Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
The grass type can threaten the water type isn't really a compelling argument imo. Waterpon screws with every water type in the tier (hi it's me I still hate this thing) but just like those waters, you pair it with a Waterpon check to account for this. It's also weird to suggest it can't handle...
Starmie, Excadrill, Greninja, Floette-E, Chesnaught, Delphox, Skarmory
There’s plenty new megas that are viable. I’m not really understanding this at all.
I think Darkrai is strong overall, and specifically utility Darkrai, imo, is the way to go. Pure offensive sets have too many shaky match ups to be consistent (Zamazenta and Ting Lu chief among them of course). Utility sets on the other hand I find have a much easier time making progress. Tools...
Set up sweepers should have reasonable outs against them so they can’t just snowball and roll over teams. All the set up threats that have been banned from OU this gen have have that absurd snowball/sweep capability, and they also have had minimal counterplay. In fact let’s go through them...
If you’re going to accuse someone of this-
Maybe don’t make claims that are the same “ignorance” you accuse others of. Kyurem has been on a tear and been very successful in current SV OU. It never “fell off”.
People exploring new ideas like “Z Poltergeist Ceruledge” is considered fishy to...
No I’m not…? Weird how you latched onto any mention of HO when I also mentioned offense, which had jist as much capability to overwhelm teams. Even at the tail end of the tera meta, balance “existed” but was pushed into rigid structures in a feeble attempt to try and answer as many things as...
that does remind me to post finally
:Great-Tusk: A- -> B+
This one is more personal but I find this Mon to sometimes just be “OK”. There are games where it can get some good work done, but other times it just is underwhelming as a ground type that offers significantly less defensive utility...
building for the current metagame isn’t perfect, but it is much, much better than it was during the Tera era. It was so easy for offensive and hyper offensive teams to abuse and exploit the few Pokémon defensive teams used to try and hold things together that it made building all the more...
It doesn’t. Aerilate more than compensates and -10 atk is barely noticeable if at all.
Beyond that, Mega Mence already exists as an Aerilate Dragon/Flying. Having two is extremely redundant when their stats are so similar.
On another note
:Greninja: (Mega)
Please can something be done with...
This isn’t really true, since the speed difference of Abomasnow and Froslass as Megas very much changes their roles on teams (not that you’d use Abomasnow right this moment). The former is a far wallbreaker and the latter is a super speedy breaker that also go for Nasty Plot stuff (and if you’re...
By this logic just unban evasion moves. After all it’s possible they just end up not doing anything and your opponent still connects their hits.
OHKO moves aren’t a cheeky KO and referencing VGC as if it helps the argument doesn’t really work because people weren’t really fond of when Ting Lu...
S+ is reserved for the Pokémon that are so incredibly, absurdly good that they’re essentially almost mandatory on teams (think Primal Groudon/early gen8 Clefable). While Ghold is undeniably the best Pokémon in the tier, it isn’t so good that it’s mandatory or that teams are worse for not having it.
Survey time wooo
Metagame Enjoyment/Balance/etc: 6 (maybe like 6.5ish?)
I don't think the tier is in a terrible state let alone unplayable, far from it. It's leaps and bounds better than many past iterations of the tier. That being said, I think there is an oversaturation of high grade threats...
This is one of the subtly best ones actually. It’s not “just longer legs”, the demeanor it shows in game and its Pokédex entry lean into its overall lore and inspiration really nicely. The obvious Earthbound Starman reference, the fact it’s doubling down on Sentai themes, and more… it’s great.
You don't want to rely on BP for its sole damage source. Both the option for grass STAB and use of Knock Off are helped by the boosted attack. Knock Off especially because it lures in so many ghost and psychics to be hit
