never used rain in 4th Gen, but the appeal to using fast water types really appeals to me. I love Kingdra, I love Vappy, and I know a whole bunch of new guys I haven't used yet. However, with the advent of the banning of Drizzle + Swift Swim, I had to play another way. So while still learning the 5th Gen metagame, I kept seeing the same thing - sandstorm, dorry, and THOSE GODDAMN GENIES. With that being said, I decided to use rain as a way to get rid of sandstorm, while firing off 100% accurate thunder and hydro pump. Well, it started out as a weather changing team, and now its my rain abuse team. I don't feel I'm abusing enough though, any advice is appreciated. Without further ado, here's my team: Little Abuse

Little Abuse

So to start off, I wanted something underrated and unknown. Seeing only 2/3 of the genies (ground/flyer and blue electric guy) I did some research on the last one, Tornadus, the green genie. And well, well, this guy has a great niche in rain teams. So I chose him as my main special sweeper.

Spr_5b_641.png
Spr_5b_186_m_s.png

Now I need rain. Obligatory Politoed is obligatory. I understand that is does suck balls that you have to have to lose one member for him, but I've been able to play around and I really like him.

Spr_5b_454_m.png

Now rain teams fear 3 things - strong electric attacks, water attacks boosted in the rain, and Nattorei. To be honest, my server allows Drizzle + Swift Swim, so ludicolo is more of a threat, but I don't see him since everyone is a Natt whore. To cover Natt and water attacks, I chose Toxicroak. I do agree he's frail, but playing him right keeps his health at 80% + most of the time

To absorb electric attacks, I chose scarf chomp. Scarf chomp packs a HUGE punch and when Nattorei or whatever steel is gone, this guy RAPES the competition. I never was able to use him as I joined the 4th Gen metagame after his ban, but hey, now I know why, and he's great.

Now to be honest, my team does not abuse water type moves and thunder. I also lack a wall of sorts. In comes Specs Rotom. I love him due to the fact that he can take at least 5 hits before kicking the bucket. If I take his specs off, then I can pain split for more trolling.

Now I'm still missing a tank. In the rain, steels are supreme. The common ones - Zong, Skarm, Forry, and Natt lose their fire weakness. I chose natt because, well, he's natt, he's new, and spikes + SR = illegal = RAAAAAAGEEEE

More in Depth

Politoed
Drizzle
Calm
Leftovers
252 HP / 88 SpA / 168 SpD
- Scald
- Hypnosis
- Toxic
- Perish Song
This only DW poke I have lol. I love this little guy. I'm not sure where the spread came from, but the moveset if my own creation. "Triple" status Politoed is my main special tank. He tanks VERY well, and STAB Scald in the rain is like a free specs. Toxic to spread poison when they switch out after getting to put to sleep. Perish Song is there to stop any set up sweeper that expects free set up on Politoed. The lead mechanics have changed, but here's how he does if he's in the lead spot:
Skarmory - Most I see are specially defensive and run taunt. I lead with Tornadus
Deoxys-S - This bastard is real fast. Lead with Tornadus to scout his lead moveset.
Erufuun - Lead with Tornadus
Bronzong - Hypnosis to make him useless.
Nattorei - Any one of these guys gutsy enough to go against Politoed get put to sleep.
Baton Passers - Lead with Tornadus

Ferrothorn
Iron Barbs
Leftovers
Sassy
252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
-Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
To be honest, I'm more of a skarm guy. But this guy here is my main wall and tanks very well. I kinda EVd him due to take a 4HKO from Magnezone (3HKO if LO). He's really hard to kill and he also counters the dragons that run rampant in the metagame. I feel that his 2 STAB options are needed as well.

Spr_5b_454_m.png

Toxicroak
Dry Skin
Black Sludge
Adamant
244 HP / 252 Att / 12 Def
- Substitute
-Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch
This guy is my pseudo water absorber and main counter to Nattorei. I chose Sub Bulk up over SD due to croak's low speed. With this set, he becomes a great set up sweeper which allows him to set up on bulky waters and nattorei. Sub blocks Leech seed, or it give me a scouting option on bulky waters. I do agree he's frail, but I use him only to take water attacks, or when I feel he come in on some walls.
Spr_5b_479W.png

Rotom-W
Levitate
Choice Specs
Modest
248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 Spe
- Thunder
- Hydro Pump
- Pain Split
-Trick
8 Spe to outrun other defensive Rotoms. Trick to cripple Natt, and Pain split to recover HP. This guy abuse my rain soooooo much its not even funny. He's also got enough bulk to take any hit and generally respond with a KO. I thunder spam until a chomp comes in, the go to natt. Otherwise, after I see the chomp, I'll trick and proceed to heal, or ravage with my dual STABs. If Natt comes in, I go to croak

Spr_5b_445_m.png

Garchomp
Sand Veil
Choice Scarf
Jolly
8 HP / 252 Att / 248 Spe
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Fire Blast
To be honest, chomp is more of a two move man. I only toxic on the switch when they go to something else. Fire Blast is there for steels if my rain is gone, or not up yet. Otherwise, I Outrage spam to kill things late game. 248 Spe EVs due to Chomp's max speed being an odd number. So even without max speed, I can have slightly more bulk and still tie with jolly max scarfers. Stupid yes, but I like details. Also I can troll people by saying I'm not max speed

Spr_5b_641.png

Tornadus
Prankster
Life Orb
Timid
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Hurricane
- Focus Blast
- Grass Knot
- Taunt
I'm having trouble deciding the last move. HP Ice isn't needed as STAB Hurricane does more. and Grass Knot is only there for pert, the only guy who can live a Hurricane after SR. I run Taunt because it gains priority and stops faster leads from setting up. I love how powerful he is too. Hurricane and Focus Blast have near perfect coverage too. Generally, I can Hurricane spam (I think it 2HKO anything) so I'm guarranteed many kills.

Threats
NP Thunderous - I need scarf chomp to take this guy out. He sets up easily on my team and is usually guarranteed a kill.
Defensive / Offensive Zapdos - Coverage to the max. Generally I have to send in Nattorei and Leech Seed stall or change it up as Zapdos Roosts
Scrafy - No idea what this guy does or how to wall him. He's faster than croak, generally gets a kill. Maybe Natt walls him?

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed my first Gen 5 team. Its been a great success to me. Here's one last look:

I see in your team building section you say spikes+stealth rock=illegal when in fact it is not. You can breed both onto a ferroseed from a dwebble or crustle. Just a little nitpick if you do in fact want both. Although whenever i use ferrothron i use the set you do. I'd sugget just staying with that set because of leech seed recovery which is always nice.

Please change the names underneath Toad, because otherwise those are Japanese and the others are English, confusing this RMT. Thanks.
(EDIT: Wow, I didn't expect this to be this long actually. lol) Hmm.... Sorry, I still don't have much time to rate this to the extent where I would call it a good rate worth my standards; but, I feel bad not rating your team because you asked me to lol. So, i'll try to make this nice, short, and to the point.
Scrafty does destroy this team. Especially if he is a Dragon Dancing set. They usually run:
~DD
~Drain Punch
~Crunch
~Ice Punch

As you can see, Drain Punch destroys Toad, Thorn, Rotom, and Croak. Ice Punch takes care of Chomp and Tornadus. So, in a blink of an eye, he just swept your entire team in probably eleven turns or so (depending on when he switched in and all that jazz).

The only thing you can do is to switch in Chomp or Tornadus right when he comes in, and then OHKO with either Outrage or Hurricane. If you don't switch right away, and he is able to get off 2 DDs, then you are -sadly- swept.

Another big threat to your team that I see right off the bat is Starmie.
~Hydro Pump
~Psychic
~Ice Beam
~Thunderbolt/HP Fire
Doesn't really matter what the EVs and nature are, because as long as this offensive set is fast and tends to rape teams, it doesn't matter. Most sets -still to this day- in this ever-changing metagame are Timid Nature with max Speed and sp. Attack. This set can destroy everything on your team except Thorn (if the rain is up) and Chomp (if you sacrifice something and then allow Chomp to switch in freely). Although, who in the right mind would keep Starmie in on such counters. So, Starmie's usually come with something that has good synergy with it and counters Starmie's counters, allowing Starmie to sweep. A good teammate for Starmie is Ferrothorn or maybe Erufuun (can't think of the English name atm sorry), because they both cover him well, and they both can be annoyers/walls.
If the rain is not up, Ferrothorn dies to Starmie's HP Fire with your current EV spread. So, be careful with that. That EV spread is good in the rain, because of the less power of fire moves, allowing you to trade off and use some more physical bulk in this situation.

Your team's sets are good otherwise, besides Garchomp's nature. He should be running Adamant nature for that extra power. Unless you are using that to outspeed other ScarfChomps. When you say that you like to troll other people into saying that you are not max speed -and ik this isn't just me- that just sets off a red flare in your opponents head that you are lying. One other thing: you should be running Stone Edge over Toxic. This allows you to OHKO your pesky Thundurus problem :)

Anyways, a pretty good team besides the many common counters. I'd like to test it out and give you a better rate, but I really don't have the time sorry. Good luck, and I hope that this helped!~

I agree with this person on pretty much everything. The only thing i disagree on is how drain punch screws Toxicroak????It does not. Toxicroak is poison/fighting how does drain punch screw it?

Um, thanks for the necro post I guess. After further batting, I learned resist both of Scrafty's STAB's. If he's a DD variant, he'll attack me first, and I'll hit him with Drain Punch after which'll let me recovery my HP and damage him at the same time. Same story with the bulk up variants, but I'll sub down if they think my Drain Punches aren't doing enough.
